Patrick John Moore, 29, of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, July 29, 2000. He was the husband of Heather; the step- Father of Ethan and Arin; son of Larry and Dee Moore; brother of Diane Johnston, Daniel (Pudgie) Moore and Nikki Moore; son-in-law of Dan and Mel Shatzer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood. A funeral prayer will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Maxwell Drive, White hall.

Emma M. Altman Orr, 98, formerly of New Castle, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 9:45 a.m. She was born May 1, 1902, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Storm Altman. Wife of the late William K. Orr, who died in August of 1972. She had been an employee of Eckert's Jewelry in Jeannette and had written a column on Centennial, "Letters from Emma," about her life in Jeannette. She was a 50-year member of Jeannette Chapter #69 O.E.S., where she was a past worthy matron and was founder of the Jeannette Assembly of Rainbow #63, where she was past mother advisor. Also she attended Epworth Methodist Church in New Castle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; three half brothers , Todd, Jake, and Dick Altman; a half sister, Charlotte Walters; five brothers , James, Marion, Ted, Frank, and Martin Altman; two sisters , Molly Bellich and Marcella Bartmess; an infant son, William Orr Jr. and infant daughter, Lois Jean. Survived by her son, Mr. George A. (Ruth Ann) Orr of New Castle; three sisters , Minnie Miller of Turtle Creek, Emina Bopp of Leechburg, and Violet Ryder of Murrysville; two granddaughters; and six grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. George A. Phillips Jr., 69, of Greensburg, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Uniontown, a son of the late George A. Sr. and Mary Dillow Phillips. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Braun Baking Co. of Greensburg. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, Greensburg, the Bakery Drivers Union, Local 485, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosella Burchett; and a brother, William Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Laughrey Phillips; three daughters , Joy Lynne Basler of Los Angeles, Calif., Donna Jean Phillips and Karen Lee Phillips, both at home; two brothers , John and his wife, Carol Phillips, and Harold and his wife, Claire Phillips, all in Texas ; five sisters , Aileen and her husband, the Rev. James Seefried, Thelma Lane, Marlene Seighman, and Doris and her husband, Karl Koncheck, all of Uniontown, and Beryl and her husband, Kent Davis, in Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Nancy Phillips of Pittsburgh; an aunt, Ellen Humbert of Fairchance; and his mother -in-law, Edna Swaney of Uniontown; also several nieces and nephews. Donald L. Rittenhouse, 43, of Mt. Pleasant RD5 (Laurelville), passed away Friday afternoon, July 28, 2000, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Rygielski of Ross Township; Father -in-law of Kay Rygielski and Paul Zoeller; brother of Julia Gromek of Etna and the late Helen Pierson, Stella, John and Victor Rygielski; grandfather of Susan Hogya, Sandra and Davis Zoeller; great-grandfather of Zachary, Jacob, Benjamin and Matthew Zoeller. Patricia Ann Schettler, 58, of Beaver, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at her Beaver residence. Born July 11, 1942, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late William and Rita Coyne Wilkinson. A Catholic by faith, Mrs. Schettler was a medical lab technician, having retired from the St. Anne's Nursing home in Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph Schettler. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Tamika Schettler of Turtle Creek; a daughter, Patricia M. Schettler of Beaver; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Donna Wilkinson of Meadville; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Bill Spear of Beaver; and a granddaughter, Aja' C. Schettler. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J.T. Margaret (Knapp) Sperling, 91, of McCandless, died Saturday, July 29, 2000. She is survived by one son, Walter J. Sperling Jr.; one daughter, Janet Notaro; two sisters , Mildred Novak, and Audery O'Rouke; two brothers , Al quin Knapp, and Clyde Knapp of Wisconsin; five grandsons, John, Chuck, and Troy Notaro, Walter Sperling III and Jarett Sperling; two granddaughters, Shelly Notaro, and Desriee Courtoy; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Megan; three great-grandsons, Tres', Tyler, and Noah. Mrs. Sperling was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Sperling Sr.; one sister, Alberta Miller; three brothers , Eugene, Norbert, and Robert Knapp. Mrs. Sperling was a funeral director. She was a member of St. Peter Parish and Christian Mothers. Friends will be received from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday in SPERLING, INC., 408 Cedar Ave., North Side. A Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, St. Peter Parish. Frank Donald Spillar, 52, of Derry, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Hempfield Township. Born Aug. 22, 1947, in Latrobe, he was a son of Ida M. Gasdek Spillar of Latrobe and the late Andrew J. Spillar. He was a member of St. Rose Church, Latrobe, and worshiped at St. James Lutheran Church, Youngstown. He was an employee of Derry Area School District and Derry Area Park and Recreation Board. He also belonged to the Kingston Veterans & Sportsmen Club, Twin Maples Hunt Club, First Ward Company 1 Firemen's Club, American Slovak Club, American Greek Club and Frontier Club. Frank was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. In addition to his Father , he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Spillar. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Darlene Banner Spillar; a daughter, Melissa Spillar of Latrobe; three sons , Christopher Spillar and his wife, Michelle of Bradenville, Dustin Banner and Joshua Banner, both at home; two brothers , Andrew Spillar and his wife, Connie, of Cooperstown and Joseph Spillar and his wife, Judy, of Lloydsville; two sisters , Donna Spurgeon and her husband, Clarence, of Prattsville, Ala., and Karen Clark and her husband, James, of Dallastown, Pa.; two very special grandchildren, Deyvin and Christopher of Bradenville; a sister-in-law, Patricia Spillar of Herminie; and a number of nieces and nephews. Stanko. He had been employed by David Flamm Company, Greensburg. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his Father , he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Frank and Josephine Liberoni; and paternal grandparents, Andrew and Elizabeth Stanko. In addition to his mother , he is survived by a daughter, Carmella Marie Stanko of Latrobe; a brother, James A. Stanko and his wife, Sandra, of Latrobe; a sister, Lori A. Cramer of Derry; two nieces, Kaitlyn Stanko and Nicole Stanko; special friends, David King and family; and close friend, George Mitchell.
