Alice Gutgsell
Alice H. Gutgsell, 77, of 2836 Sizerville Road, died Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2006) at her residence.
Born July 12, 1928 in West Creek, she was a daughter of George W. and Anna Glasl Hornung. On Nov. 8, 1952 in St. Mark Catholic Church, she married Glenn T. Gutgsell, who survives.
Mrs. Gutgsell was a lifelong resident of Cameron County and attended Emporium schools. She was employed by GTE Sylvania for 24 years and also with In-Home Services for a number of years.
She was a member of St. Mark CD of A and the VFW Auxiliary.
Mrs. Gutgsell loved to quilt and crochet. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Rea Ann (Bob) Mallery of Portville, N.Y., Frances (Randy) Klock of Pleasant Gap, Pamela (Steve) Kierl of Lusby, Md., and Regina (Bill) Smith of Emporium; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Lewis and Rita Catalano of Emporium and Betty Heary of Friendship, N.Y.; and one brother, John Hornung of Emporium.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mathew Gutgsell; four sisters, Catherine Caldwell, Clara Burgoon, Anna Myers, and Pauline Malone; and four brothers, George, Simon, Max and Harold Hornung.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. from St. Mark Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Siebert, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Germania Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Guy and Mary Felt Manor Auxiliary or the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library.

Robert J. Neff
Robert J. Neff, 44, of West Fifth Street, Emporium, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, in his home.
Born September 19, 1961 in Whidbey Island, Washington, he was the son of Matthew and Janet Ann Haynes Neff. On March 12, 1999 in Emporium he married Elizabeth J. (Betty) Guido who survives.
He was a graduate of Kitsap High School in Kitsap, Washington.
Mr. Neff was fifth generation military and was retired from the United States Air Force where he served as a Medical Laboratory Specialist.
When he retired in 2000, he became a resident of Emporium where he was a member of St. Mark Church and American Legion Post 6221.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Elizabeth (Betty), are: his mother, Janet Neff of Poulsbo, Washington; a step-daughter, Deborah Whiting Glover of Emporium; three grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Smalley of Bremerton, Washington and Leesa Neff of Poulsbo, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Neff was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Neff.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, with Fr. Paul Siebert, pastor of St. Mark Church officiating.
Military Honors were accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc./Hospice Program or the Cameron County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
Thomas Holjencin
Thomas Holjencin, Sr., 65, formerly of Emporium, died Thursday, August 24, 2006, at his residence in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Born April 4, 1941, in Clearfield County, he was the son of the late Stephen Holjencin and Catherine Murgash Holjencin.
In 1959 he graduated from B.C.I. Jr.-Sr. High School in Coalport, PA.
On June 2, 1960 in Coalport he married Joyce Orrick who survives.
Mr. Holjencin was a partner in Fairview Sintered Metals in Kersey before retiring to Wilmington in 1995.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge #343 and American Legion Post #10 in North Carolina. While residing in Pennsylvania he was also a member of Moose Lodge #368, The Fireman's Club, The Eagles, The Elks, and The Christabelle Club.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by: a daughter, Hope Griffith of Wilmington; three sons, Samuel Holjencin (Cynthia) of Simpsonville, SC, and Joseph J. Holjencin (Christine) and Thomas Holjencin, Jr. (Jeanmare), both of Emporium; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Mary Gahr of Kersey; three brothers, Robert Holjencin of Kersey, Joseph Holjencin of St Mary's, and William Holjencin of Coalport; and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Richard Holjencin, John Holjencin, and Stephen Holjencin preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006, in the Coppersmith- Condon Funeral Home, Emporium. A brief memorial service will follow at the same location.

Dora Colosimo
Dora E. Colosimo, 80, of Bradford, formerly of Smethport, died Sunday (Aug. 27, 2006) in the Bradford Manor, Bradford.
She was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Bradford, a daughter of James and Dessie Yale McCracken. On Jan. 5, 1948, in Emporium, she married Frank R. "Cheech" Colosimo, who died March 18, 1999.
Mrs. Colosimo was a graduate of Houston Township High School in Penfield and graduated from Maison Frederick School of Beauty as a beautician. She owned and operated Elite Beauty Salon in Smethport from 1949 until 1999, when she retired.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Smethport and its choir and Bell Choir for many years. She was also a member of the Farmers Valley Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Donald) Blinn of Allegany, N.Y.; one grandson; one granddaughter; three greatgranddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lanny R. Colosimo on June 1, 1977; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Hartle- Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., Smethport, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Pete Graham officiating. Committal was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease Research.
Thomas Farren
Thomas E. Farren, Sr., 62, of 717 Rich Valley Rd. Emporium passed away at Skillman Residence, Gibson Township, Friday morning unexpectedly.
He was born July 7, 1944 in Emporium, a son of the late Theodore and Margaret Thomas Farren.
Mr. Farren worked throughout the area as a handyman. He loved hunting and fishing.
Mr. Farren is survived by three daughters: Ruth (Keith) Lucanik, Jane (David) Akins, Debra Smith all of Emporium; two sons: Thomas Farren, Jr. (Lee Ann Keener) and Peter Farren both from Emporium; two brothers: Ronald (Beverly) Farren and Charles (Marlene) Farren both from Emporium; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mr. Farren was preceded in death by his parents: Theodore and Margaret Thomas Farren, two brothers: David and Daniel Farren and one sister, Edna Harrington.
There will be No Visitation. Services and Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
James Haas
James W. Haas, 84, of 2152 Moore Hill Rd. Emporium, passed away at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, Saturday night.
He was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County, a son of the late Howard P. and Helen Rupp Haas.
On April 13, 1946 in Leather Corner Post he married Marlowe Arner Haas, who survives.
Mr. Haas served with the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater more specifically in the Philippines and New Guinea. His two sons and a grandson also served in the US Army. He was a lifelong Dairy Farmer and was an accomplished leather craftsman. He was a member of the Rich Valley Wesleyan Church.
In addition to Marlowe Arner Haas, James is survived by two sons: L.J. Haas of Lake City, Nelson Haas of Whittimore Hill; five grandchildren: Christopher, Rebecca, Seth, Matthew and Rachel; four sisters: Thelma (William) of Springfield, VA, Alice Haas of Kutztown, Janice (Gary) Moore of Cuba, NY, Helen Peindl of New Ringold; two brothers: Edward Haas of Lenhardtsville and Chester Haas of New Ringold.
Mr. Haas was preceded in Death by his parents; Howard P. and Helen Rupp Haas, a brother; Alfred Haas and a sister, Eleanore Haas.
There will be No Visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at The Rich Valley Wesleylan Church today (Saturday) September 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Claydon officiating.
Burial will be in the Haas Farm Cemetery, Emporium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rich Valley Wesleylan Church, 3125 Rich Valley Road, Emporium, PA 15834.
Clarice Stewart
Clarice E. Stewart, 84, of Port Allegany, and formerly of Mount Jewett, died Monday (Aug. 21, 2006) in Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 9, 1921, in Kane, she was a daughter of William and Sadie McElphatric Reigel. On Nov. 13, 1943, in Follansbee, W. Va., she married Chester C. Stewart, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Stewart was a past member of the VFW and American Legion in Mount Jewett. She had been an avid bowler.
Surviving are six daughters, Donna Moore of New Castle, Del., Patricia Causer of Mount Jewett, Carol Chopra of Frederick, MD., Virginia Landis of Dubois, Linda Reinard of Port Allegany and Sharon Lobaugh of Newark, Del.; six grandsons; eight granddaughters; 20 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Donald Reigel of Emporium and Frank Reigel of Mummford, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Dickenson and Dorothy Null of Gifford; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, one sister and an infant daughter.
Funeral services were private. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Mount Jewett Volunteer Fire Department.
Patricia Jones
Patricia M. Jones, 73, of West Sixth Street, Emporium, died Monday (Aug. 28, 2006) in her home.
Born Jan. 26, 1933 in St. Marys, she was the daughter of Hilarion and Laura Zwald Lion. On April 23, 1955, in Emporium, she married George M. Jones, who died Nov. 18, 2003.
A lifelong resident of Emporium, Mrs. Jones graduated from Emporium High School in 1952 and later from Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo, N.Y.
She was employed for a short time by Sylvania Electric in Emporium in the steno pool and then as a teller by Emporium Trust Company. In 1980, she opened Tracy's Shoes in Emporium and also had a second location in Bradford.
Mrs. Jones was a member of St. Mark church in Emporium and the Emporium and the Emporium Country Club.
Survivors include two sons, George M. Jones Jr. of Emporium and David A. Jones of Bradford; one daughter, Tracy Jones of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Klinestiver of Emporium.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Steven, in 1961.
Friends will be received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday in St. Mark Church, Emporium, with the Rev. Paul Siebert, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
A wake service was held Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Emporium Fire Department or Cameron County Ambulance Service.
Clara Johnson
Clara Jeanne Johnson, 75, of Emporium died Sunday (Feb. 19, 2006) in Alapaha, Georgia.
She was born August 16, 1930 in Emporium.
She is survived by her two children, Michael R. Johnson of State College and Tracy E. Brogdon of McDonough, Georgia; one sister, Janice (Strait) Fragale of Emporium; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Emporium.
A Wake will be held that afternoon at the Allegheny Pub to celebrate her life, and that of her husband, Lucien R. (Lou) Johnson.
Delva S. Freedline
Delva S. Freedline, 77, of Dagus Mines Road, formerly of Emporium, died Monday (Feb. 20, 2006) in Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys.
Born Nov. 20, 1928 in Girard Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Laurence and Arrilla Lingle Maines. On Jan. 1, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio she married Mark E. Freedline who died July 28, 1988.
A resident of Emporium since 1950, Mrs. Freedline was employed by GTE Sylvania retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Emporium, Felt Manor Auxiliary, Sylvania’s Quarter Century Club, Order of Eastern Star Emporium Chapter #101, and was a Lady Shriner. She was also an avid bowler.
Mrs. Freedline is survived by; two daughters, Veronica A. Bowley of Johnsonburg and Jennifer Hadlock-Dush and husband Lewie Dush of Kersey; five grandchildren, Mark Ford of Ridgway (formerly Emporium), Tara Bowley and Wade Bowley of Johnsonburg, and Conner Hadlock and Taylor-Rose Hadlock of Kersey; one brother, Douglas Maines of Elyria, Ohio; two sisters, Mildred Silvis of Homer City and Mae Wiesner of St. Marys; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Lyman Maines and two sisters, Angeline Ireland and Violet Clark.
Funeral and committal services were held Friday (Feb. 24) with the Rev. R. Scott Melott, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
