Floyd J. German Jr.
Floyd J. German Jr., 65, of 4101 Main St., Slatedale, died Wednesday evening in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was a patient since May 19. He was the husband of Mae E. (Hess) German. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary in November.
He was a slitter operator for the American Nickeloid Company, Walnutport, for 19 years before retiring in 1994 due to disability. Previously, he was employed by the former Trojan Powder Company, Whitehall Township, from 1955-75.
Born in Slatedale, he was a son of the late Floyd J. Sr. and Mabel S. (Walter) German.
He was a member of the Mason Dixon Fox Hunters Association, Fawn Grove, York County, and the Pennsylvania State Fox Hunters Association, both for 36 years.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Joseph F. of Slatedale; three daughters, Sheila A. Nemeth of Centreville, Va., Karen L. of Slatedale and Janice E., wife of Ronald Strohl of Coplay; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Bolognese; and a brother Elmer.

German survivor
Among the survivors of Floyd J. German, Jr., 65, of 4101 Main St., Slatedale, who died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, is a daughter, Janice E., wife of Ronald Stroh of Coplay.
Mrs. Frank Stanek Sr.
Mrs. Dorothy A. Stanek, 71, of 225 E. Fell St., Summit Hill, died Thursday in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Convalescent Center, Lehighton. She was the wife of Frank Stanek Sr.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by the former Ruth Garment Factory, Summit Hill, and previously had worked for the former VanHuessen Garment Factory, Coaldale.
Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sophie (Lesch) Zola.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Summit Hill, where she belonged to the Our Lady of Fatima Sodality. She was also a member of the Panther Valley Golden Age Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Greg of Coopersburg and Frank Jr. of Summit Hill; a sister, Wanda Broton, and a brother Steven, oth of Hazleton; and two grandchildren.

Alvin S. Fritz
Alvin S. Fritz, 87, of Tamaqua R.3, died Thursday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was a patient since May 19. He was the husband of Alma J. (Shellhamer) Fritz. They observed their 65th wedding anniversary in December.
He was a mechanic and truck driver for the former Bethlehem Mines, now Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, Tamaqua, from 1978 until retiring in 1990, and previously had worked in the same capacity for the former Fauzio Brothers Mines, Lansford and Nesquehoning, from 1940-78.
Born in West Penn Township, he was a son of the late Eloris and Katie (Rex) Fritz.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Peter Lutheran and United Church of Christ, Tamaqua R.3.
Surviving in addition to his widow are nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice C. Femyak, who died in 1995.

Jane Fetter
Long-time area funeral director
Jane (Ritz) Fetter, 77, of 75 Main St., Mahanoy City, a licensed funeral director in that community for 55 years, died Friday evening in the Pottsville Hosital and Warne Clinic, following a brief illness. She was the widow of Dr. Donald E. Fetter, who died in 1979.
Born in Ashland, she was a life-long resident of Mahanoy City, and was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Martha (Clifford) Ritz.
She operated, along with her son, Franklin R. Fetter, the Jane Clifford Ritz Funeral Home, 19 E. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City. The business is now in its fourth generation being operated by the same family.
She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School in 1937, and attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, and graduated from Eckels College in Philadelphia in 1939.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mahanoy City; the Dorcas Women's Ministry of the same church; the Puritan Chapter 126, Order of Eastern Star, Mahanoy City; the Mahanoy City Elks Ladies Auxiliary; the Mahanoy City Women's Club, and the Cedar Crest Women's College Alumni Association.
Surviving with her son, Franklin, of Barnesville, are three other brothers, Donald, also of Barnesville, Norman of Pottstown, and Jonathan of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a daughter, Sarah Jane Fetter of Barnesville; one sister, Virginia, wife of Robert Krause of Mahanoy City; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Alma M. Nicholas
Mrs. Alma M. Nicholas, 86, of Kunkletown R.3, died Monday in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Convalescent Center, Mahoning Township. She was the widow of Gordon Nicholas.
She was a clerk for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for more than 40 years before retiring in 1973.
Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Elsie (Frantz) Durhammer.
She was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, where she formerly belonged to the Ladies Aide group.
Mrs. Nicholas was a member of the Daughters of America, Kunkletown, and the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary.
Surviving are a stepson, Leon Nicholas of Kunkletown; and seven step-grandchildren.

Walter Mikulsky
Walter "Jack" Mikulsky, 75, of 64 Andrewsville, Lansford, died Monday in his home.
He was employed by the Gibraltar Chemical and Plastics Company in New Jersey before retiring, and previously had worked in the No. 4 Colliery of the former Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late John and Sophie (Bronik) Mikulsky.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lansford.
Mikulsky was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He also belonged to the AMVETS and American Legion posts and the Italian Club, all of Lansford, and the Coaldale V.F.W. Post.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John "Vince" and Stanley "Tyka;" and three sisters, Valerie Karnish, Sophie Krutsick and Mary Ann.

Richard M. Bubon
Richard M. Bubon, 66, of 302 E. Center St., Mahanoy City, formerly of Coaldale, died Monday in the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
He last worked as a draftsman for Kawecki-Berylco, Hazleton, and previously had been employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Michael and Ann (Bango) Bubon. He resided in Coaldale much of his life, moving to Mahanoy City 22 years ago.
A 1949 graduate of the former Nesquehoning High School, he attended Penn State University.
He was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, where he sang in the choir.
Bubon was a Marine Corps veteran of Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of the Mahanoy City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Marine Corps League.
As a youth he was very active in sports and after graduation had an opportunity to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers and also received a scholarship to play college football.
Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Van Blargan of Coaldale; a son John of Frackville; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Sgt. Joseph, who died in 1983.

Norman J. Roth
Norman J. Roth, 96, of 2940 Delps Road, Moore Township, died Tuesday in the Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Jennie (DeRhone) Roth and the late Emma (Koch) Roth.
He was a farmer in Moore Township for 21 years and worked at the former Atlas Cement Company, Northampton. He was also owner of the Klecknersville Hotel for four years and later owned the Hereford Hotel before retiring in 1968.
Born in East Allen Township, he was a son of the late William and Mary Ann (Schmoyer) Roth.
He was a member of the Petersville Rod and Gun Club, the Raccoon Club, Northampton, and the Bath Republican Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Madeline G., wife of Carl Meixner, and two sons, William J. and Ralph R., all of Moore Township; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Funk of Coplay; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Richard F. Burke
Mrs. Jean J. Burke, 61, of 6316 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township, died Monday in her home. She was the wife of Richard F. Burke. They would have observed their 42nd wedding anniversary this month.
She worked in the vacuseal department of Victoria Vogue, Bath, and previously had been employed by the former Mary Ann Fashions, Bath.
She was judge of elections in East Allen Township for 10 years.
Born in Emerald, Washington Township, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Ruth (Althouse) Atherholt.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Coplay, where she served on the council.
Mrs. Burke also belonged to the Nazareth chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Lady Hall Rebekah Lodge, Aluta, and was a former Cub Scout den mother.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Constance J., wife of Brent Kohler of Nazareth; two sons, Rick F. of Allentown and Scott A. of Bethlehem; four brothers, Delbert of Jamesville, Kermit of Walnutport, Rodger of Bath and Atherholt of Palmerton; two sisters, Sharon, wife of Donald Kocher of Moore Township, and Karen, wife of Douglas Woerner of Northampton; and six grandchildren.
Burke survivor: Among the survivors of Mrs. Jean J. Burke, 61, of 6316 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township, who died Monday in her home, is a brother, Kevin Atherholt of Palmerton.
Edwin Franklin Kennel
Edwin Franklin Kennel, 80, formerly of Bethlehem, died Tuesday in his home in North Fort Myers, Fla. He was the husband of Arlene H. Kennel and the late Claire (Mitman) Kennel, who died in 1992.
He worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company before retiring in 1980.
Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Edwin C. and Evelyn (Fogel) Kennel.
He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, North Fort Myers, where he sang in the choir.
Kennel also belonged to the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus and was a former board member of the Carriage Village Landowners Association, North Fort Myers, and the Fort Myers Area Barbershop Chorus.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Sherry K. Figdore of Locust, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Linda Kline of Danielsville; three grandchildren and a step-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Carol Kichline.
Sylvester J. "Tex" Dallas
Sylvester J. "Tex" Dallas, 82, of 233 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, died Tuesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Jean F. (Goeser) Dallas.
He was a clerk for the Tamaqua Post Office for 29-1/2 years before retiring in 1975, and previously was a bricklayer in Washington and Florida.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late George and Silvinia (Zingaro) Dallas.
He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Dallas was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific.
He was a graduate of Williamson Trade School, Media, Delaware County.
A ham radio operator, he was a member of the American Radio Relay League and the former Tamaqua Radio Club in the 1950s, and the Navy-Marine Corps Military Affiliate Radio System.
Dallas was a life member of the Tamaqua Elks Lodge and a member of the Tamaqua Senior Citizens and the Tamaqua Historical Society.
He was a former member of the Tamaqua Board of Health and a former officer in the Panther Valley Coin Club.
Surviving are a daughter Elizabeth of Tamaqua R.3; a sister, Mrs. Edith Long of Sun City Center, Fla.; a brother John of Tamaqua; and nephews and a niece.
