Eugene C. Abbott
Eugene C. Abbott, 66, of 974 Engler Road, Plainfield Township, died Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Linda J. (Uhler) Abbott. They observed their 42nd wedding anniversary last October.
He was a chemical operator for the former J.T. Baker Chemical Company, now Mallenkrodt Chemical Company, Phillipsburg, N.J., for 42 years before retiring.
Born in Columbia, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late James F. and Ruth (Collins) Abbott.
He was a medic in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Eugene D. and Michael K., both of Plainfield Township; a daughter, Thelma Jeanne, wife of Thomas Balliet of Palmerton; a brother, James C. of Conway, S.C.; and a granddaughter.
Edward M. Cauley
Edward M. Cauley, 95, of Delano, died Thursday in the Manor Care Convalescent Center, Sinking Spring, Berks County. He was the husband of the late Minnie (Faust) Cauley, who died Dec. 13, 1969.
Prior to retiring, he was a machinist for the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
Born in Delano, he was a son of the late William and Bridget (Purcell) Cauley.
He was a member of St. Canicus Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, the Knights of Columbus and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and a life member of the Delano Fire Company.
Surviving are a daughter Joan, wife of William Guistwite of West Lawn, Berks County; a brother Vincent of Delano; two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, James, John, Joseph and Thomas; and three sisters, Katheryn, Julie and Ellen.

George E. Bunk
George E. Bunk, 62, of 229 First St., Weatherly, died Thursday morning in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Joanne (Caplo) Bunk.
He worked as an executive steward at the Mountain Laurel Resort, White Haven, retiring in 1994.
Born in West Hazleton, he was a son of the late George and Lottie (Wojciechowski) Bunk.
He was a 1952 graduate of West Hazleton High School and was affiliated with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Nesquehoning, and Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly.
Bunk was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Froce, retiring with the rank of technical sergeant. He saw service in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Conyngham V.F.W., Luzerne County.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Stephen of Bath, England; two stepsons, Daniel Buglio of Beaver Meadows and Brian Buglio of Weatherly; two stepdaughters, Jennifer, wife of Timothy Harkins of Weatherly, and Candace, wife of Aaron Hoppes of Hamburg; four sisters, Mania Bobeck of West Hazleton, Mrs. Robert (Florence) Nause of Sugarloaf, Mrs. James (Patricia) Lencalis of Orange and Mrs. Gary (Loretta) Shoepe of Sugarloaf, Luzerne County; a grandson and nieces and nephews.

Harold F. Haupt
Harold F. Haupt, 74, f McKeansburg, New Ringgold R.3, died Tuesday morning in the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville, where he was a patient since June 23. He was the husband of Verna M. (Snyder) Haupt. They observed their 52nd wedding anniversary last October.
He was last employed as a textile machinist for Rockwell International, formerly Textile Machine Works, Wyomissing, Berks County, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 1982. Previously, he was a coal miner at the former No. 8 coal mine, Coaldale, where he worked from 1938-56.
Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Norman and Mabel (Mertz) Haupt.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Haupt was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the New Ringgold Volunteer Fire Company and the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, Lehighton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Diane L., wife of Harold Frye Jr. of McKeansburg, and JoAnn C., wife of Paul Strauss of Nesquehoning; a son, Gregory H. "Greg" of McKeansburg; a sister, Mrs. Joyce Mantz, and a brother, Cedric V., both of Lehighton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Balliet, and a brother Junior.

Frederick R.Merluzzi
Frederick R. Merluzzi, 70, of 1198 Mahoning Mountain Road, Lehighton, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of Marie E. (Miko) Merluzzi. They were married 47 years in April.
He worked for the Merluzzi Family Mills until retiring several years ago from its Wilmer Fashions Plant, Bowmanstown.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Peter and Helen (Swartz) Merluzzi.
He was a Catholic.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a technician fourth grade with the 161st Station Hospital in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the Mahoning Valley Country Club and American Legion Post 314, Lehighton, and its Last Man's Club.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Frederick M. of Lehighton; a daughter, Ann, wife of Larry Reiser of Palmerton; three brothers, Gordon, Richard and Carl, and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Deis, all of Lehighton; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin.

Mrs. Erma M. Kepp
Mrs. Erma M. Kepp, 81, of 1114 Moser Road, Danielsville, died Sunday in the Eastwood Rehabilitation Center, Wilson.
She was a layout operator at the former Western Electric, Allentown, for 27 years, retiring in 1979.
Born in Lehigh Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Ida (Biechy) Althouse.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Laurys Station.
She was a member of the AT&T Pioneer Retirement Group.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret M., wife of Harold A. Silfies of Walnutport, and Claire G., wife of John A. George of Danielsvile; three brothers, Howard of Palmerton, Merritt of Northampton and Ray of Walnutport; a sister, Mrs. Mark (Myrtle) Schwartz of Northampton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Hoffman survivors
Joseph M. Hoffman, 26, of 416 Henry Road, Bushkill Township, Nazareth, who died Friday in a motorcycle accident along Mountainveiw Drive, Lehigh Township, is also survived by two brothers, Danile of Corpus Christy, Tex., and Jeffrey of Easton.
Stickler correction
Edwin H. Stickler, 88, of 317 E. Patterson St., Lansford, who died Aug. 2, is survived by Georgine (Anstead) Stickler. Her name was misspelled in Monday's obituary but appeared correctly in the death notice.
Mrs. Raymond Swilp
Mrs. Raymond Swilp, 63, of Hometown, Tamaqua R.2, died Sunday at her home. She was the wife of Raymond Swilp. They were married 47 years.
She worked for the Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, Tamaqua R.D., for 43 years before retiring.
Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan (Kompon) Klusko.
She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving with her husband is a brother, Thomas of Tamaqua, and nieces and nephews.

George Shema
George Shema, formerly of Tresckow, Carbon County, died Sunday evening at Weatherwood, the Carbon County Home for the Aged, Weatherly.
Born in Junedale, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Frank and Ida (Sacckete) Shema.
He was a member of St. Kunegunda's Catholic Church, McAdoo.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Mouseeau and Mary Poirier, both of New York City, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Irene) Makowiec of Tresckow, and Mrs. Robert (Veronica) Honis of McAdoo; three brothers, Francis of Newark, Del., Joseph of Northampton, and John of Tresckow; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Maynard C. Kern, Sr.
Maynard C. Kern Sr., 66, of Jackson Township, N.J., died Tuesday, July 29, at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, N.J. He was the husband of Ruth (Brent) Kern.
He worked as a truck driver for 30 years at Chemical Leamon Tank Line, Lyonsville, until his death. Prior to that he was supervisor for U.S. Turcking, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and worked for Matlock Trucking, Lnadown.
Born in Franklin Township, Lehighton, he was a son of the late Earl S. and Clara E. (Dotter) Kern of Franklin Township.
He graduated from Lehighton High School in 1948 and was a member of the Jackson Moose Lodge.
Surviving with his widow is a son, Maynard C. Jr., of Lakewood N.J.: two daughters, Theresa Kern of Brick Township, N.J., and Debra, wife of Jeffrey Shellhammer of Lehighton; also two sisters, Ellen Kern and Virginia Miller, both of Lehighton; a twin brother, Edward of Netcong, N.J. Also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother Delroy, who was killed in 1944 in World War II.
Funeral services were held in Jackson, N.J. on Aug. 1.
Grace Behr
Grace Behr, 67, of 345 Hazle St., Tamaqua, died Monday evening in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Paul F. Behr, who died in 1981.
Born in Coaldale, she ws a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dampman.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
Before retiring, she worked for Bemis Corp. in Hazleton.
Surviving are three daughters, Debbie, wife of Victor Lionzi of Owl Creek, Tamaqua R.1, Paula Piccin of Barnesville, andKathy, wife of Thomas Brobst of Owl Creek, Tamaqua R.1; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hill of Tuscarora, Florence Bennage and Nancy, wife of William Couch, both of Tamaqua; two brothers, Samuel and James Dampman, both of Brookville, Fla., and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Howard R. Fritzinger
Mrs. Kay N. Fritzinger, 55, of 438 White St., Weissport, a member of the town council for the past 12 years, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Howard R. Fritzinger. They observed their 31st wedding anniversary last month.
Durnig her tenure on council, Mrs. Fritzinger held the presidency for four years.
Born in Kresgeville, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Eva (Jones) Christman.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Brian of Lehighton and Scott of Mantzville; two daughters, Connie, wife of Robert Custer of Hyndman, Bedford County, and Brenda, wife of Donald Kresge of Franklin Township; four brothers, Alan of Lehighton, Floyd of Ross Township, Larry of Packerton and Paul of Franklin Township; three sisters, Fern, wife of Leo Scitney, and Joyce, both of Lehighton, and Mae, wife of Terry Kline of Gilbert; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Pauline A. Landis
Mrs. Pauline A. Landis, 80, of Allentown, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Alfred T. Landis.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Fred J. and Edna M. (Zimmerman) Stephens.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Allentown, where she taught Sunday school in its nursery department for 45 years until 1992.
Surviving are a son, Thomas R., and a daughter, Barbara A., wife of Gerard F. Homick, both of Allentown; two brothers, Fred J. of Slatington and Edgar W. of Bethlehem; a sister, Mrs. Barbara A. Glick of Allentown; and four grandchildren.
