Henry A. Green
Henry A. Green, 75, formerly of Main Street, Walnutport, died Monday in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Convalescent Center, Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Dorothy A. (Greensweig) Knappenberger Green.
He was a plant worker for the former Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Palmerton, for 20 years before retiring in 1981.
Born in Kresgeville, he was a son of the late Reuben and Ellen (Kibler) Green.
He was a member of the Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport.
Surviving are five sons, Kenneth, Richard, Allen and Stephen Knappenberger, all of Walnutport, and Donald Knappenberger of Palmerton; three daughters, Annabell, wife of Harold Gross Jr. of Danielsville, Eleanor, wife of Charles Meixsell of Walnutport, and Carol, wife of Joseph Sidor of Slatington; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Schmick of Lehighton; 28 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Bersuk; and a son, Harold Knappenberger.
Kathryn F. Stauffer
Kathryn F. Stauffer, 89, of the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Convalescent Center, Mahoning Township, died Tuesday in the home.
She worked in the garment industry in the Allentown area for more than 30 years.
Born in Emmaus, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Annie (Haring) Stauffer.
Survivine are nieces and nephews.
Harry D. Shiffer
Harry D. Shiffer, 81, of Kresgeville, died Wednesday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth Emily (Unangst) Shiffer.
He was an engineer for the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad, a subsidiary of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, for many years before retiring.
Born in Moore Township, he was a son of the late Oscar D. and Savannah M. (Schlegel) Shiffer.
He was a member St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
Shiffer was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Palmerton Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are three sons, Harry D. Jr. of Hamburg, Daniel B. of Merrimack, N.H., and Kenneth L. of Kunkletown; a brother Norman of Bath; a sister Mary, wife of Ralph Ervin of Walnutport; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Dolores A. George
Dolores A. "Do" George, 67, of 202 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, died Thursday in the Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allentown. She was the wife of Isaac S. "Ike" George. They celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary last December.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late John and Edwina (Jones) Krex.
She owned and operated the Krex News Agency in Palmerton the past eight years.
She was a member of the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Greg Favian of Greensburg, and Thomas C. Fabian of Lehighton; three daughters, Joan, wife of Hargis Collins of Dryden, Mich., Patricia Fabian of Feasterville and Mary, wife of Robert Bollinger of Palmerton; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Shupp of Palmerton, nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Dorothy E. Pierson
Dorothy E. Pierson, 82, of 37 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, died Monday in the Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua R.2.
Prior to retiring in 1978, she worked for the Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, for 45 years. She was a member of the Atlas 25-Year Club.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late William and Maude (Yeagle) Pierson.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving are a brother John of Vero Beach, Fla.; and three nieces.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Evans Snyder, who died in 1990.

John B. Onufer
John O. "Reds" Onufer, 50, of 28 W. North St., Bethlehem, died Sunday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Deanna H. (Brunner) Onufer. They observed their 32nd wedding anniversary in January.
He was a driver for Yellow Cab, Bethlehem, for many years before retiring in 1989, and previously was a heavy machine operator in the beam yards of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for five years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of Mrs. Ruth (Fehr) Onufer of Bethlehem and the late Joseph A. Onufer.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are a son, John M. of Minersville; a daughter, Katrina S., at home; and two sisters, Colleen of Allentown and Kathleen Grannetino of Palmerton.
George J. Post Jr.
George J. Post Jr., 71, of Milton, Fla., formerly of 4542 Newburg Road, Nazareth, died Saturday in the Santa Rosa Medical Center, Milton. He was the husband of Evelyn J. (Werkheiser) Post. They observed their 49th wedding anniversary in March.
He operated a professional cleaning service from 1989 until last year, and previously had worked for the Asplundh Tree Trimming Service, Bethlehem, for 40 years, and then Con-a-deck, Bethlehem, until retiring in 1989.
Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Silverious and Beulah (Ladlee) Post.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his widow are 11 sons, Daniel and Robin, both of Bethlehem, Wilson of Brockton, John of Easton, George, Floyd, Norman and Cyrus, all of Lower Nazareth Township, Darius of Nazareth, Richard of Tamaqua and Harold of Whitehall Township; two daughters, Yvonne of Lower Nazareth Township and Linda of Milton; a brother Harvey of Belfast; four sisters, Emmaline Martin and Nora, both of Easton, Althea Ciulla of Palmer Township and Doris Mailander of Dunellen, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son Raymond and a daughter Doris.
Mrs. Helen Wallitsch
Mrs. Helen Wallitsch, 81, of Allentown, died Sunday in the home of her son, Richard A. of Palmer Township.
The deceased was the widow of William J. "Dumper" Wallitsch.
Before retiring in 1991, she was a waitress for area restaurants, most recently working at the Days Inn in South Whitehall Township and The Wood Company, Wescosville. Previously, she and her husband owned the former Dumper's Cafe and the former Wallitsch's Cafe, both in Allentown.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Weinhofer) Ressler.
She was a member of the Mountainville Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving in addition to her son are another son, William O. of Wescosville; two sisters, Emma Schmaldinst of Allentown and Lillian, wife of Joseph Ward of Cherryville; a brother Edward of Allentown; and six grandchildren.
Martin E. Diehl
Martin E. Diehl, 92, formerly of Walnutport and Schnecksville, died Monday in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late D. Grace (Strohl) Diehl, who died in 1990.
He was a body shop painter for the former Dietrich Buick & Cadillac, now Daniels Cadillac, Allentown, for 23 years before retiring in 1966, and previously had worked for the former Trojan Powder Company, South Whitehall Township, for 10 years.
Born in Beltzville, he was a son of the late Adam M. and Martha (Green) Diehl.
He was a member of Bethany Wesleyan Church, Cherryville.
Surviving are a daughter, Fern E., wife of Richard L. Hubrich of Allentown; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice M. Frantz of Lehighton; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Adam D. Bavolack
Mrs. Catherine V. Bavolack, 92, of 12411 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va., formerly of McAdoo, died Friday in her home. She was the wife of Adam D. Bavolack. They were married for nearly 60 years.
She was an elementary school teacher in the former Coaldale School District and later in the Panther Valley School District, retiring in 1970.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Wasyl and Eva (Derr) Polansky, and had spent most of her life in McAdoo.
She was a member of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, McAdoo.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Amato of Marshall, Mich., and Mrs. Eric (Jean Ann) Davenport of Gum Spring, Va.; a brother Andrew of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Elizabeth, Mary Puschak, Anna Puschak, Helen Malloy and Mildred Ettinger; and three brothers, Steve and Drs. John and Theodore.
Funeral services were held today in Richmond. She will be buried in McAdoo.
Mary Yaich
Mary Yaich, 83, of 1 Broadway, Jim Thorpe, died Wednesday at the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the widow of John Yaich, who died in 1970.
Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late James and Florence (Jerbis) Penberth.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sixth and North Streets, Jim Thorpe.
Surviving is a son, James Yaich, Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Dolores, wife of Charles Charter, Waxhaw, N.C.; a sister, Florence, wife of Robert Schaffer, Lansford; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Yaich; three brothers, James, Albert and Roy Penberth; and four sisters, Mrs. Martha Coll, Mrs. Emma Hughes, Mrs. Mildred Hughes, and Mrs. Rachel Ladenburg.

James C. Tringone
James C. "Snoopy" Tringone, 35, of New Ringgold R.2, died Wednesday morning in the Ashland Hospital, where he was readmitted the same day from the Shenandoah Heights Nursing Home, Shenandoah. He was the husband of Colleen (Yedsena) Tringone. celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in August.
He was last employed as a foreman for the Gallagher Car Crushing Company, Hazleton, from 1991 until retiring in 1995 due to disability. From 1976-90, he worked for the J.H. Zaprazny Salvage Company, New Ringgold R.2.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late John C. and Ruth A. (Hoffman) Tringone.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Katie Sue, and a son, James C., both at home; two sisters, Rae I. Fritz of Tamaqua and Carmilla, wife of John Symotsky of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a brother, Bernard S. Hosier of New Ringgold R.2.
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, John C. Tringone.

Mrs. Lois E. Hottenstein, 75, of 137 Heather Lane, Wyomissing, Spring Township, Berks County, died Wednesday in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center-West Reading, where she was a patient for one day. She was the wife of John M. Hottenstein.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Emma A. (Reinert) Scherer.
She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomising.
She was a 1940 graduate of the former Stephen S. Palmer High School, Palmerton, and 1943 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Dr. J. Stephen and Paul A., both of Wyomissing; a daughter, Mary A., wife of John G. Hayes of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, Winston E. of Palmerton and William H. of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.

Pauline Y. Krause
Pauline Y. Krause, 83, of Brookview Drive, Jim Thorpe, died Wednesday in Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the widow of Earl L. Krause who died in 1989.
She worked for the Underwood Typewriting Co. of East Hatfield, Conn., and later retired from the Pratt and Whiteny Acircraft Co. in East Hartford, Conn.
Born in East Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline (Bennyhoff) Yaich.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sixth and North Streets, Jim Thorpe.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Martha Shuck, and three brothers, John Yaich, Venus Yaich and William Yaich.
