Mary C. Horwath Soloman
Mary C. Horwath Soloman, 86, of 724 Delaware Ave., Bethlehem, died Tuesday in Cedarbrook's Fountain Hill Annex.
She was a waitress in several Lehigh Valley restaurants.
Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Ortwein) Horwath.
She was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catherine of Siena, Allentown.
Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Hoof of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Marykatherine, wife of William Yost of Whitehall Township, and Martha E. Soloman of Hometown; three brothers, Bernard of Fountain Hill and Joseph Jr. and Raymond, both of Bethlehem; a sister, Theresa Reisteter of Hellertown; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Charles "Bucker" Pollock
Charles "Bucker" Pollock, 89, of Lake Drive, Lake Harmony, died Monday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Mary (Daffner) Pollock.
He was a landscaper for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for many years before retiring, and previously was a senior landscape architect from 1939-56 and a forester for the former Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company in the Lansford-Tamaqua area, 1931-39.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late John and Ella (Kissner) Pollock.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Albrightsville.
Pollock was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of the Lansford Masonic Lodge and the Lansford and Lake Harmony fire companies.
Surviving in addition to his widow are nieces and nephews. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mrs. Ann M. Frano
Mrs. Ann Frano, 69, of 3177 Main St., Slatington, died Monday in her home. She was the widow of Stephen P. Frano.
She was a waitress for the former Herman's Restaurant, Slatington, for 25 years before retiring in 1965, and later was a teller for Citizens Bank, Slatington, for seven years.
Born in New York City, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Susan (McCormack) Herman.
She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Slatington.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan Pigueron of Phoenix, Ariz., Patricia Rettew of Northampton and Nanette Orlando, at home; a son, Stephen C. of Slatington; and five grandchildren.
Anthony Sakusky
Anthony Sakusky of Box 122C, Wapwallopen R.2, formerly of McAdoo, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of the late Julia Sakusky, who died in 1987.
Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Anthony and Cecilia (Burkavage) Sakusky.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6708, McAdoo.
Sakusky was a member of St. Kunegunda Catholic Church, McAdoo, the McAdoo Fire Company, and the Senior Citizens of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Dorrance.
Surviving are two sons, John and Donald, both of Tamaqua; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Nicholas Pashnick
Nicholas Pashnick, 70, of 8757 S. 80th Court, Hickory Hills, Ill., died Sunday in Elgin, Ill. He was the husband of the late Marie (Homa) Pashnick.
Prior to retiring, he was a sheet metal engineer with Miles Laboratories, Bedford Park, Ill., for 37 years.
Born in Junedale, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Motyka) Pashnick.
He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Oak Lawn, Ill., and SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Beaver Meadows.
Surviving are two sons, Guy of Plainfield, Ill., and Bret of Hickory Hills, Ill.; a daughter Linda, wife of John Kruger of Carpentersville, Ill.; three sisters, Anna Gallagher of Tresckow, Anna Michalochik of Beaver Meadows and Mary Wandishin of Hazleton; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Robert Wallauer
Robert Wallauer, 79, of 924 Santa Ana Road, Albuquerque, N.M., died Wednesday morning in his home. He was the husband of Mary Wallauer.
Prior to retiring, he was the head of security for the Los Angeles Times Newspaper.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Wallauer.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Patricia Montoye of Albuquerque; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be in Albuquerque.
Stanley Marczyk
Stanley "Stash" Marczyk, 69, of Absecon, N.J., died Friday, Sept. 12, in his home. He was the husband of Kathleen (McGurk) Marczyk. They were married for 37 years.
He was a teacher at Holy Spirit High School in New Jersey until 1988, when he received a heart transplant. While teaching at Holy Spirit, he coached football and baseball and was the athletic director for many years.
Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Mary and Stanley Marczyk.
He was a 1945 graduate of the former Nesquehoning High School, where he played football and basketball. He went on to graduate in 1949 from the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of the Tar Heels football team that played in two Sugar Bowls.
Marczyk served in the military from 1951-52.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Kathleen Wyvill in Maryland and Ann Shober and Mary, both in New Jersey; five sons, Stash, Joseph, Peter, Fred and Bernie, all in New Jersey; six sisters, Mary Quashnoc of Hanover and Valeria Ligenza, Anna Kociolek, Albina Kosciolek, Stella and Bernardine, all of Nesquehoning; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Hetherington and Sophia.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
DeWitt "Lefty" Bowden
DeWitt "Lefty"Bowden, 80, of 1693 N. Sanatoga Road, Sanatoga, formerly of Fifth Street, Coaldale, died Wednesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville. He was the husband of the late Helen (Hacko) Bowden who died in 1980.
He was last employed as a mechanic for Bethlehem Mines Corporation.
Born in Chapel Hill, N.C., he was the son of the late Kemp and Carry Ann (Steele) Bowden.
He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Master Sergeant during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodist Church in Coaldale, the Knights of Columbus of Tamaqua and the Coaldale American Legion.
He was an outstanding baseball pitcher in the former Panther Valley Baseball League.
Surviving is a son Gary of Sanatoga and three grandchildren.
He was the last member of his immediate family.

Angeline "Angie" Arcari, 70, of 44 W. Ridge Ave., Summit Hill, died Wednesday in her home.

John S. Mikulsky
John S. Mikulsky, of 45 Walnut St., Lansford, died Wednesday in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Catherine Mikulsky.

Frank Hessinger
Frank Hessinger, 84, of 576 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Sunday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Lauretta L. (Eckhart) Hessinger. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary on April 18.
He was a salesman for BenChane Clothier, Nazareth, for 30 years before retiring in 1981, and previously had worked for the Hotel Hamilton, Allentown, for eight years, and at the Allentown Knitting Mills, Allentown, in the 1940s.
Born in Hokendauqua, he was a son of the late Frank S. and Julia (Sommers) Hessinger.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Frank of Inverness, Fla., Edwin of Palmerton and James of Kunkletown; a sister Frieda, wife of John J. Groller of Wescosville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Carl, Raymond and Richard.

Paul S. Johnson
Paul S. Johnson, 85, of 130 Club Road, Palmerton, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of Leocadia (Casper) Johnson. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary on July 1.
He was a refrigeration engineer for Cushman and Wakefield, New York City, N.Y., and previously was a fireman in that city before retiring in 1963.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Paul S. and Anna (Butkus) Johnson.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Eleanor E., wife of Sonny S. Mistretta of Palmerton, Mildred A. Iris of Allentown and Susan L. of Greenwich Village, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Paul Jr. and Kenneth; a sister, Anna Bart; and a brother Charles.
Mrs. Joan Simms Greth
Mrs. Joan Simms Greth, 65, of 17 W. High St., Nazareth, died Sunday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Fountain Hill. She was the former wife of Norman E. Greth of Baltimore, Md., and the widow of Frank H. Martin.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Dr. George F. and Edna (Guilfoyle) Simms.
She was a toll collector at the Delawater Water Gap Bridge until retiring, and previously had assisted her father in his family practice in Lyndhurst, N.J.
She was a former Republican committeewoman in Monroe County and a former vice chairwoman and auditor delegate for Ronald Reagan's first campaign.
She was a former auditor for Ross Township, Monroe County.
Mrs. Greth was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Planned Parenthood and the Scleroderma Foundation, all in Monroe County.
Surviving are two sons, Christian F. Martin IV of Lower Saucon Township and Douglas Greth of Saylorsburg; a daughter, George-Ann F. Greth of Philadelphia; two brothers, George F. of Sonoma, Calif., and Peter K. of Bethlehem; and a sister, Ann M., wife of Dr. Alfred Keglovitz of Saylorsburg.
Melissa R. Eck
Melissa R. Eck, 20, of Whitehall Township, died Sunday in the Frankford-Torresdale Campus Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Gary L. Eck of Whitehall and Dorothy (Castner) Parisi of Philadelphia, and a stepdaughter of Jill (Sivak) Eck of Whitehall.
The deceased was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Allentown.
Surviving in addition to her parents and stepmother are two sisters, Dominique Parisi of Slatington and Suzannah Parisi of New York City, N.Y.; and her paternal grandmother, Carmella Eck of Allentown.
