Sarah Richter, 67, of Connellsville, passed away Friday, July 28, 2000, at her residence. She was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Connellsville, a daughter of Alice Esther Fosbrink Stillwagon of Scottdale and the late George Fosbrink. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Connellsville, where she served as church treasurer, Sunday Bible school teacher and headed the church's compassionate committee affairs for many years. She was formerly employed at the G.C. Murphy store in Connellsville for several years. She was known for her long service, leadership and devotion in Scouting. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pa., Fayette County Council, for 30 years, having received the certificate of appointment award and pin. She also was chairman of the Girl Scout cookie program for 25 years. She was also a 30-year member of the Westmoreland Fayette Council, Boy Scouts of America, having received the Silver Beaver Award in 1984. She was also active in the Cub Scout phase in the Scouting program. She was a den leader, committee chairman, unit commissioner, assistant cubmaster and cubmaster. She had instituted and chaired a Cub day camp. On the district level, she had a long tenure on the round table staff, and on the Cub Olympic committee. A consistent promoter of council activities, her record of service had been recognized with the District Award of Merit. Most noteworthy had been her work with handicapped Cubs. She was also a Lioness with the Dunbar Township Lions Club. She is survived by her husband, Ralph C. Richter, to whom she was married 38 years on July 1 of this year; a son, David Allen Richter and wife, Lori, of Connellsville; two daughters , Rebecca Sue Waltman and husband, Daniel, of Fenelton and Patricia Ann Hall and husband, Roy, of Jeannette; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica and Jared Richter, Shelby and Daniel Waltman, and Winter, Amber and Nicole Hall; and a brother, Harold Fosbrink of Connellsville. In addition to her Father , she was predeceased by an infant brother, Ralph Edward Fosbrink. Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville, Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 1 p.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Elmer Reamer Jr. and the Rev. Evelyn Stillwagon co-officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Karl R. Sattler Sr.
McCandless
Karl R. Sattler Sr., 90, of McCandless, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Born Jan. 20, 1910, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Rutherford and Katherine Ihrig Sattler. Mr. Sattler was a retired assistant manager for the town of McCandless. Survivors include his wife, Martha Wetzel Sattler; and two sons , Karl R. Sattler Jr. of Maryland and Gary R. Sattler of California. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 388 Center Ave., West View. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Northmont United Presbyterian Church, McCandless, with the Rev. Sharon Myers officiating. Burial will be in Union Dale Cemetery, North Side. Marion A. Shelby, 83, of Lemont Furnace, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in McKnight's Personal Care Home in Lemont Furnace. He was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Boleslaw and Julia Shibilsky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jane Shelby, on Nov. 23, 1999; and 12 brothers and sisters . Mr. Shelby was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Western Chiefs of Police of Pa., and the U.S. Steel Golf League at Springdale Golf Course. He is survived by two daughters , Rebecca Matthews and husband, Stuart, of Connellsville, and Pamela Paschke and husband, Jeffrey, of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Bonnie Rider and husband, Howard, William Matthews, Christopher Paschke and Molly Paschke; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Rider and Jessica Rider; and a special nephew, Joseph Shibilski and wife, Dorthea. Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS Cemetery, 603 N. Mary Ann Slivoskey, 63, of Hostetter, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 27, 1937, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Vid and Mary Wolk Markovich. She was a member of St. Cecilia Church, Whitney, and Croation Lodge #279. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son and two infant daughters ; a sister, Marcella Markovich; and three brothers , Anthony, Emil, and Francis Markovich. Survived by her husband, John J. Slivoskey; two daughters , Maureen Moore and her husband, William, of Greensburg and Corinne Daughenbaugh and her husband, Brian, of Greensburg; four brothers , John Markovich and his wife, Anne, of Latrobe, George Markovich of Latrobe, James Markovich and his wife, Nancy, of Latrobe, and Richard Markovich and his wife, Elaine, of Latrobe; three sisters , Margaret Haas and her husband, Francis, of Whitney, Veronica Palicka and her husband, John, of Irwin, and Dolores Markovich of Whitney; a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Daughenbaugh; two sisters -in-law, Virginia Markovich of Laughlintown and Dorothy Bender of Latrobe; and a number of nieces and nephews. Stella A. Sokol, 98, of McCandless, died Thursday, July 27, 2000 in Vincentian Home, McCandless. Born Jan. 20, 1902, in Sharpsburg, she was the son of the late John and Victoria Handzlil Olejarz. Mrs. Sokol was a member of St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and its Rosary Society. Survivors include a son, Raymond R. Sokol of Harwick; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sokol; two sons , John E. Sokol and Edwin L. Sokol; three sisters , Helen Bernardi, Clara Myszkowski and Leona Schilling; five brothers , Lawrence Olejarz, Michael Olejarz, John Olejarz, Edward Olejarz and Casimir Olejarz. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday in the WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and Ninth streets, Sharpsburg. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday in St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Andrew C. Fischer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, O'Hara.

Helen P. Srembo, 77, of Jeannette, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at home. She was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Flora Ferguson Ickes. Prior to retirement, she was employed at the Soup and Sandwich in Greengate Mall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Srembo; five sisters ; and four brothers . She is survived by her son, Ronald Ickes and his fiancee, Kerry, of Westmoreland City; a granddaughter, Rhonda Logan and her husband, Kevin, of Monroeville; a grandson, Daniel Ickes and his fiancee, Ashley Kifer, of Jeannette; numerous nieces and nephews, including Beverly Pensera of Kent, Ohio, and Butch McElroy of Pensacola, Fla.; and an adopted nephew, Dennis Raffinsperger of Greensburg. Friends were received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Craig T. Hess officiating. Charles R. Stahl, 71, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Latrobe, a son of the late Carl H. and Constance (McLaughlin) Stahl. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he was employed by Vanadium in Latrobe with 30 years of service. Charles was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy, a member of the American Legion Post 515, the VFW Post 3414, the AMVETS, and the First Ward Firemen's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Carl D. Stahl, on Jan. 2, 2000; two brothers , Carl U. Stahl and James L. Stahl; and two sisters , Jean Bennett and Helen Mikesell. He is survived by a brother, Robert Stahl and his wife, Dorothy, of Ellwood City; his former wife, Dorothy E. Stahl of Latrobe; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mary "Sally" Stakor, 88, of Trafford, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in the St. Anne Home in Greensburg. She was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford. She was born March 24, 1912, in Munhall, the daughter of the late Mike and Mary Boroviec Duda. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milan H. "Miller" Stakor in 1983; and a daughter, Caroline Leinberger. She is survived by a son, David R.M. Stakor of Troy, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Karl, Mark, Richard, Sarah, Martin and Herbert Leinberger, Christian Stakor and Carol Palmer; and four great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Leah Palmer and Kyle and Zachary Leinberger. Friends will be received at the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME, 429 Duquesne Ave., Trafford, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Regis Church with the Rev. Henry P. Dinicco as celebrant. Larry Franklin Stover, 60, of Beckley, W. Va., died Saturday, July 15, 2000. He is survived by two sons , Eric Hutchinson Stover and Paul David Franklin Stover. Preceding him in death are his parents, H.R. and Ella (Spencer) Stover. Joseph Stephen Taylor Jr., of Edgeworth, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Rusty) McClain Taylor; three daughters , Becky Taylor Gallagher and husband, Michael, of Baden, Kathleen Jean Taylor of Edgeworth and Charlotte Taylor Fleig of Sewickley; one son, Joseph S. Taylor III and wife, Linda M., of Moon; one sister, Charlotte Taylor Rehler of Indiana; one brother, Carl R. Taylor of Washington State; six grandchildren, Michael, Shana, Bradley, A.J., Ashley and Josef; three step-grandchildren, Tricia, Beth and Jacquelyn. Mr. Taylor is also survived by his Father -in-law, Elmer R. McClain, and his personal friend, Leona Cook. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Robert and James Taylor and Ruth Brylinsky. He was the president and owner of the Taylor All Star Dairy Co. Inc. and the Stop and Go Food Stores as well as the Tri Point Ice Cream Co. He was a partner and on the board of the Titusville Dairy. He participated in numerous trade associations including the Pennsylvania Association of Milk Dealers and the All Star Dairy Association. He was a graduate of Ambridge High School and attended college at Penn State. His memberships included the Doric Lodge #630 F.& A.M. of Sewickley, the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, the Shannopin Country Club, the Ambridge Country Club where he treasured a "hole-in-one" in 1987. He was named to the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a former officer in the Ambridge Rotary. He also had a membership to the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley. Mr. Taylor and his family were members of the Christ Church at Grove Farm in Mt. Nebo. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, 328 Beaver St., Sewickley. A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday in Church Christ at Grove Farm, Mt. Nebo. Friends are invited to go directly to the church.
