Ann Dumnich,
Latrobe

Ann Dumnich, 80, of Latrobe, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Hempfield Township. Born Aug. 6, 1919, in Cooperstown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Metro and Mary I. Lesko Shafron. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe, and its Rosary Altar Society. She was retired from St. Vincent Archabbey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Dumnich; two sisters , Mary E. Zabkar and Helen Gannon; and two brothers , Stephen and Joseph Shafron. She is survived by three sons , Michael T. Dumnich and his wife, Carla, of Latrobe, Barry W. Dumnich and his wife, Shirley, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Donald G. Dumnich and his wife, Edna, of Ligonier; a brother, Thomas Shafron of Baggaley; a sister, Margaret Klipa and her husband, Bronko, of Westmoreland City; six grandsons, Barry, Paul, Christopher, Stephen, Donald and Jonathan; two great-granddaughters, Madeline and Natalie; two great-grandsons, Paul Jr. and Alexander; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Basilica. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.

Albert U. Firth,
North Huntingdon

Albert U. Firth, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. He was born in Bronx, N.Y., a son of Walter and Jennie Spall Firth. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the small loan business in Boston, Mass. He was a member of Grandview AARP 2171, White Oak Senior Citizens, a graduate of N.Y.U., a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and a retired service lieutenant colonel from the Reserves. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jean Petterson Firth; a son, Albert U. Firth II of West Chester, Pa.; and two grandsons, Albert U. III and Leonard Charles Firth. Friends will be received in the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be in the funeral home Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Lori Turner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.

Mary (Kobulnicky) Fleishaker,
Bettendorf, Iowa,
Formerly of McKees Rocks

Mary (Kobulnicky) Fleishaker, 78, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of McKees Rocks, died on Thursday, July 27, 2000. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Fleishaker; dear mother of Mary Ellen Good, Stephen, Joseph and Frank Fleishaker; six grandchildren; sister of George Kobulnicky and Florence Bodack. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1225 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks (Family owned and operated since 1886). A Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John of God Parish in St. Mary's Church.

Kenneth K. Fry,
Greensburg

Kenneth K. Fry, 72, of Greensburg, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Somerset County. He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Greensburg, a son of the late Kenneth J. and Mary E. Keating Fry. He currently had been employed by the Westmoreland County Intermediate Unit and was retired from Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh, in 1982 with 32 years of service, and also retired from Sears, Westmoreland Mall, Greensburg. He was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Greensburg; a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; and had graduated from the Greensburg High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores A. Sarver Fry, on Oct. 20, 1996. He is survived by a son, Kenneth K. Fry Jr. of New Castle, Colo.; three daughters , Debbie Fry of Oakland, Calif., Elizabeth A. and her husband, Phillip Hunkele, of Glenshaw, and Gretchen D. Fry at home; three grandchildren, Courtney Ann, Erik K. and Nicholas K. Fry; a brother-in-law, Jan D. and his wife, Patricia Sarver, of Greensburg; and two sisters -in-law, Gail E. and her husband, Harry Tompkins, of Jeannette, and Marilyn Sarver in Nevada. There will be no public visitation. Private interment will take place in the Union Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, July 29, at 1:30 p.m. in Zion's Lutheran Church, Pennsylvania Avenue, Greensburg, with the Rev. Gene R. Stuckey Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 615 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Greensburg, in charge of arrangements.

Marie (Zabel) Heard,
Ross

Marie (Zabel) Heard, of Ross, on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Beloved wife for 47 years of Norman G. Heard. mother of Janet H. Carnot and her husband, Claude, of France and Deborah H. Frazee and her husband, Phil, of Oregon. Grandmother of Julien P. and Fanny V. Carnot. Sister of Irene K. Williams and William A. Zabel. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends receives 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the HEARD FUNERAL HOME INC., 4047 Perrysville Ave., Observatory Hill. Services Monday in the Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway (McCandless), at 11 a.m. Please meet at church. William J. Kissell,
Southwest Greensburg

William J. Kissell, 71, of Southwest Greensburg, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born May 3, 1929, in Calumet, a son of the late Andrew A. and Veronica Kunitz Kissell. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Brown Boveri Co. of South Greensburg. He was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, and American Legion Post 981 of South Greensburg. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Kissell; and two sisters , Sophie Brinker and Evelyn Luckage. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dutchie" Dziedzickie Kissell; two daughters , Valeria Kissell and her husband, Tim Knoebel, of Butler and Diane and her husband, Michael Cepullio, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Nicole Cepullio and Tara Cepullio and Michael Knoebel-Kissell; six sisters , Mary Polcha of Mt. Pleasant, Veronica Morris of Greensburg, Margaret Muchoney of Norvelt, Ann Yasher of Parma, Ohio, Helen Nader of Irwin and Catherine Cibulas of Norvelt; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney as celebrant. Interment with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 981 Honor Guard of South Greensburg will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

Mary H. Lee,
Latrobe

Mary H. Lee, 91, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital, following hip surgery. She was born June 16, 1909, in New Derry, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fiorina Lee. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Latrobe. As the founder and retired owner of the Mary Lee Travel Agency in Latrobe for 50 years, Mary was a pioneer for women in business. She is best known for introducing motor coach tours, steamship lines and airline travel to the greater Latrobe area. Her reputation for commitment and excellent service won her Latrobe's local industry travel contracts throughout the years. Mary's skills and contributions were recognized by her peers in the travel industry across America. She was elected as the first woman president of the National Tour Association Inc. and became the driving force in expanding the Association membership across the country. She also served as the first woman president of the Latrobe Chamber of Commerce. In November 1999, she was inducted into the National Tourism Foundation Hall of Fame. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Capt. Chester M. Lee. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Rose M. Lee, and two nieces, Virginia A. Lee and Nancy Lee Cusher, all of McLean, Va.; a nephew, David J. Lee and his wife, Carol, of Springfield, Va.; an aunt, Elsie Mazero of Latrobe; cousins, Dr. T. Jean Mazero and Dr. and Mrs. J. Robert Mazero, all of Latrobe; and nine great-nieces and -nephews. There will be no public visitations at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Thomas Lukac as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. Family and friends will be received in the Barnes House, 2021 James St., Latrobe, immediately following the graveside service. Robert Lloyd,
Herminie

Robert "Bob" Lloyd, 78, of Madison Road, Herminie, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at his home. He was born April 25, 1922, in Madison, a son of the late Frank and Mayme (Mitchell) Lloyd. Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed by Westinghouse Semi-Conductor in Youngwood as a heating and air conditioning maintenance technician. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 448th Bomb Group. He flew 34 bombing missions over Germany and France and, among other honors, received two Purple Hearts, a Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Medal. Bob's memberships included the Madison United Methodist Church, Shidle Lodge #601 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forest #77, Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, also the Eighth Air Force Historical Society, Western Pa. Wing, Herminie VFW Post #8427, Herminie L.O.O.M. Lodge #1604 and the Jacktown Ride & Hunt Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd, "Bob," is survived by his wife of 46 years, Josephine "Jody" (Pekar) Lloyd; a brother, James "Ike" Lloyd and his wife, Ann, of Acme; a sister, Helen Arnold and her husband, Frank, of Madison; a brother-in-law, Charles Pekar of North Huntingdon; a sister-in-law, Mary Stravasnik of Herminie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Madison United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert K. Moffat officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Greensburg VFW Post #33 Honor Guard will follow in the Madison Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Madison United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, 142 Main St., Madison, PA 15663. The Shidle Lodge #601 F&AM will meet for services Saturday at 8 p.m. and the Herminie VFW Post #8427 will meet for services Sunday at 8 p.m., both in the funeral home.

Jean Lydick Lomicka,
Irwin

Jean Lydick Lomicka, 77, of Irwin, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at home. She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Walter and Susan Logedensky Lydick Seibert. She was a member of the Community Methodist Church, Harrison City. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Lomicka. Survived by a daughter, Susan E. Lomicka of Irwin; a sister, Jo Anne Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters -in-law, Dorothea Brigode and Margaretha Zilavy; also nieces and nephews. Friends received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Livermore officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park.

F. William Ries,
Ross

F. William Ries, 85, of Ross, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 10, 1915, son of the late F. William Ries Jr. and Elizabeth Gates Ries. Mr. Ries graduated from the Catholic University of America in 1936, earning a bachelor's degree in economics, cum laude. He entered the life insurance business in 1937, and was an insurance broker and Chartered Life Underwriter. Mr. Ries graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course in 1940. During his career, Mr. Ries was named to his company honor roll, and elected as an officer of the President's Club. He received the National Quality Award for 50 consecutive years, and remained active in the insurance business following his semi-retirement in 1980. He was a member of the University Club in Oakland, Pittsburgh Life Underwriters Association, a Career Agent for Canada Life Assurance Co., and a member of the American Contract Bridge Association Mr. Ries is survived by his wife, Dorothy Campbell Ries; two sons , William Campbell Ries of McCandless and David Gerard Ries of Ross; three daughters , Kathleen Merikangas of New Haven, Ct., Maryanne R. Rogers of Boston and Nancy R. Allen of McCandless, two sisters , Dorothy Fitzgerald of Upper St. Clair and Eleanor Reith of Lorain, Oh., nine grandchildren, William Sheehan Ries, Sean David Ries, Alison Kathleen Merikangas, Brian James Merikangas, David Gerard Ries, Jr., Christopher Michael Ries, Daniel Yudkin Rogers, Benjamin William Rogers, and Timothy Michael Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Tressel. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. A Christian Funeral Mass will be at 12 noon Saturday in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Ross. Interment in North Side Catholic Cemetery, Ross. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little sisters of the Poor, Benton Ave., Pgh. 15212, or St. Sebastian Church 311 Seibert Rd., Pgh., PA 15237.
