Paul F. Smith,

Paul F. "Fred" Smith, 72, of Swissvale, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in the Shadyside Hospital in Shadyside. Mr. Smith was born March 18, 1928, in West Liberty, Ohio, to the late John F. and Gertrude Smith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary N. Forgione Smith. Loving Father of Paul (Linda) of Braddock Hills, Doug (Barbara) of North Huntingdon, James (Faith) of Forest Hills, Beverly Attinger (Mark) of North Huntingdon and Joseph (Stacie) of Los Angeles, Calif. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Longtime employee of Wards Baking Co. and Nickle's Bakery. Also Mr. Smith was a member of the Madonna del Castello Church in Swissvale. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale. A Mass will be celebrated in the Madonna del Castello Church, Swissvale, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment in the Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Braddock Hills.

Laura Gazze Stingl,
Vienna, Austria,
formerly of Jeannette

Fighting a battle against cancer that required spirit and determination, a sense of humor, biting wit, boldness, acceptance, and a charming loving heart for her family, the late Laura Gazze Stingl, 50, of Vienna, Austria, formerly of Jeannette, died from the complications of cancer on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, following a bone marrow transplant in Leipzig, Germany. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Georg Stingl of Vienna, Austria. Laura was the daughter of the late George and Inez Vezzetti Gazze of Jeannette. She graduated from Jeannette High School in 1967 and from Trinity College in Washington , D.C., in 1971. She was formerly employed by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., where she met her husband and later moved to Austria. Prior to her death, she was employed as a research scientist at the IMP. Laura is survived by her family: her beloved aunt and uncle, John and Laura Ciotti of Greensburg, Dr. Kathleen Catalano of Greensburg, Drs. Martin and Charlotte Gallagher of Greensburg, Drs. Louis III and Elizabeth Catalano of New York, Dr. Jamea Catalano and her husband, Frederick McKee Campbell II, of Rosemont, Pa., and Todd Gallagher of Greensburg. She is also survived by her Father - and mother -in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Stingl of Brunn, Austria. There will be no public viewing. Everyone is to go directly to the Ascension Church in Jeannette, where friends will be received by the family Saturday, July 29, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Jeannette. In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorial contributions to the Laura Gazze Stingl Scholarship Fund for science students at Jeannette Senior High School, c/o Karen Smith, 91 Lincoln Way East, Jeannette, PA 15644. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., Greensburg, in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Stephen Taylor Jr.,
Edgeworth

Joseph Stephen Taylor Jr., of Edgeworth, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Rusty) McClain Taylor; three daughters , Becky Taylor Gallagher and husband, Michael, of Baden, Kathleen Jean Taylor of Edgeworth and Charlotte Taylor Fleig of Sewickley; one son, Joseph S. Taylor III and wife, Linda M., of Moon; one sister, Charlotte Taylor Rehler of Indiana; one brother, Carl R. Taylor of Washington State; six grandchildren, Michael, Shana, Bradley, A.J., Ashley and Josef; three step-grandchildren, Tricia, Beth and Jacquelyn. Mr. Taylor is also survived by his Father -in-law, Elmer R. McClain, and his personal friend, Leona Cook. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Robert and James Taylor and Ruth Brylinsky. He was the president and owner of the Taylor All Star Dairy Co. Inc. and the Stop and Go Food Stores as well as the Tri Point Ice Cream Co. He was a partner and on the board of the Titusville Dairy. He participated in numerous trade associations including the Pennsylvania Association of Milk Dealers and the All Star Dairy Association. He was a graduate of Ambridge High School and attended college at Penn State. His memberships included the Doric Lodge #630 F.& A.M. of Sewickley, the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, the Shannopin Country Club, the Ambridge Country Club where he treasured a "hole-in-one" in 1987. He was named to the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a former officer in the Ambridge Rotary. He also had a membership to the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley. Mr. Taylor and his family were members of the Christ Church at Grove Farm in Mt. Nebo. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, 328 Beaver St., Sewickley. A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday in Church Christ at Grove Farm, Mt. Nebo. Friends are invited to go directly to the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Ronald McDonald House, Pittsburgh or to the Christ Church at Grove Farm.

Paul V. Tomko,

Formerly of Brighton Heights

Paul V. Tomko, 85, of Evans City, Butler Co., formerly of Brighton Heights, died Monday, July 24, 2000, in Suburban General Hospital, Bellevue. Born June 29, 1915 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Tomko. He was a retired carpenter for Dixmont State Hospital and retired owner of Brighton Floral. He is survived by his wife, Vivian M. Schultheis Tomko; one daughter, Pauline M. Kort of Evans City; three granchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy, Ross. A Christian Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday in St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, Evans City. Burial will follow in North Side Catholic Cemetery, Ross.

Paul F. Tuk,
Latrobe

Paul F. Tuk, 72, of Latrobe, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Aug. 26, 1927, in Humphreys, Pa., he was a son of the late Frank J. and Julia Szallars Tuk. He was a licensed funeral director since 1959, and had been employed by the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home since 1971. A veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph Beneficial Society, White Eagles Club, Loyalhanna F&AM 275, American Legion Post 515 and Co. No. 1 Firemen's Club, all of Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darren G. Tuk; and a brother, Frank J. Tuk. He is survived by his wife, Martha Douglas Tuk; three sons , Mark A. Tuk of Mt. Lebanon, Douglas P. Tuk and his wife, Colleen, of Latrobe and Keith D. Tuk and his wife, Ann, of Latrobe; five grandchildren, Jessica A. Daman, Kelly M. Tuk, Timothy Lisbon, Jacob A. Tuk and Nicole M. Tuk; and a great-granddaughter, Sage Lee Daman. There was no public visitation. Services and interment were private. The JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, was in charge of arrangements.

James D. Walsh,
West View

James D. Walsh, 75, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in Suburban General Hospital, Bellevue. Born Oct. 4, 1924 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edward and Marie Nebel Walsh. Mr. Walsh was a retired Port Authority of Allegheny County bus driver. He was a member of the West View Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2754. Survivors include his wife, Anna May Rapavi Walsh; a daughter, Patricia Hyer of Milford, Ohio; a son, James D. Walsh Jr. of Bellevue; a sister, Ruth Ehlinger of Bellevue; four brothers , Richard Walsh of California, Donald Walsh of Bellevue, Edward Walsh of Coraopolis and Thomas Walsh of Freedom; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 388 Center Ave., West View. Christian Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Church, West View, with the Rev. Robert Norton as celebrant. Burial be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless.

Diana (Kastanis) Zervakos,

Diana (Kastanis) Zervakos, 81, of Delmont, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in her home. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Fulton, husband Andrew, and grandchildren, Andrew and Diana Fulton, of Delmont, and Stratis Zervakos of Baltimore; a brother; and three sisters . The family will receive relatives and friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. at Twin Valley, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Diana's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Father Rameas of the Dormiton of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge of arrangements.

James Robert Adams Sr., 75, of Penn Hills, on Thursday, July 27, 2000. Husband of Susan L. (Sakey) Adams; Father of James R. Adams Jr. of Pitcairn, Daniel W. Adams of Pitcairn, Debora Williams of Apollo and Linda Vangenewitt of Cranberry. Also survived by five grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday.

Michael Bihon,
Greensburg

Michael Bihon, 75, of Greensburg, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Kushner Bihon. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a foreman with the former Teledyne of Forbes Road. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Forbes Road and a former member of its parish council. He was also a member of the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW Post No. 33 and the DAV, both of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Bihon, and two sisters , Mary Bihon Lappek and Anna Bihon Dohey. He is survived by a sister, Julia Bihon Puskar and her husband, Donald, of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Forbes Road, with the Rev. Anthony Burlas, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment with military honors accorded by the Honor Guard of VFW Post No. 33 will follow in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township.

Walter Bernard Brill, 94, of Bethel Park, suddenly on Wednesday, July 26, 2000. Beloved husband of the late Alberta M. Moyer Brill. Dear Father of Walta B. (Barney) McLennand and Aaron W. (Nancy) Brill. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends received at the PAUL L. HENNEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 5570 Library Road, corner of Brightwood Road and Route 88, Bethel Park, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday 11:30 a.m. Liturgy St. Germaine Church, Baptist Road, Bethel Park, at 12:30 p.m. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills.

Paul V. Conn, 78, of Connellsville, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in UPMC Presbyterian hospital, Oakland. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery. military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard.
