Lindsey Ann Klein,
New Sewickley

Lindsey Ann Klein, 12, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in St. Francis Hospital North, Cranberry. Born May 10, 1988, in Fort Myers, Fla., she was the daughter of Kevin M. and Sonia L. Whisler Klein. Lindsey was a Freedom Middle School student. She was on the honor roll this past school year. She was selected to dance for the Freedom Lil Bull Dogs Drill Team this fall. Lindsey enjoyed dancing, reading, listening to music, talking on the telephone, drawing, spending time with her friends and spending time with her pet, Kodi. In addition to her parents, survivors include a brother, Kevin J. Klein, at home; maternal grandparents William and Karen Foor of Mansfield, Ohio, and John T. Whisler of Mansfield, Ohio; paternal grandparents James and Helen Klein of Cranberry; and great-grandparents Irene Whisler of Mansfield, Ohio, Russell and Helen Bishop of Mansfield, Ohio, and John and Jean Wiles of Mansfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by several great-grandparents. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. James Klein, pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Wireton, Pa., officiating. Burial will be in English Lutheran Church Cemetery, Zelienople.

Jean Lydick Lomicka,
Irwin

Jean Lydick Lomicka, 77, of Irwin, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at home. She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Walter and Susan Logedensky Lydick Seibert. She was a member of the Community Methodist Church, Harrison City. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Lomicka. Survived by a daughter, Susan E. Lomicka of Irwin; a sister, Jo Anne Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters -in-law, Dorothea Brigode and Margaretha Zilavy; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Livermore officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park.

Walter S. Marts,
Murrysville

Walter S. Marts, 82, of Murrysville, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Murrysville, a son of the late Frank and Eva Jane Weister Marts. He was a retired production supervisor for Westinghouse Electric, Trafford and East Pittsburgh, with 40 years of service. He served in the National Guard, was a youth baseball manager in the '40s and a Boy Scout leader in the early '60s. He was an avid woodworker and from boyhood memories, constructed a miniature Murrysville old town square with buildings and houses, and also participated in making items for sale for the Murrysville Garden Club for years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, L. Jean Enterline Marts, in 1995; two sisters , Leona Lamb and Cecil Maxwell; and a brother, Glen Marts. He is survived by a daughter, Linda J. Marts of Murrysville; a son, Randy S. Marts and his wife, Bonnie, of Murrysville; three granddaughters, Christina of State College, Jennifer of Murrysville and Michelle of Beckley, W.Va.; and a brother, Lloyd Marts of Murrysville. Visitation Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville, where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Grey Emmett officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Laurel Chapter, the Hospice of Greater Pittsburgh, or the American Lung Association.

Margaret Wick Oresic,
Etna

Margaret Wick Oresic, 63, of Etna, on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Beloved wife of Stephen A. Oresic. Sister of Ruth Ann Stayduhar. Loving aunt of Sandra Stayduhar, Patricia Moore, Stephen Stayduhar and Scott Stayduhar. Friends received from noon to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at OGRODNIK-HAHN FUNERAL HOME, 333 Butler St., Etna. Services Friday 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Etna.

Jean Daood Parks,
Penn

Jean Daood Parks, 72, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Born Dec. 23, 1927, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Ellis Daood. Mrs. Parks was employed by the Allegheny County Department of Health as a secretary to the director until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church, Hampton. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Walter S. Parks; a stepson, Walter "Steve" Parks Jr. of East Longmeadow, Mass.; three sisters , Mae Betty of Charlotte, N.C., Vivian Daood of Charlotte, N.C., and Susan Zischkau of Orlando, Fla.; and two brohters, Jeffrey Daood of Rochester, Minn., and John Daood of Shaler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers , Peter Daood, David Daood and Edward Daood. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Aug. 2, 2000, in St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church, West Hardies Road, Hampton, with the Rev. Regis Farmer as the celebrant. The family will greet guests at the church starting at 9 a.m. Arrangements are by HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME, Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton.

Agnes Jean Rawa,
Claridge

Agnes Jean Rawa, 77, of Claridge, died Monday, July 24, 2000, in her home. She was born May 24, 1923, in Claridge, a daughter of the late John and Mary Zagorg Klobucar. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Penn-Trafford School District in the cafeteria system. She was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City, a member of the S.N.P.J. Lodge 7 in Claridge and a former member of the Christian Mothers of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers , Louis, John, Joe and Frank Beltz; and two sisters , Ann Sartori and Mary Kucic. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John J. Rawa; three daughters , Gloria Schwartz of North Huntingdon, Marian Huhn of Harrison City and Joann Shuder of Poquoson, Va.; three brothers , Anton A. Klobucar of Jeannette, William Klobucar of Claridge and Charles Beltz of Greensburg; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends received in the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Barbara Church with the Rev. V. Paul Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Barbara Cemetery, Penn Township. A vigil service will be held Thursday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

F. William Ries,
Ross

F. William Ries, 85, of Ross, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 in his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 10, 1915, son of the late F. William Ries Jr. and Elizabeth Gates Ries. Mr. Ries graduated from the Catholic University of America in 1936, earning a bachelor's degree in economics, cum laude. He entered the life insurance business in 1937, and was an insurance broker and Chartered Life Underwriter. Mr. Ries graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course in 1940. During his career, Mr. Ries was named to his company honor roll, and elected as an officer of the President's Club. He received the National Quality Award for 50 consecutive years, and remained active in the insurance business following his semi-retirement in 1980. He was a member of the University Club in Oakland, Pittsburgh Life Underwriters Association, a Career Agent for Canada Life Assurance Co., and a member of the American Contract Bridge Association Mr. Ries is survived by his wife, Dorothy Campbell Ries; two sons , William Campbell Ries of McCandless and David Gerard Ries of Ross; three daughters , Kathleen Merikangas of New Haven, Ct., Maryanne R. Rogers of Boston and Nancy R. Allen of McCandless, two sisters , Dorothy Fitzgerald of Upper St. Clair and Eleanor Reith of Lorain, Oh., nine grandchildren, William Sheehan Ries, Sean David Ries, Alison Kathleen Merikangas, Brian James Merikangas, David Gerard Ries, Jr., Christopher Michael Ries, Daniel Yudkin Rogers, Benjamin William Rogers, and Timothy Michael Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Tressel. Friends may be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. A Christian Funeral Mass will be at 12 noon Saturday in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Ross. Interment in North Side Catholic Cemetery, Ross. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little sisters of the Poor, Benton Ave., Pgh. 15212, or St. Sebastian Church 311 Seibert Rd., Pgh., PA 15237.

James M. Scarlett,

James M. Scarlett, 77, of Mt. Lebanon, on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Beloved husband of Virginia (Young) Scarlett. Loving Father of Caryl Scarlett Day of Butler, Patricia Lynn Scarlett of Santa Barbara, Calif., Kendra Scarlett of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Tamara Scarlett-Lyon of Seattle, Wash. Grandfather of Tanya Day, Jason Day, Autumn Scarlett, Rachel Scarlett-Trotter, Rama Scarlett and Cedar Scarlett-Lyon. Mr. Scarlett served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a graduate of the Carnegie Tech School of Architecture. He was a former member of the Mt. Lebanon Planning Commission and a member of the American Institute of Architecture. He designed many local buildings, including St. Thomas More Church, the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center and the Pittsburgh Juvenile Detention Center. Friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at BEINHAUERS, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township, (724) 941-3211, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, or a charity of one's choice. Raymond A. Schemm, 81, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Scottdale, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Anthony Ditto officiating.

Richard M. Skena, 75, of Centreville, Va., formerly of Murrysville, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000. Born Aug. 20, 1924, in Export, a son of the late Peter J. and Victoria Baldiga Skena. Mr. Skena was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric, where he worked as a lab technician. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps, and a member of the American Legion Post 858 and the Italian American Club, both of Export. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by two brothers , Raymond E. and Arthur Skena. Surviving are his wife, Maxine Vought Skena; three daughters , Mrs. Bruce (Marie) Silverman of Westminster, Md., Carol Skena of Latrobe, and Mrs. John (Gloria) Sofranko of Centreville, Va.; five brothers , George H. of Harrison City, Gerald J. of Sanford, Fla., Alfred P., Carl M. and Clarence C. "Bucky" Skena, all of Murrysville; also four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, where services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Father Dismas Young officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
