Richard F. Nebel, 72, of Murrysville, formerly of Hempfield Township, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in the Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville. He was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Monroeville. He was a quality control inspector for Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, and recently worked in advertising for the Tribune-Review, Greensburg. He was a member of Christ's Lutheran Church, Murrysville, and a veteran of the
Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his mother , Marie Nebel; stepfather, David J. Jones; and a sister, Virginia Beighley, in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Horaz Nebel; two sons , Mark Richard Nebel of Herminie and Terry Austin Nebel of Morgantown, W.Va.; a daughter, Pamela Jean Gill of Montclair, Va.; five grandchildren, Kyle and Katie Gill and Crystal, Steven and Jennifer Heckmen; a great-grandchild, Jordan Heckmen; and six brothers and sisters , Alice Jones, Betty Miller and David Jones III, all of Irwin, Thomas Jones of Manor, Gary Jones of Export and Donna Beech of North Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the Clover Ridge Community Center, Murrysville, Monday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Eugene R. Noel

Eugene R. Noel, 79, of Jeannette, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at his residence. He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Latrobe, a son of the late Charles and Alice Ransel Noel. Prior to retirement, he was employed for 42 years by the Pennsylvania Railroad, Pitcairn yards. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette and a member of the Frontier Club of Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers , Charles and Bernard Noel. Eugene is survived by his wife, Elsie Irwin Noel; a son, Dennis E. Noel and his wife, Nancy, of Scottdale; a sister, Marie A. Gessler of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Michele, Jennifer and Lori Noel and Joel Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. James Loew officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Jeannette Combined Veterans will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will hold services Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Lillian M. Ross Peterson, 95, of Murrysville, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in the Beverly Manor, Murrysville. She was born Jan. 27, 1905, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Alvin and Esther Henry Ross. She was a retired inspector for M.S.A. in Glenshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Peterson, in 1987. She is survived by a daughter, Esther Mance and her husband, Mike, of Murrysville; a son, Vincent F. Peterson of Akron, Ohio; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Grey Emmett officiating. Private entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

James Philip Redding Jr., 50, of Crestwood, Ky., formerly of Greensburg, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Hospice Palliative Care Unit, Louisville, Ky. He was a former nuclear engineer for Westinghouse and the plant manager of American Air Filter, Louisville, Ky. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam. Survived by his wife, the former Dale Currence; a son, James C. Redding; daughters , Courtney Ann Redding and Crystal Ann Reeves; Father and stepmother, James P. and June Redding; mother and stepfather, Gene and Jaqueline Ulery Gower; sisters , Kimberly and William Eckenrode, Jaye and David Baird, Vanessa Delynko, Paula and David Greece, and Jill and John Giannone; stepbrothers and sisters , Valery Milliron, Kip Gower, Tim Gower, Eric Gower and Michael Gower; and four grandchildren, Joshua Redding, Maikayla Redding, Autum Reeves and Robbie Reeves. The body was cremated. Memorial services were held Thursday, July 20, at STOESS FUNERAL HOME, Crestwood, Ky. Local services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church of Greensburg, Pennsylvania Avenue, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gene R. Stuckey Sr. officiating. Philip Remai, 61, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born May 12, 1939, in Penn Hills, a son of the late Micheal and Clarice Richmond Remai. He was employed as a production assembler for MSA in Monroeville. He was retired from the Air National Guard 171st Air Refueling Wing in Pittsburgh. A veteran of the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars, having served with the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lynn. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Ann Coates Remai; a son, Philip W. Remai of Westmoreland City; a daughter, Shelley Ann Remai of North Huntingdon; a granddaughter, Kayla Ann Marie Remai; five brothers , William Remai of Penn Hills, Alvin "Sonny" Remai of Plum Borough, Dale Remai of Oakmont, Mikeal Remai of Penn Hills and Paul Remai of Pitcairn; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.

The Rev. E. Wayne Rickard Jr., 78, of Ruffsdale RD1, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born March 12, 1922, in McKeesport, a son of the late Earl W. Sr. and Catherine Patterson Rickard. Rev. Rickard was a graduate of McKeesport High School and was also a graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., having received a degree in sociology. He also attended the seminary at Asbury College for one year, then transferred to the United Methodist Seminary in Ohio, having received his master's degree in divinity. His first pastorate assignment was at the Rainsboro United Methodist Church in Rainsboro, Ohio. He was then appointed as chaplain at the Crawford Village Development in McKeesport, after which time he was transferred to the Homestead United Methodist Church and later transferred to the Scenery Hill United Methodist Church in Scenery Hill, Pa. He was also pastor of the Venango United Methodist Church, the Perrysville Avenue United Methodist Church, Pittsburgh, the Meyersdale United Methodist Church in Meyersdale, Pa., at which time he retired and later served at the Alverton United Methodist Church, Alverton, Pa. Rev. Rickard was a member of the Christy Park United Methodist Church and also a member of the United Methodist Western Pennsylvania Conference. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl W. Rickard III. Surviving are his wife, Edith V. Holmbeck Rickard; three daughters , Mrs. David (Patricia) Antolic of North Huntingdon, Mrs. Jimmie (Barbara) Hager and Linda Mastowski, both of Clarksville, Pa.; two sons , David W. Rickard of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kenneth A. Rickard of Wilmore, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters , Doris Long of North Versailles, Cleodel Rickard and Mildred Lindberg, both of McKeesport. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. James W. Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Allegheny County.

Joseph H. Rogers, 71, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born June 23, 1929, in New York. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mailman by the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, the Shafton Fire Hall and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and Navy. He is survived by his wife, Jean Pringle Rogers; a son, Joseph J. Rogers and his wife, Ronna, of Pittsburgh; and two granddaughters, Carissa and Stephanie Rogers. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. Dorothy H. Rau Schmidt, 87, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in Kane Regional, Ross. Born April 4, 1913, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Zwigart Rau. Mrs. Schmidt worked in the housekeeping department at Allegheny General Hospital before her retirement. Survivors include a son, William G. Schmidt of Florida; three brothers , Henry Rau of Pittsburgh, William Workman of Nevada and Fred Rau of Pittsburgh; a sister, Helen Hanson of Ross; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav W. Schmidt; a daughter, Dorothy May Glusic; and two brothers , Pius Rau and Walter Rau. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until services at noon Tuesday in SHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 388 Center Ave., West View. The Rev. D.J. Quirin, pastor of Highland Grove United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Union Dale Cemetery, North Side.

Imogene Millen Scull, 90, of Friendship Village, Upper St. Clair, formerly of Baldwin Township, died Saturday, July 22, 2000. She was born June 29, 1910, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte Gabriel Millen. She was a member of Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Scull. She is survived by two sons , George R. Scull and his wife, Judy, of Waynesburg and John M. Scull and his wife, Shari, of Worthington, Ohio; three grandchildren, Patrick Walling and Shannon and Allison Scull; two brothers , John R. Millen of New Alexandria and Phillip Millen of Greensburg; three sisters , Marjorie Dougan of Greensburg, Patricia Tharp of Garland, Texas , and Barbara Carroll of Cockeysville, Md. Also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Dr. William Gracey officiating. Richard G. Shaffer Jr., 32, of Derry, died Thursday, July 20, 2000. He was born Aug. 11, 1967, in Latrobe, a son of Susan V. Hill Shaffer of Derry RD and the late Richard G. Shaffer Sr. An employee of K&N Paving of Greensburg, he was a graduate and vice president of Derry Area High School Class of 1985; and 1989 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, where he was a two-time All-American wrestler. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. "Kathy" Daniels Shaffer; his son, Travis J. Shaffer at home; a brother, Thomas H. Shaffer of Derry RD; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Lynda) Joseph of Jennerstown; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Vern Hill of Derry; his Father - and mother -in-law, Joseph and Mary Ann Daniels of St. Michael; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, Hillview Avenue, Latrobe, with the Rev. William P. Donahue as celebrant.
