MARK J. LAVELLE
Mark J. LaVelle, 46, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Monday March 14, 2005 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.
Born March 28, 1958 in Aliquippa, a son of the late James J. LaVelle and Helen (Tkach) LaVelle, he was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Mark was the former owner of the Holiday Lounge in Hopewell Twp.
He enjoyed owning and working on Harley Davidsons, he was a NASCAR fan, and loved spending time at his camp in the mountains.
In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by two brothers, Tom LaVelle, Hopewell Twp., and Kenneth LaVelle and his wife Barbara, Hopewell Twp.; four nephews, Matthew LaVelle, Brad LaVelle, Kenneth LaVelle, Jr., and Jordon LaVelle; three nieces, Julie Acor, Dina Fidell, and Geneane LaVelle; Special Friends, Patty Desport, Fuji and Lee Dominick, Nick and Theresa Evanochko, Pete Haber, Walt Miller, Shelly and Jeff McLaughlin and many dear friends from the Holiday Lounge.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4pm until the time of service at 7pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa.

Jane Day Sickeler
Jane Day Sickeler, 77, of Hopewell Twp. passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005 in the St. John’s Lutheran Care Center, Mars, PA.
Born Sept. 7, 1927 in Harrisburg, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Murtle Day, she was a coordinator at a Senior Center in Maryland.
She was very active in the Girl Scouts, being a troop leader and was also a member of AAUW.
Jane enjoyed reading and was also know for being a talented singer, singing at weddings and other local events.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Jones and husband William, Hagerestown, MD; two sons, Robert Sickeler and wife Cathy, Fairfield, CT and Keith Sickeler and wife Jackie, Hopewell; a sister, Katherine Wall and husband James, Dover, DE and seven grandchildren, Airman First Class William Jones, Georgia, Jessica and Sarah Jones, MD, Jacob and Ross Sickeler, Hopewell and Robert Sickeler, CT.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Sickeler and a brother, Ralph Day.
Services will be private and entrusted to the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.
Frances Todora
Frances Todora, 82, of Aliquippa, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in the Beaver Medical Center.
Born Feb. 2, 1923 in Aliquippa, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy Todora, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Frances was former Banking Officer and Assistant Manager at Mellon Bank in Aliquippa. She also spent a lot of time at the BF Jones Memorial Library reading to the children. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and community.
She is survived by a brother, Albert Todora and wife Hilda, Sun City, FL; a sister-in-law, Else Todora, Aliquippa; brother-in-law, Bob Trump, Aliquippa, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic, John and Louis as well as a sister, Helen Trump.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 6-8pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Monday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Carole J. Raupp
Carol J. Raupp, 63, of Raccoon Twp., passed away Friday April 8, 2005 peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 29, 1941 in Chicago, IL., a daughter of the late Albert J. Thebault and Mary C. (Moran Thebault) Behn, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
In addition to her father, Carole was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Tilton, and a grandson, Stephen Wertz-Raupp.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Henry G. Raupp, Raccoon Twp.; three sons, Frank D. Raupp, Raccoon Twp., Albert J. Raupp and his wife, Donna, Findlay Twp., and Nicholas H. Raupp and his wife Keri, Monaca Heights.; two daughters, Ginger Domitrovich and her husband Anthony, Independence Twp., and Hallie Hysong, Center Twp.; 12 grandchildren, Cheryl Domitrovich, Caitlyn Domitrovich, Brandon Hysong, Jessica Hysong, Justin Hysong, Theresa Domitrovich, Alex Wertz, Daniel Raupp, Matthew Raupp, Maximillian Wertz-Raupp, Rachael Domitrovich, and Xavier Wertz-Raupp; and a sister, Collette Clausen, Chicago, IL.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 7-9pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa where a service will be conducted on Tuesday at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Virginia Mariani
Virginia Mariani, 97, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Monday April 11, 2005 at Villa St. Joseph, Baden.
Born August 3, 1907 in Pacentro, Italy a daughter of the late Pietro and Luisa DeChellis, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Mariani; two sons, Luigi and Leonardo Mariani; and two brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by a son, Pete Mariani and his wife Silvana, Robinson Twp.; two daughters, Luisa M. Rubino, Aliquippa, and Velia Mariani, Hopewell Twp.; a daughter in law, Ann Mariani, Pittsburgh, a sister, Bambina LaLama, New Castle; 12 grandchildren, Joe Rubino, Gino Rubino, Rosemarie Moskal, Anna Neilson, Angela Fabbrini, Lenny Mariani, Adam Mariani, Anthony Mariani, Virginia Bechek, Lisa Gerlac, Eliana McConaghy, and David Mariani; and 20 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa where a service will be conducted on Friday at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
Geraldine “Gerry” Holmes
Geraldine “Gerry” Holmes”, 77, of Independence Twp., passed away, Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 9, 1927 in Wareham, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Pipher, she was a member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Hopewell Twp.
She was also a volunteer at the Aliquippa Community Hospital for a number of years where she helped out with Ministerial duties.
Gerry was a very giving person who also enjoyed a variety of crafts.
She will be dearly missed by her family and numerous friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Peters and husband Douglas, CA; two sons, William Holmes, Montana and Robert Holmes and wife Patricia, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Pipher and wife Evelyn, Mass., and a sister, Ruth Divine, GA.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Fontaine.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am, with Pastor John Heidengren officiating.

Kasimere J. (Kas) Barkovich
Kasimere J. Barkovich, 77, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 in Sewickley valley Hospital after a long courageous battle with emphyzema.
Born Feb. 3, 1927 in Aliquippa, PA, a son of the late John and Rose (Kerlin) Barkovich, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa.
He graduated from Hopewell High School in 1945 and was a US Army Aircorps veteran, who served overseas as a Corporal with the 1386 Military Police.
He retired from Universal-Cyclops Specialty Steel Division in 1982.
He was Catholic by faith and belonged to the Aliquippa Branch VFW.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Barkovich and Violet (Pallone) Barkovich.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa (Josie) Barkovich; a son, Randy Barkovich, Boardman, OH and John Barkovich and wife, Diane; a daughter, Sandy McKeever and husband Richard; five grandchildren, Tara, Erin, John, Brian and Leah Barkovich; a great-grandson, Baby Marcus, all from Hopewell; an aunt, Helen Florsic, Baden.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8om in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Friday at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.
The Beaver County Special Unit will meet in the Mt. Olivet catholic Cemetery on Friday at 12pm to perform military honors.
William “Bill” Oaks, Jr.
William “Bill” Oaks, Jr., 71, of Aliquippa, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 14, 1932 in Aliquippa, a son of the late William, Sr. and Marie Oaks, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa.
Bill was a retired steel worker from the LTV Steel Corp..
He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served during the Korean Conflict.
Bill was a loving husband and friend, who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Bernice (Bergandy) Oaks, Aliquippa; a brother, James Oaks and friend Janice Davis, New Castle, PA; three sisters, Virginia Muslin and husband Rudy, Portersville, PA, Patricia Beatty and husband James, West View, PA and Pamela Bratich and husband Daniel, Center Twp.; two sisters-in-law, Nelma Meehan and husband Bill, Aliquippa and Veronica Short, Hopewell; two brothers-in-law, Donald Short, Aliquippa and James Bergandy and wife Rosanne, Moon Twp.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.
