William James Kincaid, 72, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in Manor Care Nursing Home, Ross. Born May 19, 1928, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Irene R. Wright Kincaid. Mr. Kincaid was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 142 and Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include Florence Weigand Kincaid of Spring Hill; two daughters , Michele Williams of Dormont and Judy Simons of Pittsburgh; a son, William J. Kincaid Jr. of Pittsburgh; and seven grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross, where services will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Lynn Chester Edwards officiating. Burial will be private.
Andrew E. 'Lucky' Lakovic

Andrew E. "Lucky" Lakovic, 81, of McKeesport, died on Friday, July 21, 2000 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1918 in McKeesport, a son of the late Michael and Mary Ivan Lakovic. He is survived by two daughters , Marlene Lacey of Elizabeth, and Victoria "Vickie" Lakovic of McKeesport; five grandchildren; one sister, Ann Kapfer of Las Vegas, formerly of North Versailles; nieces and nephews. Mr. Lakovic was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from US Steel National Works where he worked as a billet roller. He was a member of St. Mary Czestochowa Church, American Legion Burt Foster Post #361, McKeesport Amvets Post #8, PNA Lodge #352, and Jednota Lodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lakovic was preceded in death by his wife, Domicella Cecelia Rybka Lakovic, and a son, Victor A. Lakovic. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday in JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2703 O'Neil Blvd., McKeesport, where services will be in the chapel at 1 p.m. Monday. Mary H. Lee, 91, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital, following hip surgery. She was born June 16, 1909, in New Derry, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fiorina Lee. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Latrobe. As the founder and retired owner of the Mary Lee Travel Agency in Latrobe for 50 years, Mary was a pioneer for women in business. She is best known for introducing motor coach tours, steamship lines and airline travel to the greater Latrobe area. Her reputation for commitment and excellent service won her Latrobe's local industry travel contracts throughout the years. Mary's skills and contributions were recognized by her peers in the travel industry across America. She was elected as the first woman president of the National Tour Association Inc. and became the driving force in expanding the Association membership across the country. She also served as the first woman president of the Latrobe Chamber of Commerce. In November 1999, she was inducted into the National Tourism Foundation Hall of Fame. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Capt. Chester M. Lee. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Rose M. Lee, and two nieces, Virginia A. Lee and Nancy Lee Cusher, all of McLean, Va.; a nephew, David J. Lee and his wife, Carol, of Springfield, Va.; an aunt, Elsie Mazero of Latrobe; cousins, Dr. T. Jean Mazero and Dr. and Mrs. J. Robert Mazero, all of Latrobe; and nine great-nieces and -nephews. There will be no public visitations at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Thomas Lukac as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. Family and friends will be received at the Barnes House, 2021 James St., Latrobe, immediately following the graveside service. Mary D. (Sutek) Lomicka, 85, of Penn Hills died on Thursday, July 20, 2000. She was born on October 22, 1914 in Lyndora, PA. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Concilio; and one son, Frank E. Lomicka; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank. Mrs. Lomicka was a long time member of Grace Evangelical Church, Penn Hills. Ann E. (Farrell) Lubovinsky, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Martorella Farrell. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Connellsville Sportswear. Mrs. Lubovinsky was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. "Midge" Lubovinsky, on March 20, 1999; her brother, Anthony Farrell; and sisters , Frances Farrell and Josephine Kaczorowski. Ann was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Janice Scekeres and her husband, James, of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters, Allison and Ashley Scekeres; and her sisters , Rose Seisek and Regina Farrell, both of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Transfiguration R.C. Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in Transfiguration parish cemetery. John W. Mathews, 90, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Born Jan. 8, 1910, in Connoquenessing, he was the son of the late Isiah and the Lulu Bolton Mathews. Mr. Mathews was a World War II veteran and received the American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople. He also was a member of the VFW Post 2754 in West View. He was formerly employed as a truck driver by Long Transportation, Detriot, Mich. Survivors include his second wife, Marie Mathews; a daughter, Susan Koontz of Sheridan; a brother, Harold Mathews of Evans City; three sisters , Esther Dambaugh of Evans City, Mary McClellen of Princeton and Goldie Sloan of Evans City; and three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Maier Mathews; three sisters ; and three brothers . Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Victoria H. Means, 91, a resident of Westmoreland Manor, formerly of Jeannette, died Saturday, July 22, 2000. She was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Claridge, a daughter of the late Jan and Ludwika Soboleski. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the former Zanarini brothers Greenhouse of Jeannette. Victoria was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Jeannette and its Rosary Altar Society. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wesley W. Means, in 1978; an infant daughter, Dolores Means; two sisters , Caroline Stankowich and Frances Maturi; and two brothers , Valentine and John Soboleski. She is survived by two sons , Wesley B. Means and wife, Joan, of Jeannette and Jack K. Means and wife, Lorna, of Utah; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. Edna A. Merlino, 80, of Derry, died Friday, July 21, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Derry, a daughter of the late Camillo and Elena Trilli Sylvester. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Westmoreland Human Opportunities Inc. and had worked for Combined Insurance for 21 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers , Lewis L., Arthur and Ardwin Sylvester; and sisters , Mary Snyder, Jean LaRocco and Louise Owens. Edna is survived by a son, "Corky" and his wife, Kathleen Merlino, of Ligonier; two daughters , Roberta Jean Puskar and her husband, Michael, of Latrobe and Patricia Sarsfield and her husband, Timothy, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Angela Puskar and Melissa and David Sarsfield; a sister, Diane Brown of Louisiana ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy M. "Peggy" Miller, 73, of Brighton Heights, formerly of McKees Rocks, died on Thursday, July 20, 2000 in Allegheny General Hospital. She was born in Pittsburgh on July 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Cletus and Mary Wiley Lilly. She was a retired cook for Stouffers Restaurant. She is survived by six daughters , Joyce Burns and her husband Bob, of McKees Rocks, Beth Caro and her husband, Chuck of Zelienople, Susan Wharton and her husband, Todd of Imperial, Jean Miller and her husband Harry, of Carnegie, and Carol Miller of McKees Rocks and Dolores Wilson of Pittsburgh; and three sons , Edwin Miller of North Carolina, Joe Miller and his wife, Denise of Ross, David Miller and his wife Michaela of Bellvue; two sisters , Grace Crooks of Fineview, and Jean Niemczyk of Brighton Heights; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wisnieswski, and three brothers , Edward, Cletus, and Robert Lilly.
