Vinita Bradley Bastian
Mrs. Vinita Bradley Bastian, 84, of 1201 W. Third St., Connersville, IN, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Caroleton Manor Nursing Home. She had been in failing health since Sept. of 1991.
She was born Sept. 15, 1917, in suburban Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Katherine and Moscow Bradley. She attended high school in Konawa, OK, East Central State Teachers College in Ada, OK and graduated from the Hills business college in Oklahoma City.
She resided in York and Abington from 1950 until 1965, when she moved to Connersville, IN. While in Connversville, she became an active member of her community. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and had previously been a member of the Presbyterian and Methodist Church in Konawa, OK, Arlington, VA and Abington.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard C. "Len" Bastian, whom she married on Sept. 13, 1941, in Washington, DC. She is also survived by a son, Kevin Bastian of Eureka, CA and two grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Bastian, one brother, Thomas Bradley and one sister, Zeno Longfellow.
Private visitation will be held on Thursday with burial at Dale Cemetery in Indiana. A public memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Connersville, IN, with Rev. Bill Helms officiating.
Funeral arrangements are by Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville.
Jane L. Frederick
Jane L. Frederick, 82, of 1414 Shiffler Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Olean, NY, the daughter of Charles and Letha Fluent Miller.
She and her husband, George Frederick, were married March 21, 1942.
She was a graduate of Dickinson Junior College and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Womens Club, the Clio Club and the Cosmopolitan Club, where she was a past-president. She was an avid bridge player.
She was a member of Covenant-Central Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by a son, Charles M. Frederick of Williamsport; a daughter, Kathy Booth of Annapolis, MD and four grandchildren, Romain and Justin Bastian of Annapolis, MD and Lindsey and Allison Frederick of Williamsport.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Maneval Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 500 West Fourth St. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

John 'Jack' E. Puterbaugh
John E. 'Jack' Puterbaugh, 68, of 2155 Bodines Road, Trout Run, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in the Williamsport Hospital Emergency Room, after being stricken at home.
He and his wife, the former June M. Webster, would have observed their 50th wedding anniversary on April 24, 2002.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Red Run Rod & Gun Club in Roaring Branch, American Legion Post 0945 and the Marine Corp. League in Ralston. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard sales and auctions. He retired from Smith Glass in Bodines and worked part time for the Lewis Township Maintenance Department.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1933, in East Lemon, a son of Mervin R. and Charlotte L. White Puterbaugh.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, of Bodines, are six daughters, Catherine A. Oliver of Bodines, Tina M. Cashner of Woolrich, Cheryl L. Thorpe of Lock Haven, Brenda K. Greene of Muncy, Dawn L. Boyd of Morrisdale and Jackolyn S. Sanner of Bodines; a brother, Robert E. of Linden; a niece, Roxann Luxenberger of Salladasburg; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Lewis Township Building, RR2 Trout Run, PA 17771.
Vada A. Bruno
Vada A. Bruno, 89, of Hanover, formerly of Williamsport, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born March 22, 1912, in Spook Hollow, she was the daughter of the late Maynard A. and Margaret J. Willits Cohick. She was the ex-wife of the late Harold Kuntz and Joseph B. Bruno.
Vada is survived by two sons, Harry Kuntz of Scottsdale, AZ and Danny Kuntz of Ashtabula, OH; four daughters, JoAnna M. Dickerson of Hanover, DiAnna I. Potter and Mary Bilby, both of Williamsport and Helen Kuntz of Scottsdale, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one brother, William Cohick of Williamsport.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester Cohick, Benjamin Cohick, Maynard Cohick, Weldon Cohick and five sisters, Sylvia Roan, Margaret Roan, Mildren Lockhart, Louise Sotack and Elsie Breining.
Following cremation, graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Elsie B. Montz
Elsie B. Montz, 76, of Medina, OH, formerly of Williamsport, died Feb. 10, 2002.
She was the beloved wife of Robert H. Montz for 59 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Sunkel and Cherie (Mike) Brello; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Wanda Rosser.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Jennie R. Schessley Ostrander.

Elizabeth Teressa Norris
Elizabeth Teressa Norris, 74, of 2853 Cochran Ave., South Williamsport, died Tuesday, Dec. 25 2001, in Williamsport Hospital. She and her husband, Frank W. Norris, Sr., were married Dec. 31, 1955.
Born Jan. 19, 1927, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of George and Theresa Judak Duran. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension and was a homemaker for most of her life.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Teressa Russitano and Diane Glace, both of city and Pamela McCabe of Duboistown; two sons, Frank Norris Jr. of city and Edward Norris of Hunt Valley, MD; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Ritter, of Allentown. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Ascension, 2101 Linn St., with the Rev. Charles J. Cummings officiating. Burial will be held in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be private.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of ones choice.

Anna M. Shuman
Anna M. Shuman, 59, of 124 Locust St., Jersey Shore, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in the Jersey Shore Hospital Emergency Room. Born Sept. 12, 1942, in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of Cleon R. Shuman and the former Cora Garnhart.
She retired from the former Northern Central Bank (now M&T; Bank) working in the Avis and Woodward Offices. She attended the Avis United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and quilting, and she loved her dog and cats.
Surviving are four sisters, Barbara L. Feerrar of Avis, Carol L. Wool of Oval, Rebecca R. Gromley of Jersey Shore and Roberta M. Younkin of Jersey Shore and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Avis United Methodist Church, corner of Prospect and Park Sts., Avis, with the Rev. Bruce Wehler, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jersey Shore, officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday till time of services in the church. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Avis United Methodist Church, Prospect and Park Sts., Avis, PA 17721.

Scott E. Rippey
Scott E. Rippey, 19, of 319 Walnut St., Lock Haven, died Dec. 23, 2001, in Limestone Twp. He was born June 3, 1982, in Lock Haven, the son of Stephen E. Rippey and Brenda K. Duck Bogenrief.
A 2000 graduate of Central Mountain High School, he worked at Albright Mills and NAPA Auto Parts.
He is survived by his parents, Stephen E. and Jennifer L. Rippey of Lock Haven and Brenda K. Bogenrief of Montgomery; paternal grandmother, Virginia M. Rippey of Lock Haven; maternal grandparents, Ann and Ronald Duck of TX; maternal great-grandmother Martha Sparks of Jersey Shore; step-grandmother Sharon Opal of Lock Haven; brothers Kyle H. Rippey and Jacob T. Bogenrief of Montgomery and sister Rachel Crawford of Lock Haven.
A graveside service will be held at Graveside Woolrich Cemetery, Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Woolrich Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may go to the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven.
Mary O. Turrell
Mary O. Turrell, 78, of Wellsboro, died Dec. 26, 2001. She was an Army Nurse Corps veteran of WWII.
Survivors include brothers Robert, John and Jerome ODell and sister Donna Merrill.
Friends may call at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday with a wake service at 8:30. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church, Central Ave., Wellsboro.
Ruth H. Miller
Ruth H. Miller, 89, of Lewisburg, died Sunday Dec. 23, 2001, at RiverWoods.
She was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Lewis Township, a daughter of the late Sherman J. and Susan L. (Foust) Cotner. She was married to the Rev. George L. Miller who died in 1964, former minister of Heshbon Park.
Mrs. Miller retired in 1984 from the United Methodist Home after 28 years of employment in the dietary department.
She is a 1931 graduate of Turbotville High School.
Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Lewisburg. She was also a Sunday school teacher.
She helped start the present kitchen at Riverview on the RiverWoods complex.
Mrs. Miller enjoyed flowers. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, George Wayne and Roxanne Miller of RR3 Lewisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois M. and Frank Wagner of RR3 Watsontown, and Phyliss M. and John Dyer of Winfield; six grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were a grandson, Roger W. Ranck, on Sunday, Dec. 16; one brother, Ralph Cotner, and one sister, Lucille Adams.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, by the Rev. Andrew Morgan.
A private burial will be in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
