Mary Irene Barber Buzas

Mary Irene Barber Buzas, age 97, of Easton Pa, passed away on August 24, 2012 in New Eastwood Nursing Home in Easton.
Born: Mary was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the Late James Borbély and Late Sophia Szabo.
Personal: Wife of the Late Arthur Buzas, they were married 67 years at the time of his passing. Together they founded and built an agricultural business including, Buzas’ Greenhouse.
Memberships: Mary was a member of the Moorestown Garden Club. She was a 4H leader. She enjoyed bowling in the Bar-Don Bowling League. Mary was a member of the PA Flower Growers Association, Monroe & Northampton Farm Bureau Association and the Penn State University Agricultural Extension Activities.
Survivors: Mary is survived by two daughters, Beverly Hoyer, wife of Robert Hoyer of Lower Nazareth and Dr. Lorriane Mineo, wife of Isidore C. Mineo of Williams Twp. Four grandchildren, Nicole and Julia Hoyer of Nazareth, Andre Mineo of Palmer Twp. and Charles Mineo of Bethlehem Twp. Six great grandchildren, and her sister, Elizabeth Inscho of West Virginia.

Myla Jean Dedert
(March 1, 1931 - August 27, 2012)
Myla Jean Turpen Dedert passed away on August 27 in Bethlehem, PA.
Born: She was born in Sullivan, Indiana on March 1, 1931, the daughter of Dallas James and Muriel Anderson Turpen.
Personal: After graduating from Sullivan High School and Union Hospital School of Nursing in Terre Haute, she married Robert Dedert and they moved to Aberdeen, Maryland. They subsequently lived in Milwaukee, WI and Collingdale, PA, before settling in Bethlehem in 1960. Myla devoted herself to her home and family, was an active member of her church, and often served as a volunteer, particularly with Meals on Wheels. For a number of years she also worked part-time as a pediatric nurse at Easton Hospital. She was a talented seamstress who delighted in making clothing, upholstery, and draperies. She loved to play cards and enjoyed many games of bridge and euchre with her family and friends. All will remember her loving care, generosity and spirit, the games she taught and shared, her energy and humor, and the personal photo albums and birthday cards she created.
Survivors: She will be greatly missed by her husband of 57 years, Robert R. Dedert; her daughter Patricia L. Dedert and husband Michiel E. Ultee of Hillsborough NJ; daughter Donna J. Dedert-Clark of Mechanicsburg PA; son James R. Dedert and wife Cindy of Smithville MO; son Carl R. Dedert and fiancée Marci Brown of Allentown PA; her seven grandchildren, Jeffrey and Timothy Ultee and wife Carly, Brittany Clark, Samuel and RJ Dedert, Austin and Colin Dedert; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Rozara Carden, Patricia Fisher, Margaret Jane Rice, and her brother John Turpen.
Services: Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). An additional calling hour will be held on Friday from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA, followed by a Funeral service at 11:30 in the church. Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park, Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA.

Chafiq J. Melhem, 73, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 4th in Manor Care, Palmer Twp. Born: Chafiq was born in Kfarsghab Lebanon, a son of the late Jahjah and Nadima Melhem. Personal: Chafiq previously was a steel fabricator at the former Argo Welded of Phillipsburg, NJ, most recently he was self-employed in the Real Estate Industry. Memberships: Chafiq was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. Survivors: Chafiq is survived by his wife Badawiyeh (Saliba) Melhem; sons Jahjah Melhem of Wilson Boro, Izzat Melhem of Philadelphia; daughters Nadimeh Melhem of Wilson Boro, Cheffie Melhem Azar and husband Larry; sisters Josephine Koury of Easton, Chafica Koury of Easton, Sue Olson of Wind Gap; a brother Melhem Melhem of Easton; grandchildren Peter Melhem, Rill Melhem; great grandchildren Christopher, Braiden, Owen, and Carter. He is predeceased by a son Jahjah; brothers Izzat and Joseph Melhem. Ann L. Cusano

Ann L. Cusano, 93, of Palmer Twp., PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 4th in Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born: Ann was born in Easton, a daughter of the late Paul and Nancy Cianci. Personal: Ann worked as an Auto License Clerk for Doug Cooper Ford & Northampton County AAA, and later was a Picture Photo License Clerk for Pen Dot, before retiring in 2002. She served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII. She also worked as a volunteer at election polls in Palmer Twp., and she held the position of Judge of Minority Elections for many years. Memberships: Ann was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. Survivors: Ann is survived by her daughter Joan Cusano of Philadelphia, PA; son-in-law Frank Bastian of Danville, PA; grandchildren Nina Bastian of NY, NY, Rachel Bastian of Philadelphia, PA and Matthew Bastian of State College, PA. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Cusano; daughter the late Dawn Cusano Bastian; sisters the late Laura Scarpino, the late Jean Daniels, and the late Mary Bogantz. Concetta A. Vulcano

Concetta A. “Jenny” (Rizzo) Vulcano, 85 of Macungie, PA passed away Thursday September 13, 2012 in Lehigh Center, Macungie.
Born: She was born in Easton a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Rizzo.
Personal: Concetta was preceded in death by her husband Patsy A. Vulcano in 1982. She was employed as a machine operator for Northampton Pants for many years. Later she was employed as a custodian for Wilson Area School District at Phillip Lauer Middle School retiring in 1995.
Memberships: She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality.
Survivors: Concetta is survived by her son Thomas and wife Alexis Vulcano of Cresco, PA; daughter Diane Vulcano Sitoski of Allentown; a sister Margaret Cunningham of Palmer Twp, 3 grandchildren Jessica Snyder, William Snyder, Megan Vulcano and 3 great grandchildren Anthony and Andrew Martinez and Payton Grace Bececker. In addition to her husband, sisters Anna DeStefano, and Nancy Stout preceded Concetta in death.

Margaret Mary Crotty, 91 of Palmer Twp. passed away Friday September 14, 2012 in her home.
Born: She was born in 1921 a daughter of the late Francis P. and Margaret Morrall Crotty.
Personal: Margaret was employed as a RN for Warren Hospital retiring in 1981.
Memberships: She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp
Survivors: Margaret is survived by her nieces.

Unis J. Baurkot

Unis J. Baurkot, 79, of Alpha, NJ, passed away on Friday, September 14th in Easton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born: Unis was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Raymond and Maggie Baurkot. Personal: Unis was a co-owner of Raymond Baurkot & Sons and Allentown Beverage. He was a graduate of Easton Catholic High School, Seton Hall University, and attended American University Law School before joining his father in business. Unis served in the US Army during peacetime. He owned and raced harness horses in PA, NJ, NY, and MD. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was dedicated to his family. Memberships: Unis was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Easton and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ. He was also a member of the U.S. Trotting Association. Survivors: Unis is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Riggio) Baurkot; sons Raymond J. Baurkot and wife Karen of Palmer Twp., John Baurkot and wife Beverly of Forks Twp.; daughters Suzanne Unis Baurkot Simon of Palmer Twp., Margaret Ann Baurkot and husband Matthieu Celerier of Paris, France, Dina Kennedy and husband Kory Kennedy of Maplewood, NJ; sister Sanna Baurkot; brothers George, Samuel and Raymond Baurkot, Jr.; grandchildren Jaclyn Unis, David, John Unis, Lisha, Joseph, Michael, Walker, Alexandre, Archer, and many nieces and nephews. Rodman R. Wagner, 90, of Easton, passed away on Friday, September 21st in his home.
Born: Rodman was born in Wilson Boro, PA, a son of the late Stephen and Mabel Wagner.
Personal: Rodman was a printer/press operator for Mack Printing. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Memberships: He was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Wilson Boro.
Survivors: Rodman is survived by his son Edward C. DelSole and wife Ramona of Waverly, PA; grandchildren Edward Marc DelSole and Caroline Grace DelSole. He is predeceased by his wife Grace Wagner.

Irene L. Tuskes

Irene Lillian Tuskes, 84, of Bethlehem Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23rd in St. Luke’s Hospital with her family at her side.
Born: Irene was born in Bethlehem, PA, a daughter of the late Teresa (Meilinger) and Joseph Unger.
Personal: Irene “Lillian” was married to Charles for 62 years prior to his passing in 2010. She was proud of her loving family. She was an avid bridge player and attained the level of Life Master. She enjoyed playing bridge at the Lehigh County Senior Center, Bethlehem, Bridge Club, Easton Bridge Club and the Temple Covenant of Peace in Easton.

Survivors: Irene is survived by her son Charles M. Tuskes and his wife Pamela of Easton, PA; daughter Terrianne Tuskes of Loxahatchee, FL; grandchildren Michael and his wife Amanda, Lisa (Tuskes) wife of Jeffrey Calandra, Dana (Tuskes) wife of Daniel Fratantoro; three great-grandchildren Madison Tuskes, Marco Calandra and Mason Fratantoro all residing in Easton, PA; and a sister Theresa "Tess" Fogle of Hampton, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Tuskes; sisters Catherine "Kitty" Sabota, Margaret Bok, Helen Horvath, Francis Smith; brothers Joseph Unger and John Unger.

Samuel R. Gerbino, Sr.

Samuel R. Gerbino, Sr., 92 of Bethlehem Twp., passed away Thursday September 27, 2012 in Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem.
Born: He was born in 1920 a son of the late Russell and Rosalie Cuvo Gerbino.
Personal: Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Concetta in 1998. He was employed as an insurance manager for Met-Life for over 30 years until his retirement in 1988. Samuel was a graduate of Easton High School class of 1938. He proudly served our country as a Sergeant during WWII.
Memberships: Samuel was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton where he also was a member of the Golden Age Club.
Survivors: Samuel is survived by his sons, Russell Gerbino and wife Jean of Cinnaminson, NJ, Samuel R. Gerbino, Jr. and wife Pearl of Easton; daughters Rosalie Staudt and husband Rick of Mohnton, PA, Charlene Kurylo and husband Ron of Harleysville, PA; a brother Joseph Gerbino of Easton; grandchildren Gabrielle, Jamie, Chad, Erin, Nathan; great grandchildren Abigail, Sophie; step-grandchildren Diana, Antoinette and step-great grandchildren Collen and Abagail. In addition to his wife, sisters Annette Pierce, Mary Olive Rocarro and a grandchild Krista preceded Samuel in death.

Mary Zacharias, 82, of Easton, PA, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 in Easton Nursing Center.
Born: Mary was born in Easton, PA, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Julia Pennise.
Personal: Mary was a clerk for the borough of West Easton for 30 years, and a tax collector for West Easton for 16 years. She was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1948, and attended Churchman’s Business College.
Memberships: Mary was a member of Salem UCC in Moorestown.
Survivors: Mary is survived by her son-in-law Lee M. Smith and a grandchild Michael Smith. She is preceded in death by her first husband Robert Transue; second husband Harley Zacharias; daughter Donna M. Smith; a sister Rose Santini and a brother Sam Pennise.
