MILDRED HELMS

Mildred Helms, 85, of South Connellsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, in Eicher's Family Home in Normalville. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, with the Rev. David Bashor officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill Grove Cemetery.

RONALD JAMES HERAK

Ronald James Herak, 49, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of John Jr. and Caroline (Hulina) Herak of North Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth John Herak. He was employed as an electronic assembler at Contraves Co., Keystone Commons Building, East Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Also, he was a member of the Guthrie F&AM #759 of Pleasant Hills; played as a musician in the "Barons," a Pittsburgh variety band; and was a member of ASERB. Friends were received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan P. Hardt officiating. Interment in the New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles. Masonic services will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.

MILDRED C. MILLER

Mildred C. Miller, 70, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at home. She was born March 21, 1929, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Frederick and Frances Spore Riefler. Prior to retirement, she worked in the medical records department at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, and the JDMH Retirees. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Miller Jr.; a brother, Donald Riefler. She is survived by two sisters , Mary Price of Norwood, Mass., and Veronica Strathmann of Forest Hills; four sisters -in-law, Mary Jane Zetter of Greensburg, Adeline Riefler of Youngstown, Ohio, Catherine Miller of Irwin, and Dolores Pollard of West Hartford, Conn.; a brother-in-law, Myron Miller of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church with Father James Loew, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

DANIEL H. MOORE JR.

Daniel H. Moore Jr., 69, of Irwin, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born March 10, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Daniel H. Sr. and Helen Loughry Moore. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp. at its Cheswick plant. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Irwin, the Shidle Lodge #601 Free and Accepted Masons of Irwin, the Valley of Coudersport Consistory, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, the Shrine Gun Club of Pittsburgh, the White Oak Rod and Gun Club, and the VFW Post 8427 of Herminie. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn G. Best Moore; a daughter, Beth Guidus and her husband, Keith, of Lake Forest, Calif.; two sons , Daniel H. Moore III of Mt. Pleasant and John A. Moore and his wife, Kathy Lynn, of Bear Rocks; five grandchildren, Ryan K. Guidus of Lake Forest Calif., Jacob D. and Jennifer D. Moore of Jeannette, Lisa C. and Sean D. Moore and their mother , Karen Sue Moore, of Herminie. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Shidle Lodge #601 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a Masonic service at the funeral home Friday at 8:15 p.m. to be followed by a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m.

MARK J. SHUEY

Mark J. Shuey, 48, of Irwin, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born March 19, 1951, in Greensburg, a son of Louis C. Shuey of Greensburg and the late Blanche M. Stanick Shuey. He formerly had been employed by the Dow Chemical Co. Mark was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Harrison City, the Latrobe Elks, Knights of Columbus Council 1480 of Greensburg, the PTGO, and a social member of the Harrison City Firemen's Club. In addition to his mother , he was preceded in death by his mother -in-law, Dolores "Dolly" Giles. In addition to his Father , he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Catherine "Cathy" Giles Shuey; two sons , Jason Mark Shuey and Nathan Charles Shuey, both at home; a sister, Dr. Louise Shuey Pavia and her husband, John, of Oakmont; two brothers , William E. Shuey of Bovard and John Paul Shuey and his wife, Melinda, of Greensburg; his Father -in-law, Jerome J. Giles and his wife, Betty, of Greensburg; sisters -in-law, Cindy Hyatt and her husband, David, Sharon Asbee and her husband, Dennis, Mary Beth Giles, Jerri Liming, Donna J. Sowa and her husband, Charles, Susan McClintock and her husband, Dave, and Kelly Giles; a brother-in-law, Arnie Giles; two aunts, Helen Dahlem and Sophie Sopko; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Friends were received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. V. Paul Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice. Members of the GVFD Hose Co. 8 will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. A vigil service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

MICHAEL JOSEPH VIKARTOVSKY

Michael Joseph Vikartovsky, 79, of Peebles, Ohio, died Sunday, March 5, 2000. He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Steve and Julia Zoldak Vikartovsky. Beloved Father of Bonnie Newman, Michael, Patricia Stroup, Mary Wabnitz and Thomas. Brother of Jane Scarford of Avon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy; five sisters ; and five brothers . He was a graduate of the former Hurst High School and Xavier University, Ohio, and was a member of the Xavier Legion of Honor in 1947. He was a veteran of World War II. There will be a service at Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Anthony W. Ditto officiating. Local arrangements provided by GALONE-CARUSO'S, Mt. Pleasant.

ROBERT C. BOWMAN
Robert C. "Bob" Bowman, 74, of Scottdale, passed away Friday morning, March 10, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of the late Robert Leroy and Lida Creighton Bowman. Bob married the former Dorothy Crosby on June 15, 1946. Bob was a retired trailer truck driver with the former B&P Motor Express of Irwin, where he worked for nearly 25 years. He was previously employed by ABF Trucking in Hunker. Bob was a member of the Pennsville Baptist Church, the Greater Scottdale Community Senior Citizens, and the Scottdale Firemen's Club. He also enjoyed working as an auto mechanic. Bob is survived by his loving family: his wife of 53 years, Dorothy M. Crosby Bowman; his three children, Charles W. "Butch" Bowman and wife, Debbie, of Everson, Roberta C. Gross of Scottdale and Sandra D. Williams and husband, Rick, of Woodstock, Va.; his seven grandchildren, Wendi Weiner and husband, Todd, Dawn Townsend and husband, Mike, Lisa McLaughlin, Steven Gross, Stanley Gross, Danielle Williams and Joshua Williams; his three great-grandchildren, Tara O'Neal, Aarron Townsend and Jamie Williams; his six sisters , Mary Cumberland of Wooddale, Margaret Barko of Connellsville, Dorothy Hostettler of Mt. Pleasant, Frances Barko and husband, Theodore, of Greensburg, Clara Barko and husband, Joel, of Ruffsdale and LaVerne Sultzer and husband, Edward, of Bullskin Township; his four brothers , Kenneth Bowman and wife, Jean, of Wooddale, Braden Bowman and wife, Faye, of Dunbar, Herbert Bowman and wife, Dixie, of Latrobe and Melvin Bowman and wife, Joanne, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters , Alma Geraldine Collins and Ethel Bowman; and three nephews, Ronald Collins, Robert Collins and Donald Betker. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. MARY LOUISE CAMMARATA
Mary Louise Cammarata, 80, of Youngtown, Ariz., formerly of Greensburg, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Youngtown, Ariz. She was born May 7, 1919, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late James and Anna Baracco Zinna. She was a former member of Our Lady of Grace Church and the Women's Auxiliary of the Moose. She is survived by her husband, Frank Cammarata Jr.; three sons , Frank Cammarata III and wife, Karen, of Arkansas, James Cammarata and wife, Deanna, of Arizona, and Joseph Cammarata of Redwood, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Mario Zinna and wife, Olga, of Jeannette; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters . Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. DENNIS M. COFFMAN
Dennis M. Coffman, 39, of Indian Head Road, Indian Head, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in the IHS of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Friends and family will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will take place Monday in the Indian Head Church of God from noon until 1 p.m., the hour of funeral services in the church with the Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. Interment will follow in the Keslar Cemetery. ANTHONY B. DeMARINO
Anthony B. DeMarino, co-founder of T&L Restaurant of Hempfield Township, died at age 79, at his home in Hempfield Township, Thursday, March 9, 2000. He was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Greensburg, a son of the late Vincent and Agata Picolli DeMarino. He was a loving Father , grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Church of St. Paul and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary P. "Lena" Garofola DeMarino; his sister, Rose DeMeter; and two brothers , Larry and James DeMarino. He is survived by his children, sons , Jerome A. DeMarino and wife, Judy, and Ronald V. DeMarino and wife, Gwen, all of Greensburg; a daughter, Janet R. Spoerer and husband, Thomas, of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters , Angeline Orange of Jeannette and Agnes Fabi of Michigan; a brother, Sandy DeMarino, of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. WILLIAM A. GUNTHER JR.
William A. Gunther Jr., 80, of Jeannette, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at home. He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Jeannette, a son of the late William A. Sr. and Minnie Burkhart Gunther. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former ASG Industries of Jeannette. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah E. "Betty" Gunther; three sisters , Eleanor Morich, Lillian Snyder and Dorothy Faroux; and two brothers , Clarence and Ralph Gunther. He is survived by two sons , William A. Gunther III and his wife, Linda, and Ronald L. Gunther and his wife, Debbie, all of Jeannette; a daughter, Donna Consiglio of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. GEORGE HAYDEN JR.
George Hayden Jr., 43, of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Tarrs, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at the Indiana Hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant. George was a graduate of Southmoreland High School with the Class of 1975. He was also a graduate of the Commercial Truckers School of Dallas, Texas , and was a veteran, having served with the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church of Greensburg. He is survived by his mother , Betty Miller Hayden, of East Windsor, Conn., formerly of Tarrs; and a sister, Donna Gilbert and her husband, William, of Stamford, Conn. He was predeceased by his Father , George Hayden Sr., in 1997. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at which time his funeral service will be held with the Very Rev. Father John Nosal officiating. Interment will be private.

KENNETH J. HAYS
Kenneth J. Hays, 85, of Greensburg, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Greensburg, a son of the late Harry W. and Stella Michalsky Hays. He was Protestant by faith. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers , Eugene F., Lawrence G., Charles S., Harry A. and Jack Hays. He is survived by two sisters , Eva L. Hays of Greensburg and Mary Lou Leasure and her husband, James, of Scottdale. Friends were received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert C. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery.

DAVID ALEX MILLER
David Alex Miller, 86, of Greensburg RD6, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born July 13, 1913, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late John H. and Celia F. Moore Miller. Prior to retirement, he had been affiliated with his family-owned and -operated Miller Dairy Farm, and also had served as a Hempfield Township supervisor. He was a member of the Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg RD6, the Loyal Order of the Moose #1151 of Greensburg, the Harrold Grange, and was a former director of the Westmoreland Fair, 4-H leader, and director of the Hempfield Township School Authority. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Maxwell Miller, on July 8, 1994; three infant grandchildren; two brothers , his twin brother, George Miller, and Glenn Miller; and a sister, Mary Cavalier. He is survived by two sons , John H. Miller and David A. Jr. and his wife, Barbara Miller, all of Greensburg; a daughter, Celia and her husband, William Vance, of Lowellville, Ohio; six grandchildren, John Alex and his wife, Chrissy Miller, Adam J. Miller, Jennifer Ann Miller, David Glenn and his wife, Heather Miller, Melinda Stewart and T.J. Stewart; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

PAUL L. MITCHELL
Paul L. Mitchell, 93, of Youngstown, Pa., died Friday, March 10, 2000, at his residence. He was born Sept. 11, 1906, in Latrobe, a son of the late George O. and Catherine Bosslet Mitchell. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown. Prior to retirement, he was a carpenter for many years at St. Vincent. Paul is survived by his wife, Pauline Yanits Mitchell; a son, Melvin Mitchell; a daughter, Elaine Mitchell Kidd; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Burkhart; and a brother, Raymond Mitchell. There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant. Private interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Youngstown. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. The SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Route 982 South, Latrobe, is in charge of arrangements. Gordon O. Snyder, funeral director.
