Aileen A. Murray
Aileen A. Murray, 87, died on May 19, 2009 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, N.J. Aileen was born in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Gordon and Helen (nee Garahan) Zinner. She is pre-deceased by her late husband Joseph M. Murray who died in 1983 and her beloved son Gerald (Jerry) C. Murray in 1977. Aileen was a homemaker who went to work after her children were in school, she worked at Lit Brothers Department store in Philadelphia. Having grown up in Philadelphia, Mrs. Murray and her family had a summer home in Mystic Island New Jersey. Aileen enjoyed going to bingo and her senior group in Mystic Island.
She is survived by her daughter, Aileen Murray of Mystic Island, N.J., her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maryann Murray of Bear, De. and her grandchildren, Gerald C. (Jerry) Murray of Bear, De. and Katherine E. (Katie) Murray of South Philadelphia, Pa.; her nephews, Brian Lafferty of North Wildwood, N.J., Steve Murray of New Jersey and Robert Garahan of New Jersey, also her dear friends, Lucy and Roe of Mystic Island and her one time caregiver, Tamara Daniels of Bear, De.
Visitation: Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa.
Prayer Service: 11 A.M. Friday at the Funeral Home.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pa.

Ethel Jane Hoffman
Ethel Jane Hoffman, 88, of Exton and a former longtime resident of Prospect Park, died on May 19th at Park Lane at Bellingham in West Chester.
Born on January 21, 1921 in Crozer Hospital in Upland, she was the daughter of the late Harold T. Sooy and the late Laura H. Sooy.
Mrs. Hoffman was raised in Prospect Park and was a resident there for most of her life until moving to Exton three years ago. She was a graduate of the former Prospect Park High School.
Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church in Prospect Park for many years. Her late parents were active members of the church.
She loved to work in her garden and was known for her beautiful flowers. She was also an avid reader.
Mrs. Hoffman is the wife of the late Howard E. Hoffman, who died in 1993. She was married to him on January 3, 1947. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy E. Sandilands of Marcus Hook.
She is survived by her sisters, Jean E. Hoover of Exton and Elizabeth R. Marshall of Mt. Ephriam, N.J.
Her funeral service and burial will be private.

Florence W. Ticknor
Florence W. Ticknor, 85, a longtime resident of Prospect Park, died on May 7th at the Haverford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Haverford Township.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Yeadon, she was a graduate of Yeadon High School. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Worrall.
Mrs. Ticknor was a resident of Prospect Park since 1955, having lived in Norwood and Yeadon before that.
She was an administrator at the Boeing-Vertol Division Plant in Morton for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Ticknor was a longtime member of the Maranatha Tabernacle in Darby.
She enjoyed taking trips to Lancaster County and to the Ocean City, N.J. shore with her family; and especially enjoyed trips to the Western United States.
She was known for her wonderful quilting work, and will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Edward C. Ticknor of Prospect Park and Robert J. Ticknor of Ridley Park; her daughters, Sherry L. Graff of Folcroft and Melody Ticknor of Wayne; her sister, Ruth Hoffman of Blue Bell, Pa.; her eight grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11th at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Monday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.

Irene Treagear
Irene Treagear, 84, a longtime resident of the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby, died on May 3rd at Vitas Hospice at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.
Born in Barnsboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Susie Kozak. Mrs. Treagear grew up in Hazelton and came to Upper Darby in the late 1950’s, and then moved to Drexel Hill in 1960.
She worked in the Student Loan Department at First Pennsylvania Bank in Philadelphia for 20 years until her retirement. When she first went to work she was an operator for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and then was a clerical worker for Chelten Publishing in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Treagear was devoted to her family, but most of all, enjoyed caring for and spending time with her beloved grandson, Christopher Halpin.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Treagear; her daughters, Jacquelyn Robinson of Drexel Hill and and Jeannette Rabe of Thornton; and her grandson.
Her funeral service and burial will be private.

Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Jones
Elizabeth A. “Betty” Jones, 78, a resident of West Chester and a former longtime resident of Prospect Park, died on May 3rd at The Brandywine Hall in West Chester.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Farley. She was a 1951 graduate of John Bartram High School in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Jones was a resident of West Chester for the last three years, having lived in Prospect Park since 1955 before that.
Mrs. Jones worked in retail sales and then as the hostess of the restaurant at the Strawbridge & Clothier store in Springfield for 15 years until her retirement. She worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for a few years earlier in her life.
While in her teens, she was a competitive roller skater. She was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Prospect Park and was a member of Verner Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Jones enjoyed all kinds of music, loved animals especially her dogs and cats, and especially enjoyed the Christmas season, her favorite time of the year. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Jones is the wife of the late Robert Jones, who died in 1998. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Rule and Peggy Smith, and her brother, Jack Farley.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Jones and his wife, Sunya, of Manchester, Vermont and Dean Jones of Delaware County; and her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7th, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. Her visitation will be on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in King of Prussia.

Sophie Morrison
Sophie Morrison, 86, a longtime resident of the Essington section of Tinicum Township, died on April 27th at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Dimitri and Pauline Stocklos. She was a resident of the Essington section of Tinicum Township since 1966.
Mrs. Morrison was a faithful member for many years of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church in Essington.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Morrison is the wife of the late Francis J. Morrison, who died in 1995.
She is survived by her son, Frank Morrison of Essington; her daughter, Linda Merli of New York City, N.Y.; her sisters, Helen Stocklos of Philadelphia and Olga Moore of Springfield.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1st, at 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Marple Township.

Melina Kostomite
Melina Kostomite, 46, a resident of Folcroft and former resident of Havertown, died on April 26th at her residence.
Born in Levittown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Kostomite. Miss Kostomite was a resident of Folcroft for the last five years, having lived in the Havertown section of Haverford Township for most of her life prior to that. She was a 1988 graduate of Haverford High School.
Miss Kostomite enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved playing with her kittens, and cherished her 1968 cadillac. She was a dedicated and devoted friend to all her knew her, and would do anything to help anyone in need.
Miss Kostomite was the sister of the late George Kostomite.
She is survived by her sisters, Maryann Craig of Folcroft and Christina Miller of Havertown; her brother, Nick Kostomite of Drexel Hill; her four nephews, two nieces, and one grand-nephew.
Her funeral service and burial will be private.

Agnes Small
Agnes Small, 92, a resident of Wilmington, N.C. and a former resident of the Essington section of Tinicum Township, died on April 13th at Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, N.C.
Mrs. Small was born on May 23, 1916 in Chester, Pa. She was a formerly of Essington, Tinicum Township before moving to Wilmington, N.C. in 1968.
Mrs. Small at one time attended St. John’s Tinicum Lutheran Church in Essington before moving to North Carolina.
Her husband, Albert W. Small, and her son, Gary Small, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Small and his wife, Eunice, of Wilmington, N.C., and Albert Small of Bay St. Louis, MS; her daughter-in-law, Maria Small of Wilmington, N.C.; her step-son, Frank Small of Delaware; her half-brother, Bob Garrison of Asheboro, N.C.; and her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her graveside service will be on Saturday, April 18th, at 11 A.M. at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Upper Darby Township, with her burial to follow.

Isabelle S. Taylor
Isabelle S. Taylor, 99, a former longtime resident of Ridley Park and Folcroft, died on April 11th at the Broomall Presbyterian Village in Marple Township where she currently resided.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Bella Shull. Mrs. Taylor was a resident of the Broomall Presbyterian Village for the last two years, and the Rosemont Presbyterian Village two before that. She was a resident of Ridley Park from 1967 to 2003, and lived in Folcroft for well over 50 years before that.
Mrs. Taylor was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood. She was also an active member at one time of the Prospect Park Women’s Club and the Folcroft Women’s Club. Mrs. Taylor was a long time member of the Junior Board of Taylor Hospital.
She was known for her beautiful knitting work as well as her ability to crochet.
Mrs. Taylor will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is the wife of the late Raymond W. Taylor, who died in 1982. She was also predeceased by her brother, C. Stewart Shull.
She is survived by her son, William R. Taylor of Media; her two grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her two nieces and her nephew.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13th at 7:30 P.M. at The Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Monday from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.

John E. 'Duke' Duncan
John E. “Duke” Duncan, 77, a lifelong resident of Tinicum Township, died on April 10th at his home.
Born in Tinicum Township, he resided in the township all of his life. He was the son of the late William and Ida Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed in the highway maintenance department of Tinicum Township for 30 years until his retirement.
He will be remembered as a collector of many unusual items and things that were very valuable to him. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his nieces who cared for him, Dawn Rumford and Debra Grindle both of Lester, Tinicum Township, and Sheri McIntyre of Cochransville; his sister, Clara Simmons of Essington, Tinicum Township; and many other nieces and nephews.
His funeral service and burial in Lawn Croft Cemetery in Lower Chichester Township will be private.

Ruth A. LaBree
Ruth A. LaBree, 79, a resident of Audubon, Lower Providence, and a former longtime resident of Ridley Park, died on April 2nd at Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Anna Shank.
Mrs. LaBree was a 1947 graduate of Ridley Township High School and was the class valedictorian.
She was a resident of Audubon was the last two years, having lived in Ridley Park for 34 years. Mrs. LaBree also maintained a home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where she enjoyed many summers with her family.
Mrs. LaBree was employed as an executive secretary at Boeing Vertol for many years until her retirement.
She loved to work in her beautiful garden and enjoyed fishing at Rehoboth Beach and at Ridley Creek
Mrs. LaBree will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is the wife of the late Joseph LaBree, who died in 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Miller of Yardley, Pa. and Diane Christy-Groff of Pilesgrove, N.J.; her brothers, Paul Shank of West Chester, Charles Shank of Florida, and Earl Shank of California; and her six grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be Monday, April 6th at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Monday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marple Township.
Joseph J. 'Joe' Kemble, Sr.
Joseph J. “Joe” Kemble, age 84 passed away on March 30th, 2009 at his residence in Middletown, De. Joe was born on September 13, 1924.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Olga (Kerby) Kemble, a son Joseph J. Kemble Jr. and his wife Maureen of Newark, De., a daughter Roberta Schroeder and her husband Bob of Middletown, De. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Kevin, Kellie, Kyle of Newark, De. and Michael, Brian and Bobby of Middletown, De.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, De. 19702 on Thursday, April 2nd at 10 A.M., with a visitation at the church from 9:30 A.M. His Interment will be held at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, De. 19701.
