John A. "Chubbo" Persin, 86, of White Valley, died Friday, July 14, 2000. He was born Jan. 21, 1914, in White Valley, a son of the late Anton and Barbara Mlinerich Persin. Chubbo was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric, Trafford, and was a member of the White Valley AMVETS, a charter member of the White Valley Athletic and Social Club, and a life member of the Export L.O.O.M. #234. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Tony, Mitchell "Chippy" and Matthew Persin; and a sister, Helen Daniels. Surviving are his wife, Mary Kohalisky Persin; two sons , Richard and wife, Rose Ann, of Aiken, S.C., and Kenneth and wife, Tammy, of New Brockton, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Cornali of Coshocton, Ohio; two brothers , Edward of Plum Borough and Frank of Irwin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from noon to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Father Dismas Young officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export.
Robert E. Scales

Robert E. Scales, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at the age of 62. He was born in Trafford, Nov. 25, 1937, the son of the late A.C. and Gladys (Niel) Scales. Thirty-one years ago, he met and married Mary Brook Packer in Hagerstown, Md. He is survived by his wife, Mary Brook Scales, and his children, Kathryn and Robert A. Scales of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a brother, John N. (Joan) Scales of Greensburg; three nieces, Laura E. Wallace of Greensburg, Lisa E. Scales of Pittsburgh and Gretchen (Michael) Rizzo of Franklin, Mass.; and Father -in-law, Dr. Lawrence L. (Jean) Packer Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Alesca; his mother -in-law, Jean T. Packer; a brother-in-law, Lawrence L. Packer III; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Packer. His lifelong love of books was exceeded only by his lifelong love of his family. Mr. Scales was employed as a district sales manager for Random House Publishing for more than 25 years. He also attended Bucknell University and Yale University. A private family interment will be held in Hagerstown, Md. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago, Ill., or the charity of your choice.
Harry M. Schadel, Jr.

Harry M. Schadel, Jr., 82, of Bethel Park, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at home surrounded by family. Born April 11, 1918 in Bridgeville, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry M. and Alma Kohler Schadel. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lila O. Schadel; three children, Aleta Voss, Harry III "Buzz" and Suzanne Fenton; two sisters , Dorothy Sell of Greensburg and Gloria Southam of Brecksville, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren. Harry graduated from Langley HS in 1935 and earned a BS in Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1939. He worked in Carnegie's Metals Research Lab until called to active military duty in 1941, where he was commanding officer of an ordinance supply and maintenance company in India. Following five years of active service and exactly 30 years after his original commission, he retired from the Air Force as a colonel. He received a master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Carnegie Tech. in 1950 and worked at Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory as a quality manager until retirement. A man of deep convictions, a loving Father and dedicated Church member, Harry served as Deacon, Trustee and Elder at the Brentwood Presbyterian Church and was active in the South Hills Interfaith Ministries. Friends will be received at a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16 in Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park. Margaret B. (Beers) Scott

Margaret B. (Beers) Scott, 74, of Barrington, N.J., formerly of Lindenwold, N.J., passed away Friday, July 14, 2000, in West Jersey Hospital, Voorhees, N.J. Mrs. Scott was born and raised in Greensburg. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1943, and graduated from the Westmoreland School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1946. Mrs. Scott worked in Westmoreland Hospital as a nursing supervisor in the emergency room. In 1980, she opened the Haddon Heights Bake Shop on the Black Horse Pike in Haddon Heights, N.J., and sold the shop in 1988. She was an active member of the Greater Black Horse Pike Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Scott was a councilwoman in Lindenwold from 1998 to 1999, and as such served as liaison to the local Health and Welfare Department. While in office, her special project was the D.A.R.E. Program, which served to help the children of Lindenwold. Mrs. Scott was also a deacon at St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Laurel Springs. Mrs. Scott is survived by her loving children, Carol Stowman of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Richard K. Johnson Jr. of Elizabeth; two brothers , Thomas Beers of State College and Walter Beers of Tallahassee, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Margaret Presutti Souse, 103, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in UPMC Rehabilitation Hospital, Squirrel Hill. Born Nov. 22, 1896 in Salmina, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Amelia DeGeorgia Presutti. Mrs. Souse was a member of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church, Aspinwall. Survivors include three daughters , Mildred Cooper of San Diego, Calif; Amelia Brooke of West Deer and Grace Souse of O'Hara; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Souse. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. Charles L. Trupe Jr., 78, of Canadohta Lake, Crawford County, formerly of Bradford Woods, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Meadville Medical Center, Meadville. Born Sept. 7, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary E. Newswanger Trupe. Mr. Trupe was an Army veteran of World War II. He was vice president of sales at Aetna Standard Engineering Co. in Ellwood City. He was a Christian Scientist. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Trupe of Bridgewater, Va.; two sons Charles H. Trupe III of Statesboro, Ga., and James K. Trupe of Towson, Md.; three sisters , Lillian Michalec of Vienna, Ohio, Betty Heffner of Kirtland, Ohio, and Jane Alderman of Capitol Heights, Md.; a brother, Paul H. Trupe of Fowler, Ohio; and five granchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Trader Trupe. Joseph M. Tylka, 90, of Wilton, Conn., died Friday, July 14, 2000, at his home. Born March 2, 1910, in Mt. Pleasant, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Ludmila Zilinsky Tylka. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by U.S. Steel, Maple Creek Mines, as a coal miner. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army with the 816th Engineering Aviation Battalion, and was a member of VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant. He was also a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church of Wilton. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 52 years, Veronica Lisik Tylka; two sons , Michael Tylka and his wife, Linda, of Pittsburgh, and Joseph Tylka and his wife, Julianne, of Wilton, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Amanda, both of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are two sisters , Mary Stafire and Helen Chernek, both of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers , Stanley Tylka and wife, Blanche, of Mt. Pleasant, John Tylka and wife, Evelyn, of Chicago, Ill., and Walter Tylka and wife, Martha, of Lorain, Ohio; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters , Sophie Borek and Catherine Kramarski; and two brothers , Frank and Michael Tylka. Lawrence B. Woshner Jr., 68, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in his home. Born in Brentwood, Dec. 29, 1931, he was a son of the late Lawrence B. Sr. and Anne (Hersick) Woshner. Mr. Woshner was a retired carpenter and contractor. He attended St. Vincent College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township. He served the United States during the Korean conflict. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Szostak Woshner; two sons , Lawrence B. Woshner III of Dallas, Texas , and Justin A. Woshner at home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dr. Clare M. and Dr. James Budd of Murrysville and Dr. Victoria M. Woshner of Barrow, Alaska; a sister, Dorothy A. Corace of Florida; and three grandchildren, Michael A. Budd, Stephen Budd and Jonathan Budd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Woshner. Sonny Aitken, Harmony
Sonny Aitken, 62, of Harmony, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his residence after a long illness. Born Feb. 20, 1938, in Sewickley, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Myrtle Stuebordt Aitken. He was employed for many years as a construction worker with Laborers Local 323 in Butler, and until his retirement in November, 1999, had been employed by the Log Cabin Inn in Zelienople for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Judith G. Aitken (whom he married Oct. 15, 1966); a son, Chad Aitken of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Gena Aitken of Pittsburgh; a brother, Larry Witt of Johnstown, Ohio; and two sisters , Lillian Ayers of Blanco, Texas and Judi Holtz of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers . Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Anthony Angelo, 84, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Jefferson Hospital. Born March 8, 1916, in Newell, a son of the late Giacondo and Phillamenia Coletti Angelo. Husband of the late Ruth "Betty" (Dirling) Angelo. He is survived by three sons , Richard of Manassas, Va., John of Normalville and Kenneth of Buena Vista; a daughter, Thelma Yuhasse of Calabash, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Miles Angelo and Otto Angelo; and three sisters , Elizabeth Cordi, Mary Pagliari and Gilda Verdi. He was a retired self-employed fish farmer, former owner of Angelo's Fish Farm, Normalville. He was a member of the Workmen's Mutual Beneficial Union Hall of Blythedale, a charter member of the Industry Volunteer Fire Co., a member of the Order of Owls #1649, Buena Vista, and a social member of the Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Co., and the Vets Club, Boston.
