Also a member of Optimist International. He Served as Past Chairman of the Republican Party of Rutledge and also on the Sewer Authority of Rutledge.

VETERAN: US Army serving during the Korean conflict. He was the recipient of the Occupation Medal from Japan, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars.
EMPLOYMENT; Delaware County Courthouse as a Court Officer, where he had been a part time employee for about 15 years.
PRIOR EMPLOYMENT: Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company as Manager of Security followed by employment with Penn Ship before his retirement in 1989. Joe along with other Security Managers along the waterfront of the Chester area started an organization called the "River Rats" that met a few times a year.
ORGANIZATIONS: Joe was a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, Police Chiefs Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania and also the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association. Joe was also a member of the American Legion, Post #926 in Aston and the VFW in Claymont, Delaware.
An avid sports fan he especially enjoyed Penn State Football and the World Series Phillies.
Predeceased by his first wife, Elaine Osifat who died in 1984.
Predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth (nee Wanyo) Osifat.
SURVIVORS: Survived by his wife of 20 years, Marjorie (nee Andersen) Osifat; Three Sons: Joseph (Thelma) Osifat of McAdoo, PA, Brian (Denise) Osifat of Aston, PA and Jonathan (Cathy) Osifat of Upper Chichester, PA; Two Daughters: Elizabeth (Ian) Edgington of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Susan (Hank) Worthington of Brigantine, NJ; One Stepdaughter: Suzanne DiCarlo of Chester, PA; One Stepson: Brian Buza of Byron, IL; Also survived by Ten grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
