Muller, Marguerite Claire
Muller, Marguerite Claire (Neuguth)
Marguerite Claire Müller passed away peacefully in her home, lovingly surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 7th, 2007. Claire, as her friends and loved ones called her, was 74 years old and a 40 year resident of Upper Providence.
Claire was born Marguerite Claire Neuguth to parents William Frederick Neuguth and Maybelle Field Gibson of Elizabeth, New Jersey on August 9th, 1933. She attended Mount Saint Mary's Academy in North Plainfield, NJ, where she was a star basketball player because of her towering height. After high school, her interests took her to Philadelphia Children's Hospital and Philadelphia General Hospital where she became a registered nurse and subsequently met her husband, Dr. Otto F. Müller.
Claire treasured being a nurse, but her greatest satisfaction came through the joys of providing for her four children and getting her hands dirty in the garden with her husband. Claire was a prize-winning horticulturalist, consistently taking ribbons and awards in the Philadelphia Flower Shows from 1977 through 1988 including the Doretta Klaber Memorial Award, the Far Out Cactus Award and Best in Show. She was a multi-faceted individual with an incredible depth of talent, a myriad of interesting hobbies, and like an artist, she created beauty all around her with flair that "no one could hold a candle to!"
Her life was filled with immeasurable riches. In addition to the devoted love of her surviving husband and the health and happiness of her children, her experiences in life were blessed with crossing many lands and encountering a multitude of cultures. She talked fondly for years of her experience with the children of the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission, and she became a sponsor and host of 7 children and their teacher in 2003. She made friends with ease, treasured their experiences together, was genuine, and kept loving connections all around the globe. She loved deeply and lived with an amazing passion for life and learning. She will be greatly missed.
Claire is survived by her husband of fifty years, Dr. Otto Friedrich Müller; two daughters, Heidemarie Starr (Kirk Starr) and Monica L. Robbins (Chris Robbins); two sons, Otto M. Müller (Kelly L. Gest) and Roland W. Müller; and ten healthy grandchildren.
A celebration of Claire's life and memorial service is planned for May 3, 2008 in Claire's garden and home, a reminder of which to be printed in the Inquirer and Town Talk the week prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to:
