Hartman, Louise S.
LOUISE S. HARTMAN (nee SHOWMAN), 81, of Little Egg Harbor, formerly of Cape May Court House, died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, as a result of complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Born in Youngwood PA, she was the daughter of Mena and Ira Showman. She also resided in Baltimore, MD, Fort Wayne, IN., Rochester, NY, Greensburg, PA and Boothbay Harbor, Maine before settling in Little Egg Harbor in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles S. Hartman, a minister in the United Church of Christ. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Seacrest Village Nursing Home in Little Egg Harbor.
During her life, Mrs. Hartman was an active volunteer in many community and church related organizations including "Meals on Wheels" that she instituted in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. In addition, she was employed by Mystic Shores Adult Community, Little Egg Harbor, where she and her husband resided from 1983 until 1999. She was also an avid aviator and flew in many different propellor, jet powered, antique and modern aircraft as well as helicopters, simulators, sailplanes and hot air balloons and she is most certainly enjoying her permanent wings now! She was a warm and loving wife, mother and grandmother and her quick wit, warm personality and skillfull card playing made her a friend to many who will sorely miss her.
She is survived by a brother, Donald I. Showman of Youngwood, PA, three sons, Edwin M. Hartman, II of Somerset, Ira S. Hartman of Cumberland Center, Maine and Stewart J. Hartman of Swainton, a daughter Charlie L. Hartman of China, Maine, and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held in Tuckerton and Greensburg, PA on dates to be announced later.

BORN IN: Avoca, PA had been a resident of Brookhaven, PA for 58 years.

VETERAN: US Marines serving during World War II with the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre
EMPLOYMENT: BP Refinery for 36 years until his retirement in 1987.
Organizations: CHURCH: A long time member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Wallingford, PA where he was very active. He served as an Elder and sang in the Choir.
Paul was a Christian man who lived a life of faith and was devoted to his Lord and his family. He always wanted to show the love of Christ to those he came in contact with and was known for his hugs.
Brother of the late Roberta Fine and John Hastie.

Bink Haviland, Attorney, 83
Bancroft (Bink) Dawley Haviland, age 83 years, of Media, PA died on Monday April 13, 2009 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Lima, PA. Born in Yonkers, NY, Bink had been a resident of Kendal at Longwood in Kennett Square, PA for the past 6 years.
Bink graduated from Westtown Friends School in 1943 and went on to receive his BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. After a period of service in the United States Navy, Bink completed his undergraduate degree at Penn in 1947 and then went on to earn his Law degree from Penn in 1949. Following a year of teaching Law as a Gowen Fellow at Penn, Bink briefly served as an associate with Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine in New York and then returned to Philadelphia in 1951 where he practiced law for the firm of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis, becoming a partner in 1960. Throughout those years, Bink practiced general litigation with an emphasis on the fields of antitrust, copyright, restrictive covenants, personal injury, immigration and domestic relations. Following his retirement from Schnader in 1991, he served as an approved Mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Over the years, Bink's outside activities and interests included serving as a Township Commissioner and Justice of the Peace, serving as general counsel to and Clerk of the Boards of Westtown School and Media-Providence Friends School, chairing the Rose Tree Soccer Club, being an active member of the Aston Lions Club, and most recently serving as a volunteer attorney advocating for elderly victims through the city of Philadelphia's Elder Justice Project. Bink was a member of the Religious Society of Friends. He loved spending time outside in his garden, doing woodworking projects for his grandchildren, and vacationing with his family at their summer home in Sharbot Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Bink is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Haviland; Two Sons: Bill Haviland, of Parkside, PA and Tom Haviland of Glen Mills, PA; Two Daughters: Lucy Lane of Media, PA, and Amy Karwoski of Swarthmore, PA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Kendal at Longwood, 1109 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
