Deibert, George A.
George A. Deibert, 90 of Lima Estates, formerly of Ridley Park, died of a stroke August 17 at Spring House Estates.
Raised in Orwigsburg, PA, he graduated from Orwigsburg High School in 1932. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1936 from the University of Alabama. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and thereafter the Insurance Company of North America in Philadelphia.
Mr. Deibert was an officer in the US Army Quartermaster Corps during World War II. He was stationed at numerous locations on the west coast and in 1942 married a native Californian, Julia Briscejn.
After World War II, he and his family returned to the Philadelphia area, settling in Ridley Park. He worked for the Insurance Company of North America in the Purchasing Department and retired in 1976. He was active professionally and was the President of the Purchasing Management Association of Philadelphia in 1973.
Mr. Deibert remained in the Army Reserve and retired as a Colonel in 1974.
Mr. Deibert was a member of Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church of Media and served as both a trustee and elder. His relationship to Jesus Christ was very important to him.
He was a member of the Fort Dix Retiree Counsel and also served as Treasurer of the Ridley Township Library Board for many years.
Mr. Deibert had a wide range of interests and activities including: golfing, vegetable gardening, collecting coins and stamps, sports and traveling. He traveled to the west coast numerous times and especially enjoyed our nation's National Parks.
His wife, Julia Deibert, predeceased him.
Survivors: sons, Donald G. Deibert of Midland, MI; J. William Deibert of Edgewater, MD.; daughters. Joyce M. Deibert of Roslyn, PA, and Nancy L. Deibert of Vienna, Austria; three grandchildren; brothers; Newt Deibert of New Kingston, PA and Richard Deibert of Moraga, CA.
Service: Wednesday, August 24th at 11 am at the auditorium at Lima Estates at 411 N. Middletown Rd, Lima.
Burial: Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
