Douglas Ward Page, 43, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2000, in UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, after a valiant 13-month battle. He was born July 24, 1956, in Pittsburgh, a son of Elinor Jean Smith Page and the late Merle K. DeVos. He was raised by his stepfather, the late John R. Page. Surviving are his wife, Stephanie Polink Page; two sons , Chad Page and his wife, Joanna, of Corsica, Pa., and Shawn Page of Clarion; two grandchildren, Skybree and Chad; a sister, Dawn Baldinger and her husband, Jeff, of White hall; two brothers , Dan Page and his wife, Cathy, of West Newton and Darrill Page and his wife, Erin, of Norristown; and two nieces, Rachel and Amber Baldinger. Doug was an estimator for State Farm Insurance in the Bethel Park area and also worked for Becker and Company of Carnegie. A 1974 graduate of Norwin High School, Doug also received an associate degree from Vale Tech in Blairsville. He was on the board of directors of the National Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania , and was a gifted speaker; he also volunteered and spoke for the CORE and TRIO organizations. Doug was a member of Ardara United Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at the church at 3380 Nehrig Hill Road, Route 993 (halfway between Irwin and Trafford) Sunday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Carlisle V. Lloyd officiating. Interment will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Douglas Page Primary Nurse Care Program, Beckwith Institute, c/o Shadyside Hospital Foundation, 532 S. Albert Vincent Petrick, 81, of Irwin, on Saturday, July 8, 2000. Husband of the late Ruth Ann Cherpak. Father of Susan Owens of North Canton, Ohio, and Carol Koncerak of Atlanta, Ga. Grandfather of Emily, Lauren and Grace Koncerak, and Stephanie Owens. Brother of Robert Petrick of Penn Hills and Elinor Bartko of White Oak. Friends will be received at STRIFFLERS' OF WHITE OAK, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church, McKeesport, at 10 a.m. Burial Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.
Edward Primozic

Edward Primozic, 88, of White Valley, died Saturday, July 8, 2000. He was born Nov. 5, 1911, in Universal, Pa., a son of the late Matthew and Mary Tresa Gabrovsek Primozic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Korche Primozic; and three brothers , Philip, William and Frank Primozic. Ed was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army's, 99th Infantry Division. He was a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge #232 and was a charter member of the White Valley AMVETS, the White Valley Volunteer Fire Department and the White Valley Athletic and Social Club. Surviving are three sons , Philip of Greensburg, Edward J. of Export and John and his wife, Patricia, of White Valley; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Angela) Skindell of El Paso, Texas ; a brother, Stanley of Greensburg; and two sisters , Mrs. Mary Kistler of Harrison City and Mildred Primozic of White Valley. Also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Dismas Young officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export.

Arthur Donovan "Don" Shirey, 73, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 7, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born June 22, 1927, in Whitney, a son of the late Jacob and Mildred King Shirey. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Borden Co. of Latrobe. Don was a member of the Latrobe United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post #982 of Unity Township and the B.P.O.E. #907 of Latrobe. He is survived by his wife, Helen Milne Shirey; a son, Gary Palmer and his wife, Diane, of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Wilbur Shirey and wife, Betty, of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Anthony, Nicole, Celeste and Kaitlin Palmer, all of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, beginning Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Yarger officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.

John Stanchak, 88, of Wickhaven, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at 3 p.m., in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Aug. 27, 1911, at Wickhaven, a son of the late Andrew and Sofia Korbelek Stanchak. John was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Holy Name Society, charter member of St. John's Golden Agers, and member of Sokol Club and Perryopolis Heritage Society, all of Perryopolis. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post #752 of Perryopolis. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Amelia Krasovic Stanchak; a son, John A. Stanchak and wife, Constance, of Malvern; a daughter, Mrs. James (Patricia) Duff of Cortland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer A. Stanchak, Christopher A. Stanchak and James Patrick Duff; and four sisters , Mrs. Louis (Ann) Farina and Mrs. Helen Tedesco, both of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Rose Aspinwall of Star Junction and Mrs. Harry (Eva) Stuckslager of Wickhaven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters , Augustine Novotni, Antonia White house, Mary Strother and Julie Morris. Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 E. Independence St., Perryopolis, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with the Rev. Father John T. Euker as celebrant. Interment West Newton Cemetery. A wake service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. Graveside military rites accorded by VFW Goldstar Post #7023 and American Legion Post #752, Perryopolis.

Vincent J. Taravella, of Windgap, died Saturday, July 8, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Herrly) Taravella; one stepson, Charles F. Kleber of York; one step grandchild, Nicole Marie; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1225 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tueday in the St. John of God Parish, St. Mary's Church. Interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Charles A. Ansell

Charles A. Ansell, 88, of Uniontown, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1912, in Connellsville, a son of the late George and Minnie Works Ansell. A brother, Raymond Ansell, and two sisters , Mabel Koehler and Hazel Ansell, also preceded him in death. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Rapson Ansell; two sons , Kenneth Ansell and C. Ray Ansell, both of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Lisa, Christopher, Raymond and Barbara Ansell; a brother, James Ansell of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and two sisters , Edna Ansell of Uniontown and Helen Craig of Baltimore, Md. Mr. Ansell attended the Uniontown Free Methodist Church, was a member of Fayette Lodge #228 F&AM, Circle Club, and played dartball for the Central Christian Church. He served with the U.S. Army and was retired from the gas and oil business after 30 years. Friends will be received in the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. James B. Jobes and the Rev. Roger Yeager co-officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. The Circle Club will hold services Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and Fayette Lodge #228 will conduct services Sunday at 7:30 p.m., both in the funeral home.
Charles W. Catley

Charles W. Catley, 85, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 in Tandem Health Care Center, Indiana Township.
Born July 23, 1914 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Emma Burton Catley.
Mr. Catley was a retired analyst with Taylor Engineering, and also had worked for United Engineering Foundry. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Sharpsburg, where he also taught Sunday School. He also was an active volunteer with St. Margaret Memorial Hospital where he earned the President's Award for seven years of dedication to the hospital, staff, and patients. He volunteered for the YMCA, Salvation Army, and Luthern Summer Camps. His hobbies included arts and crafts.
He is survived by two daughters , Bonnie Oliveira of Indianapolis, Ind., Bethany Boyle of Fox Chapel; a brother, Harold Catley; two sisters , Clover William, Olive Speirs; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine D. Catley, and a sister, Mabel Danielson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First English Lutheran Church, 125 North Main St., Sharpsburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Shuman officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, O'Hara.

Ruth I. "Dolly" (Good) Davis, 79, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of North Huntingdon, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at her residence. Born March 25, 1921, in Irwin, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Ruth E. (Wampler) Good. She had been employed as a cafeteria worker at the Norwin School District. She was a member of the Sarasota Alliance Church and a former member of the Norwin Alliance Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin L. Davis, in 1994; and a brother, Donald Good, in 1987. She is survived by a son and his wife, Dennis L. and Debbie Davis of North Huntingdon; a daughter and her husband, Dawna L. and the Rev. Ronald Hiers of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Paul Good of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters , Effie Neidigh, Nellie Mae Auckerman and Naomi Raling, all of Spokane, Wash.; and three grandsons, Waylon Davis, and Seth and Josh Hiers.
