Francis A. DeMaria, 77, of Clarksburg, Pa., died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at his residence. He was born June 14, 1923, in Saltsburg, a son of the loving and caring Joseph C. and Josephine DeMaria. Mr. DeMaria was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg. He was past master and past secretary of the Williamson Lodge #431 F&AM, Saltsburg, having been a member for nearly 50 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a first class petty officer. He served three continuous years in the Pacific Theater aboard a cruiser that participated in the signing of the Japanese Peace Treaty, and was credited with firing the last salvo off the coast of Japan that ended World War II. He was employed by the Valley Camp Coal Co. as a preparation plant operator for 18 years before retiring in 1986. Surviving are a brother, Joseph V. DeMaria, and his wife, AnnaBelle, of Kent; and the following nieces and nephews: Ronald Nocco, Louis "Skipper" Nocco, Robert Nocco, all of Indiana, Carol Black of Homer City and Loretta Piper of Indiana; close friends, Frank and Elaine Maudie of Homer City, Ernie Buttkevits of Clarksburg; and faithful canine companions, Sonny, Mark, Charlie and Judy. In addition to his wonderful parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters , Dorothy DeMaria and Mary Nocco. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the BOWSER-MINICH FUNERAL HOME, Indiana, where a Masonic service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. by the Williamson Lodge #431. Friends will also be received at the funeral home Monday from noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, with the Rev. Susan Porch Lantz and the Rev. Thomas Jones co-officiating. Private interment will be in the Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saltsburg Historical Society, c/o Rebecca Hadden Stone Museum, Saltsburg, PA 15681.

William M. Duffy III, 59, of McCandless, on Friday, July 7, 2000. Husband for 30 years of Margaret Lohr Duffy. Father of Kevin Duffy of Nashville, Tenn., Ellen Jones of Louisville, Ky., Kent Duffy of Alexandria, Va., Laura Anne Duffy of McCandless and the late Erin McCay Duffy. Brother of Tim Duffy of Los Angeles, Calif., Jane Duffy of Louisville, Ky., and Barbara Roney of Louisville, Ky. Also survived by four grandchildren. Services and interment were private. Irene O. Dull, 95, of Ligonier, died on Monday, July 3, 2000. Wife of the late Harry E. Dull Sr.; mother of Betty J. McCoy of Oakwood Hills, Ligonier, the late Harry E. Dull Jr. and the late Yvonne Costabile; grandmother of Larry McCoy of Johnstown, Bill McCoy of Oakland City, Ind., Sally McCoy of Carmel, Calif., Connie McCoy of Big Sur, Calif., Betsy Wright of Annapolis, Md., Wilford Dull of Oakland, Calif., Colleen Dull of Oakland, Calif., Kathy Kapalka of Wexford, Alvin Costabile of Greensburg, Jerlyn Keller of Boston, Mass., and John Costabile of Greensburg; sister of Gayle Nedrow of Donegal, the late Jake Ober, Roy Ober, Margaret Baker, Helen Kern, Mildred Eichler and Iva Jean Ober; also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Dull had lived a full, active life and was quite proud of her many accomplishments. Prior to her marriage and at the young age of 18, she had taught two years of elementary education to students in first through eighth grades. In 1940, Mrs. Dull had worked in the Norvelt Sewing Factory and during World War II, she was an inspector for the government. Later, she then sold Childcraft Books before becoming a salesperson for the Singer Sewing Machine Manufacturing Company, from which she had retired in 1969. Mrs. Dull was a great friend to many. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Friday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of Otterbein United Methodist Church, 111 College St. (where it meets West Otterman Street) in Greensburg. Dorothy A. Dunham, 82, of Ligonier RD2, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at her home. She was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Daniel and Hazel Reeseman Lardin. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Ligonier, the Christian Fellowship Class, the Women's Bible Study, the Ligonier Eastern Star, and the Valley Grange. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Almquist; a brother, Daniel Lardin; and a sister, Marilyn Bauman. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles Dunham, whom she married Jan. 29, 1945; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Diane) Chupka of Rockville, Md.; a son-in-law, Wallace Almquist Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Erin Wiggins, Wallace Almquist III, and Nicholas and Jocelyn Chupka. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, Ligonier, with the Rev. Herbert G. Gates III officiating. Robert H. Foster, 74, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Murrysville, died Friday, July 7, 2000. He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Vandergrift, the son of the late Robert E. and Hazel Trautmann Foster. He was the owner of R.H. Foster's Foreign Car Repair, Murrysville, for over 30 years, was a member of the South Avenue United Methodist Church, Wilkinsburg, and a past president and life member of M.A.R.C. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane L. Foster, in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Hester Smith Foster; three sons , Robert R. of Sarver, Jeffrey A. of Murrysville and Mark M. of Cranberry Township; and three grandchildren, Robert M., Brett and Sarah Foster. Visitation Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Cathy Newport officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

Homer J. Gibson, 86, of Richland Township, died peacefully Thursday, July 6, 2000, following a prolonged illness. Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Huemmrich Gibson. Dear brother of Herbert L. Gibson. Preceded in death by brothers , Thomas and Edward; and sister, Ann. Also survived by seven nieces and nephews. During World War II, he served with the 979th Heavy Artillery Battalion across Europe from the assault on Normandy to the final battle at the Elbe River crossing at Barby and Zerbst. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Herbick & Held Printing Co. Friends will be received at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Mt. Mary Alice Graham, 78, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Ligonier Gardens, Ligonier. She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Derry Township, a daughter of the late Garland and Mabel "Ruth" Barclay Friedline. Prior to retirement, she was a teacher with the Greater Latrobe School District for 35 years, and was a member of Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alton E. "Bill" Friedline; a sister, Thelma M. Fannie; and a nephew. Mary Alice is survived by a sister, Doris M. Fannie of Derry RD1; three nephews; a niece; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Donald Graff officiating. Interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.

Vincent J. Liberato died Saturday, July 8, 2000 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife, Diane; three daughters , Kathy, Janice and Kristin; three sons , Joseph, Robert, and Frank; one sister, Mary Ann Giedl; and one brother, Frank. Mr. Liberato owned two dogs; Gizmo, and Dusty. There will be no viewing. Susan V. Marcinko, 94, of Baggaley, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 19, 1905, in Hostetter, a daughter of the late John Sr. and Susan Bortnik Kuba. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, Pa. She was retired from the Pearce Woolen Mill with 36 years of service, and had also worked for R.K. Mellon as a housekeeper. She was also a member of the Greek Catholic Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers , John, Andrew and Stephen Kuba; and five sisters , Ann Bobincheck, Veronica Kuba, Elizabeth Kuba, Mary Carmen and Agnes Kuzy. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Moorhead of Schenectady, N.Y.; a niece, Mary Agnes Keba; a great-niece, Maria Keba Weiss; a great-great-nephew, Eric Weiss; and a number of other nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, Pa., with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant. Amy Sue Brownfield Moskios, 36, of Baltimore, Md., died Friday, June 23, 2000, in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash. She was born Aug. 14, 1963, in Ligonier, a daughter of Basil and Mary Brownfield of Ligonier. She had a sales and marketing career in eye care in Baltimore, was a loving and caring mother , and will be sadly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney; her mother and Father ; her sister, Laurie L. Butler and her husband, Chris, and son, Joby, of Seattle, Wash.; her brother, Christopher T. and his wife, Selina, and son, Tyler, of Seattle; her great-grandmothers, Margaret F. Brownfield of Ligonier and Margaret Glessner of Latrobe; and fiance, Dr. Robert Korman of Baltimore. A small memorial service was held for the immediate family and friends on Sunday, June 25, in Spanaway, Wash. A memorial service is being planned for family and friends in Ligonier, and the date will be announced at a later time..
