Dorothy S. McKee

Dorothy S. McKee age 97 of St John's Lutheran Care Center, Mars, Pennsylvania formerly of Rural Valley, Armstrong County and Butler, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 4:50 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Care Center.
Born in Rural Valley, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania on March 25,1906. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Gilmore Shaeffer and Sabina Geiger. Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her husband John Vincent "Red" McKee on February 24,1972.
Mrs. McKee along with her husband built, owned and managed the McKee Motel on Rt. 422 West. Following the death of her husband Mrs. McKee continued to manage the motel until 1983 when the motel was sold. She had worked at the A&P Grocery Store for twenty-seven years previous to building the McKee Motel.
Formerly a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Butler, Mrs. McKee moved to Rural Valley and became a member of the Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in 1977. She returned to Butler in 1984. Mrs. McKee was a member of the Maqueda Chapter #421 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth. In 1993 Mrs. McKee moved to New Haven Court in Zelienople, Pennsylvania and in 1998 she moved to St. John's Lutheran Care Center in Mars, Pennsylvania where she resided until her death.
Mrs. McKee has no surviving family members. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends of Dorothy S. McKee will be received at The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Monday, October 13, 2003 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Monday at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend Randy Gullickson and Reverend Patrick Maier Officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Union cemetery Near Rural Valley, Pennsylvania.
Evelyn K. McGary
March 20, 1925 - October 21, 2003
Evelyn K. McGary, age 78 of Sunnyview Nursing Home formerly of Creek Meadows Personal Care Home, Zelienople, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 5:45 P.M. in Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born in Arnold, Pennsylvania on March 20,1925, she was the daughter of the late Laurie Kemerer and Tressa Hartman.
Mrs. McGary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler. She had served as the church secretary and also had been the church secretary at North Street Christian Church. She also had served as the director of the Y-teen group at the Butler YWCA. She also served as a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by one Son: George E. (Butch) McGary III and his wife Sue of Prospect, Pennsylvania, Three Grandchildren: George E. (B.J.) McGary IV and his wife Melanie of Prospect, Christopher McGary of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and Allison McGary of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Two Great-Granddaughters: Morgan & Madison McGary of Prospect, Pennsylvania and also surviving are several cousins.
Friends and family of Evelyn K. McGary will be received on Thursday, October 23, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 124 EAST NORTH STREET, BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend James A. Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park
Michael C. Maker

Michael C. Maker, 53 of Butler, died 2:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2003 in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 29, 1950 in Butler, PA, he was the son of Michael Maker and Esther Scigliano.
Mr. Maker was employed as a highway maintenance worker for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was Catholic by faith.
Surviving are one brother, Donald Maker of Texas and his aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
Bartholomew W. Legas
August 5, 1916 - October 15, 2003
Bartholomew W. Legas, 87 of Stickle Road, Portersville, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in at his residence.
Born August 5, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Blaze Ligas and Sophia Hink Ligas.
Mr. Legas worked as a driver and delivery man for Signal Transfer Co. He was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Prospect, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Donna) Creech of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Two Grand-daughters, Five Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great-Grandchild, two Brothers, Michael Legas, Henry Legas two Sisters, Mrs. Ann Misko, Mrs. Martha Griener of all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Legas is preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette P. Legas who passed away on June 12, 2001, three sisters and three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Friday, October 17, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Matthew Tosello officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery.
Carl R. "Butch" Lawhead

Carl R. (Butch) Lawhead, 48 of North High Street, Zelienople, Pennsylvania died Friday, November 7, 2003 at 8:30 p.m. at his residence.
Born December 24, 1954 in Champaign, Illinois, he was the son of Robert P. Lawhead, Sr. and Sally Ann McConnell.
Mr. Lawhead worked for Wright Meat Packing Company, Fombell, Pennsylvania. He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Lawhead is survived by his companion, Mary Rose Reese, and her nephew and niece Tommy and Nina Balistrieri of Zelienople, Pennsylvania, whom they made their home with Mr. Lawhead. Also surviving is one brother, Robert P. "Bob" Lawhead, Jr. of Butler, Pennsylvania, six sisters, Mrs. Billie Kerr of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Timothy (Dot) Imhof of Butler, Pennsylvania, Kristine Lawhead of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Jason (Robin) Thompson of Butler, Pennsylvania, Kimberly Lawhead of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Walter (Ginny) Melnik of Butler, Pennsylvania, Twenty-one Nieces and Nephews, and Six Great-Nieces and Nephews.
Preceding him in death was two brothers and one nephew.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend John E. Neyman, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

John G. "Red" Landkrohn

John George "Red" Landkrohn, age 82 of West Old Route 422, Butler, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Butler, Pennsylvania
Born July 2, 1921 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George Charles Landkrohn and Winifred Lois (Evans) Landkrohn.
He worked as a Welder for Westinghouse Atomic Power (Bettis Site) West Mifflin, Pennsylvania retiring on November 17, 1982. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church in Prosperity, Pennsylvania, McKeesport Lodge No. 641, F. & A.M., and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in WW II.
Mr. Landkrohn is survived by his wife, Gertrude M. Sloane Landkrohn, whom he married
January 11, 1942, two sons, Robert Landkrohn of Ruffsdale, Pennsylvania, Kevin Landkrohn of Rockville, Maryland, one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Hillman of Butler, Pennsylvania, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Jack Klingensmith
September 3, 1915 - September 22, 2003
Jack W. Klingensmith, 88 of Eberhart Road, Butler, died Monday, September 22, 2003 in Butler V A Medical Center.
Born September 3, 1915 in Stubenville, Ohio, he was the son of R. D. Klingensmith and Martha Roofneir.
He was retired, having been a co-owner of the Homestead Restaurant, Prospect, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and WW II. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge as a sergeant with the 11th Armored Division. An avid golfer, he worked many years at Lake Arthur Country Club as a starter. He also enjoyed bowling.
Mr. Klingensmith is survived by his wife, Gertrude C. Klingensmith, whom he was married
to for 48 years one son, Jack B. Klingensmith of Huntington Beach, California, three daughters, Jeanette Hartos of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Patricia Kikolauyk of Butler, Pennsylvania, Sandra Missroon of Atlanta, Georgia, Seven Grandchildren and Eight Great-Grandchildren, two Brothers, Basil Klingensmith of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, James Klingensmith of California, and a Number of Nieces and Nephews.
There will be no Public Visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Arthur Wade Coffey from Butler Veteran's Affairs Medical Center officiating.
Phyllis L. Kerr

Phyllis L. Kerr, 73 of Cherokee Drive, Butler, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 1:19 a.m. at her residence.
Born January 18, 1930 in Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles E. Fehl and Irene H. Duncan.
Mrs. Kerr was a retired cashier for A & P Tea Company in Butler. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Butler. Mrs. Kerr was a member of the Adult Choir, Women's Missionary Fellowship, and active in church visitation. Mrs. Kerr also taught Junior church on Sunday. She taught Joy Club and Bible Seekers Club from her home. She was a member of Berean Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Kerr is survived by her husband Stanley K. Kerr, whom she married
on August 24, 1951; one daughter, Gail J. Kerr at home, one step-son, Dennis L. Kerr of Butler, Pennsylvania, one grand-daughter, number of nieces and nephews, four sisters, Mrs. Irene Nichols of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. John (Betty) Shields of East Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Alfred (Ella) Dean of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Earl (Diane) Fennell of East Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Kerr is preceded in death by one sister and one stepdaughter.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Friday, December 19, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend David Maitland officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Ruth M. Janicki
November 5, 1930 - November 27, 2003
Ruth M. Janicki, 73 of Easy Street, Butler, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
Born November 5, 1930 in Chicora, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Harry H. Seely and Catherine C. Kehm.
Mrs. Janicki retired as a manager of accounts receivable for Butler County Community College after 29 years. She was Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Janicki was a Butler High School Alumni class of 1948. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and AARP.
Mrs. Janicki is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Imogene Kraus of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Carol Clark and her husband Howard of Butler, Pennsylvania, one nephew, Thomas Clark and his wife Donna of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, three nieces, Sue Kraus of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Cindy Kraus of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Valerie Oxenreiter and her husband Thomas of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, two great-nephews, Andy Clark of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, Brian Oxenreiter of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, three great-nieces, Danielle and Kaitlyn Clark of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, Sara Oxenreiter of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and several cousins.
Preceding her in death was her husband Bernard F. Janicki, who passed away on August 2, 1995.
There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
