Mary S. Rath, 85 of Rath Lane, Renfrew, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 11:12 a.m. in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born May 27, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, she grew up in the Ben Avon area and then moved to southern Butler County in 1960. She was the daughter of the late Charles Stratford and Violet Griffin.
Mrs. Rath was a homemaker. She attended the North Street Christian Church. She was formerly a secretary with Union National Bank in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Rath was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Butler and for St. John's Home in Mars, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Rath is survived by her husband Robert A. Rath, whom she married
on May 17, 1947, by two sons, Robert A. Rath, Jr. of Mars, Pennsylvania, and Charles S. Rath of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, by four grandchildren, Angela D. Rath, Benjamin A. Rath, Jason C. Rath, Taylor S. Rath, and one sister, Leta Gilbert of Fairfield Glen, Tennessee.
Private services will be held by the family. Interment will follow in North Side cemetery.

Bernice E. Hogan
July 14, 1923 - April 3, 2004
Bernice Elnora Hogan, 80 of Wilson Avenue, Butler, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 9:45 p.m. at her daughter's residence.
Born July 14, 1923 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Lamont Mohney and Grace Garnet (France) Mohney.
Mrs. Hogan was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Kittanning High School, class of 1941. Mrs. Hogan was a charter member, past Royal Matron and past Royal Patron of the Order of Amaranth Butler Chapter 145. She was also a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem #32, former member of Maqueda chapter #421 Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Hogan is survived by her husband William Myron Hogan, whom she married
on March 14, 1942, by her son and his wife, Dennis and Valerie Hogan of Butler, Pennsylvania, her daughter and her husband, M. Diane and James Paraska of Butler, Pennsylvania, daughter, Lisa E. McCarren of Butler, Pennsylvania, one brother, William D. Mohney, four sisters, Florence Daugherty of Alliquippa, Pennsylvania, Wilma Schwartz of Cowansville, Pennsylvania, Gayle Groft of Butler, Pennsylvania, Patricia McKinney of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, thirteen Grandchildren; Keith A. Hogan, Christine M. (Hogan) Glaser, Brian W. Hogan, Michael W. Paraska, Sarah G. (Paraska) Vorel, Samuel J. Paraska, Kathleen O. Paraska, Tobin P. McCarren, Charles H. McCarren, Millicent C. McCarren, Elizabeth A. McCarren, Michael S. McCarren, and William F. McCarren, five Great Grandchildren; Sarah M. Hogan, Keith D. Hogan, Kylie A. Hogan, Lauren E. Glaser, and James H. Glaser, ten nieces and two nephews.
Mrs. Hogan was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Clever of Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6 and 7, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m..
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend J. David Panther officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Evelyn M. LeFever
April 29, 1924 - April 3, 2004
Evelyn M. LeFever, 79 of Cedartown, Georgia died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 2:50 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital. Mrs. LeFever was living with her daughter Patricia Cooper during her illness.
Born April 29, 1924 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Bijah Hall and Claudia Hall.
Mrs. LeFever was a homemaker. She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Cedartown, Georgia.
Mrs. LeFever is survived by her husband Joseph J. LeFever, whom she married
August 17, 1962, by four daughters, Patricia Cooper of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jill Crawford of Cabot, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Reginald (Kandy) Kriebel of Karns City, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Mark (Levonne) Leuenberger of Roswell, Georgia, Eleven Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Hall, and Albert Hall both of Tarentum, Pennsylvania, one sister, Mrs. Claudia Harvey of Sarver, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. LeFever was preceded in death by her two brothers.

Alice Marie Hoffman
June 8, 1915 - July 2, 2004
Alice Marie Hoffman, 89, formerly of Muntz Avenue, Butler, Dayton, Pennsylvania, and Marlboro, Maryland, died Friday, July 2, 2004 at 1:10 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 8, 1915 in Bryan, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Andrew Clyde Cogley and Fanny Rupp.
She was co-owner and operator with her late husband of the Ford Motor Company in Dayton, Pennsylvania and the Forest Hills Motel in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She was a member of Summit United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hoffman is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William (Barbara) McKee of Butler, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Richard (Renee) Skinner of Peachtree City, Georgia, two grandsons, Shawn McKee of Madison, Wisconsin, David McKee of Rolla, Missouri, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Aleen White and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband Reed C. Hoffman, who passed away on December 10, 1992, two brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held at the Summit United Presbyterian Church, Monday, July 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Hartman, Chaplain of Concordia Lutheran Ministries officiating. Entombment will follow in Lawn Haven Mausoleum in Worthington, Pennsylvania.

Albert L. "Skip" Brown
August 6, 1926 - July 8, 2004
Albert L. "Skip" Brown, Jr., 77 of Dutchtown Road, Butler, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 6, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Albert L. Brown and Rose Ann Christy.
Mr. Brown worked in Plant Protection for Butler Armco (AK Steel). He was an active member of Summit Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and WW II. He was a member of the Jefferson Grange #1373, VFW Post 249, Armco Retirees Association. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling and was a former Cub Scout leader. He was a devoted husband, loving father and the greatest of grandfathers.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Jean C. Emery Brown, whom he married
on May 10, 1947, by one daughter, Jeannie and her husband George Cassioli of Butler, Pennsylvania, two sons, Gary and his wife Paula Brown of Butler, Pennsylvania, Albert L. "Skip" and his wife Idelle Brown of Butler, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren, Bennett and Casey Cassioli, Jessica, Erin, Ben and Jason Brown, one sister, Mrs. Nancy Collins of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his five sisters.

Joseph H. Fisher
August 7, 1918 - July 14, 2004
Joseph H. Fisher, 85 of Newark, Delaware formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at his residence in Churchman Village.
Born August 7, 1918 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph Fisher and Marjorie Emerick Fisher Monroe.
Mr. Fisher was 1937 graduate of Butler High School in 1937 and a former local YMCA physical education instructor. Following graduation, he worked in Butler for several years as a master auto mechanic prior to enlisting in the U. S. Army. He served for three years with the 1885th Engineering Aviation Battalion and was recommended for officer's candidacy. Shortly after his honorable discharge from military service, Mr. Fisher accepted a position with the Chrysler Corporation, where he would enjoy a long and successful career. He worked as an engineer in a variety of capacities for the company and earned many honors and distinctions including a Quality Engineering Certificate with a score of 98%. During his employment with Chrysler, he also continued his engineering education at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Fisher retired from Chrysler as a Product Quality Engineer in 1975 after 30 years of service.
A 56-year member of the Masonic order, Mr. Fisher was member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #272, Butler, Pennsylvania, the Valley of Erie Consistory, Erie, Pennsylvania and Syria Shrine Temple, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also attended Masonic meetings in Newark, Delaware. In his leisure time, Mr. Fisher enjoyed golfing, camping, and fishing, especially on the lake in Belgrade, Maryland.
His beloved wife of 56 years, Lucetta M. Swigart Fisher, died in 2001.
Mr. Fisher is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Burgun, Diane L. Beauchamp, one son, Jeffrey H. Fisher, five grandchildren, Nathan J. Burgun, Daniel J. Burgun, Jennifer C. Burgun, Emily J. Burgun, and Nicole S. Fisher, all of Newark, Delaware, by one brother-in-law, Dale Swigart of Butler, Pennsylvania, and one sister-in-law, Joanne Swigart of Gallup, New Mexico.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Sunday, July 18, 2004 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday, July 18, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Steven McGuigan, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Summit Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Hilma G. Allshouse, 84 formerly of Germaine Road, Butler, died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at 5:25 a.m. in Sunnyview Home.
Born June 23, 1920 in Fairmount City, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Edward P. Nale and Eva A. Lerch.
Mrs. Allshouse was a homemaker. She was a member of North Main Street Church of God, and was a member of the Keenagers Sunday School class of her church. She was an alumni of the Clarion Limestone High School, class of 1938.
Mrs. Allshouse is survived by her husband Ivan Jack Allshouse, whom she married
on February 6, 1942, by one daughter, Mrs. Linda C. Neyman-Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania, one son, Keith I. Allshouse of Durham, North Carolina, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Florence George of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Allshouse is preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Florence G. Frantz

Florence G. Frantz, 90 of Butler, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at 6:00 a.m. in Shelbourne Assisted Living.
Born February 13, 1914 in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of George Koons and Lena Frech.
She was a packer for R.T. French Foods. Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Marilyn Caplan Quinn of Wildwood, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Linda F. Youells of Palm Bay, Florida.
No public visitation or funeral service will be held. Interment will be at Hillside cemetery in Souderton, Pennsylvania.
