Edna Spangler, 82 of Shannon Road, Renfrew, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 10:26 p.m. at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born July 13, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Lawrence Young and Mary Texter.
Mrs. Spangler was a homemaker. She was a member of White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Tanglewood Senior Center, BUCOS and Coachman's Camping Club. She enjoyed her grandchildren, camping, traveling, and painting.
Mrs. Spangler is survived by five sons, Donald and Nonie Spangler of Butler, Pennsylvania, William and Deanna Spangler of Butler, Pennsylvania, Ronald and Becky Spangler of Prospect, Pennsylvania, Larry and Debbie Spangler of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, David Spangler of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Linda) Davis of Monroe, North Carolina, Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Lynn of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Mrs. Erma Mesner, Michigan, Mrs. Grace Hempfling of Butler, Pennsylvania, twelve grandchildren, two step grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Spangler was preceded in death by her husband Bennett H. Spangler, whom she married
on November 7, 1942 and he passed away on September 27, 1982, by one brother and one sister.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Lee Dreyer officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

David M. Freehling, Sr.
June 28, 1926 - May 18, 2004
David M. Freehling Sr., age 77 of Holyoke Road, Butler, Pennsylvania passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at 6:55 P.M. in the Fairhaven Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on June 28,1926, he was the son of the late Alvin Freehling and Helen Meeker Freehling. Mr. Freehling was a member of The First Baptist Church in Butler, The Berean Sunday School Class of the church and had been a former Sunday School teacher at the church. He was retired from IBM where he served as a technician for thirty-five years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Freehling is survived by three sons, David M. Freehling Jr. of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Dale T. Freehling of Renfrew, Pennsylvania and Daniel B. Freehling of Butler, Pennsylvania, two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Donna M.) Moore of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Dixie Freehling of East Brady, Pennsylvania, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Rhoda) Huber of Butler, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Freehling was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy E. Stewart Freehling on September 14,1987, and by two sons.

Interment will follow in The Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut, Pennsylvania.

Dorothy M. Abels, 82 of Old Plank Road, Butler, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 1:10 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 8, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Paul L. Fennell and Stella Caldwell.
Mrs. Abels was a homemaker. She was a member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, Cooperstown, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Jefferson Grange and Women of the Moose Lodge #260.
Mrs. Abels is survived by her husband Thomas J. Abels, four sons, Robert W. Abels of Churchville, New York, T. William Abels of Meridian, Pennsylvania, Daniel W. Abels of Columbia, Tennessee, Larry P. Abels of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, Nine Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Alberta Graham of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Alice Hughes of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Nancy Klein of Chicora, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Abels was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Helen Christine Shivers, 96 formerly of Trinidad Street, Penn Township, Butler, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 4:25 a.m. at her daughter's residence.
Born April 28, 1908 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of James M. Kunkle and Winifred Lally.
Mrs. Shivers was a homemaker and crossing guard in Wilkinsburg and Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Nixon United Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #0550, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Shivers is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ronald A. (Diane) Marsico, Sr. of Butler, Pennsylvania, two sons, William Thomas Zimmerman of White Plains, Maryland, Wallace A. Shiver, Jr. of Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one brother, Lloyd William Kunkle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shivers is preceded in death by her husband Wallace A. Shiver, Sr., who passed away on July 19, 1988, by one daughter, one son, three grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother.

Betty C. Kuminkoski

Betty C. Kuminkoski, 80 of Township Line Road, Butler, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 26, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of James E. Dietrich and Dora Alma Brown.
Mrs. Kuminkoski was a homemaker and nursing assistant for VA Medical Center. She was a member of Oak Hills Christian Church. Mrs. Kuminkoski was a member of the A. A. R. P. and of the Colonial Williamsburg Founders Association. She also was an Elder Emeritus of her church and was in the church choir for many years.
Mrs. Kuminkoski is survived by two sons, Herman (Buzz) Kuminkoski, Jr. of Viera, Florida, James A. Kuminkoski of Butler, Pennsylvania, one daughter, Ardella L. Sincock of Alta Loma, California, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lavonne (Bonnie) Olen, Dolores Jeanne Halahurich, Donna Joanne Dietrich all of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kuminkoski was preceded in death by her husband Herman S. Kuminkoski, Sr., who passed away on May 2, 2002 and by one grandson.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Wednesday, May 5th and Thursday, May 6th, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Oak Hills Christian Church, Friday, May 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Conyers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery.

Anthony (Tony) Lewis Snow
August 1, 1973 - April 30, 2004
Anthony (Tony) Lewis Snow, 29 of Butler, died suddenly Friday, April 30, 2004 before his arrival at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born August 1, 1973 in Parker, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Leroy Snow and Jane Geibel.
Mr. Snow was employed as an operations manager for Pro-Clean Cleaning Services of Butler. He attended Community Alliance Church. He sang for area bands Blind Side and was currently with the band Vale.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Sue West, whom he married
June 8, 2002; two sons, Chord Snow and Christian Snow, at home; his father of West Sunbury; his mother of Hermitage; his stepfather, David Vasconi of Hermitage; and his stepmother, Patricia Snow of West Sunbury.
Also surviving are five brothers, Kyle Snow of West Sunbury, Billy Vasconi of Conneaut Lake, Jeff Vasconi of West Middlesex, Jason Vasconi of North Carolina currently serving with the Marines stationed in Iraq and Robert Stephens of Karns City; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Benji) Shenette of Chicora, Mrs. Samuel (Penny) Geibel of West Sunbury, and Mrs. Luke (Mellissa) Rakoci of New Wilmington; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Doris Snell of Mercer; his maternal grandfather, Marcus Geibel and wife Donna of Butler; his maternal step-grandmother, Patricia Simons of Butler; and several nieces and nephews

Garnet M. McPherson, 87 formerly of Autumn Drive, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at 3:05 a.m. in Grove Manor, Grove City, Pennsylvania.
Born March 16, 1917 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Flack and Bessie McCain.
Mrs. McPherson was a homemaker. She was protestant by faith. She was a life member of the South Butler Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. McPherson made her home with her daughter, Sandra Miller.
Mrs. McPherson is survived by three daughters, Sandra Miller of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. George (Judy) Kostecky of Lyndora, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Carl (Sheila) Orand of Omaha, Nebraska, one son, Dennis W. McPherson of Grove City, Pennsylvania, eight Grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McPherson was preceded in death by her husband Harold DeRoy McPherson, who passed away on November 23, 1996 and by two brothers and three sisters.

Donna J. Huselton, 56 of Butler, died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 6:58 a.m. at her residence.
Born June 29, 1947 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ellis Clark and Sara L. Davis.
Mrs. Huselton attended Living Waters Community Church. She was a Health Care Consultant with Grane Health Care for 7 years and then she was employed as a nurse at Valencia Woods Nursing Home for 20 years.
Surviving are her husband Gerald (Tom) Huselton, Jr., who she married
on November 9, 1974, a son, Dennis Frketich of Brookville, two daughters, Sherie Wilson of Pittsburgh and Tracy L. Huselton of Butler, five grandchildren, a brother, Dr. Lloyd Young of Honolulu, Hawaii, a sister, Mrs. Betty Bollinger of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her one brother and one sister.

Fern Elizabeth Heyer, 98 of the Terrace Apartments, Butler, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at 12:45 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 26, 1905 in Natrona, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Bertram C. Smith and Bessie Mae Hughes.
Mrs. Heyer was a homemaker. She was a member of Homeacre Chapel Church. Mrs. Heyer was an honorary member of the Butler City Fire Department.
Mrs. Heyer is survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John (Betty) Devlin of Arnold, Pennsylvania, three brothers, John Smith of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, Richard Smith of Sarver, Pennsylvania, Bertram (Junior) Smith of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Charles Dufford and John W. Heyer, one son, Brady Dufford, one daughter, Garnet Stewart, one grand-daughter, Margaret Stewart, four sisters and one brother.
