Harold M. Baker

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Harold M. Baker, 66, of 205 N. Church St., died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at his home.

Born June 13, 1932, in Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late Howard E. and Emma G. Floyd Baker.

He attended Coldspring Schools in Fayetteville, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed by Mont Alto Sanitarium in the boiler room, then worked for Bonded Applicators in Waynesboro. Prior to retiring in 1982, he worked for Wiles Roofing.

He was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Addie Butler Baker, whom he married Oct. 18, 1958; three  daughters, Wanda Stahley, Jenny Rowe and Barbara Collins, all of Waynesboro; two sons, Steven Baker and Howard Baker, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Verna Wagaman of South Mountain, Pa.; two brothers, the Rev. Ernest Baker of Westminster, Md., and Herman L. Baker of Fannettsburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a stepgrandson; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida P. Shaffer and Violet M. Gossert; and three brothers, Glen E. Baker, Ivan R. Baker and Cletus E. Baker Sr.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Robert L. Fitz will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Road, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Ethel M. Haggins

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ethel M. Haggins, 60, of Caledonia Manor Health Services and formerly of Wauchula, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 20, 1938, in Accomac, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Beathice Bailey Haggins Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Jordan Sr., in 1997.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of True Holiness Church, Zolfo Springs, Fla.

She is survived by three  daughters, Sandra P. Lester of Tampa, Fla., Tammy Atkins of Avon Park, Fla., and Robin McKenzie of Sebring, Fla.; three sons, Michael L. Haggins Sr. of Chambersburg, Robert B. Jordan Jr. of Bowling Green, Fla., and Kenneth Jordan of York, Pa.; five sisters, Mary Haggins of Accomac, Va., Catherine Haggins of Salvageville, Va., Rosetta Haggins and Carolyn Pernell, both of Camden, N.J., and Betty Gray of Tasley, Va.; two brothers, Charles Haggins Jr. of Anacock, Va. and Lawerance Haggins of Berlin, Md.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Jordan.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. W. Larry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The viewing will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Breathed B. Lynch

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Breathed B. Lynch, 94, of Warfordsburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at the home of his daughter, Yvonne E. Black, in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Jan. 9, 1904, in Bethel Township, Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Riley J. and Sarah Jane Mellott Lynch.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive M. Mellott Lynch, in 1983.

He was a farmer in Fulton County.

He was a member of Needmore Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Marlin M. Lynch of Warfordsburg; a sister, Phoebe Garland of Needmore, Pa.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Fern Clark and Mary Barnhart; three brothers, Gailey Lynch, Webster Lynch and Foster Lynch.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore. Burial will be in Sidling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral home will be open today from 3 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fulton County Medical Center, Home Care Department, 216 S. First St. McConnellsburg, Pa. 17233.

Rodney C. Ross

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Rodney Charles Ross, 48, of 2100 Southeast 159th Place, and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., died of a heart attack Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at his home.

Born July 18, 1950, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Mary Victoria Wiederhold Ross of Vancouver and the late Clyde Franklin Ross.

He was a 1968 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

He was employed as a manufacturing engineer for Boeing Co. in the flight controls business team.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, April Dawn Stahl of Greencastle, Pa.; two sisters, Marlene Blubaugh of Waynesboro and Carletta Mahoney of Vancouver; a brother, Keith C. Ross of Battleground, Wash.; two grandchildren; a niece; three nephews; and his companion of seven years, Linda Rogers of Vancouver.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Alzheimer's Disease Research, 1013 Mumma Road, Suite 303, Lemoyne, Pa. 17043.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

E. Lewis Leaman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - E. Lewis Leaman, 54, of 3320 Scotland Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at his home.

Born Sept. 7, 1944, in Intercourse, Pa., he was the son of Evelyn R. Hershey Leaman, of Lititz, Pa., and the late Elmer D. Leaman.

He was a graduate of Lancaster (Pa.) Mennonite High School and Eastern Mennonite College. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1971; and a master's degree from the same university in hospital and health care administration in 1973.

He was president and CEO of Menno Haven Inc., Chambersburg. He had worked at Menno Haven for 15 years, first as its administrator. Earlier, he was assistant administrator of Williamsport (Pa.) Hospital; and administrator of LaJunta Medical Center in LaJunta, Colo. He earlier worked at the University of Alabama Hospitals and The Children's Hospital, both in Birmingham.

He was a member of Marion (Pa.) Mennonite Church and served in its music, youth and educational ministries.

He served on the boards of Chambersburg Area United Way; Valley Bank and Trust Co.; Habitat for Humanity; and the Mont Alto campus of Penn State University. He was on the board and executive committee of Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Homes for the Aging, among other professional organizations.

He was a member of American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging; and Chambersburg Rotary Club.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Arlene Garber Leaman, whom he married Jan. 7, 1967; two  daughters, Monica L. Kehr of Wakarusa, Ind., and Julette L. Leaman of Harrisonburg, Va.; a son, Brent L. Leaman of Fresno, Calif.; four sisters, Wilma R. Smoker of Duchess, Aberta, Canada, Martha H. Horst of Century, Fla., Susan H. Stahl of Harrisonburg, Va., and Marian H. Mininger of Stuarts Draft, Va.; three brothers, J. Mervin Leaman of Denver, Clair H. Leaman of Coatesville, Pa., and Ronald H. Leaman of Refton, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Marion Mennonite Church, 4365 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg.

Memorial services also will be held Monday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, and at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Menno Haven, Penn Hall, 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Cleon Nyce and the Rev. Ray Geigley will officiate.

Private burial will be in Marion Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The viewing will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Menno Haven Inc., Wellness Center, 1427 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Marion Mennonite Church, Building Fund, 4385 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Edgar N. Jacobs Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Edgar N. Jacobs Jr., 82, of 40 D Menno Village, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Menno Haven.

Born May 29, 1916, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edgar N. and Blanche V. Miller Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice Mullen Jacobs, in 1988.

He was a 1934 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He worked for the former Horn's Motor Express in Chambersburg for 48 years, retiring as vice president of traffic.

He was a member of Menno Haven Christian Fellowship, Chambersburg.

He was a past member of Chambersburg Memorial YMCA Board of Directors; and had been a member of Chambersburg Area School District Board of Directors.

He was a member of Chambersburg Area School Authority; and Falling Spring Chapter 2840 AARP, George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, and Noontime Lions Club, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Jacobs, whom he married in February 1991; a daughter, Suzanne Packard of Cincinnati; two sons, Hubert N. Jacobs of Baltimore and John C. Jacobs of Chambersburg; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James F. Jacobs, in 1994.

Services will be private. The Rev. Samuel J. Troyer will officiate. Private burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing.

The family will receive friends Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of John C. Jacobs, 1740 Alexander Ave., Chambersburg.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Jack E. Kirkpatrick Sr.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jack E. Kirkpatrick Sr., 73, of Mount Vernon Terrace, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro.

Born Oct. 14, 1924, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Ross and Helen Weagley Kirkpatrick.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.

He was employed with Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, for 47 years. He retired in 1990.

He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was a member of American Legion Post 15; Eagles Club; Owls Club; Order of Owls Nest 1073; Elks Lodge 731; Mixed Bowling League; Men's Bowling League, ATH&L Fire Co., Waynesboro; Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fire Association; and National AARP.

He served as Exalted Ruler from 1960 to 1961.

He is survived by his wife, A. Marie Whitlock Kirkpatrick; two sons, Jack E. Kirkpatrick Jr. and J. Edward Kirkpatrick, both of Waynesboro; four brothers, Lawrence D. Kirkpatrick of Rouzerville, Pa., Thomas P. Kirkpatrick of Santa Rosa, Calif., Elmer B. Kirkpatrick of Taneytown, Md., and Dennis R. Kirkpatrick of Lodi, Calif.; five grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred D. Kirkpatrick.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or Summit Health, c/o Waynesboro Hospital, 501 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
