FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Ann Bordini, 80, of 6881 Fairway Drive East, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born March 29, 1918, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Donato Iscaro DiGioia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bordini, in 1996.
She retired in 1982 after 16 years, with General Instrument Corp., Hicksville, N.Y., where she worked as an electronics technician.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sutphin of Fayetteville; a sister, Esther Badenhop of Long Island, N.Y.; and two brothers, Peter DiGioia and Enrico DiGioia, both of Long Island.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin DiGioia and Dominick DiGioia Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
A Christian wake service will be conducted today at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph S. Fleming
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joseph S. Fleming, 64, of 939 E. Brandon Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 19, 1934, in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of the late Kenneth J. and Ada L. Swarner Fleming.
He retired in 1993, after 28 years with Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of General James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM, Chambersburg; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 143, Lewistown, Pa.; and Marine Corps League, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy E. Shope Fleming, whom he married May 29, 1958; two daughters, Donna J. Miller and Beatrice M. Neil, both of Chambersburg; a sister, Nellie Straley of Chambersburg; a brother, Ray Fleming of Fayetteville, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Kenneth E. Wenger will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A masonic service will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home by members of General James Chambers Lodge 801, Chambersburg.

Jessie M. Hawbaker
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Jessie M. Hawbaker, 86, of 2471 Buchanan Trail East, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born April 23, 1912, near Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Houser and Nora Duncan Higgins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur R. "Bill" Hawbaker, in 1987.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Church of God of Mercersburg.
She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Mildred L. Hornbaker and Margaret M. Divelbiss, both of Mercersburg, and Nancy M. Moser of Greencastle; two sons, Ray J. Hawbaker of Mercersburg and Wayne E. Hawbaker of Greencastle; a brother, Robert J. Higgins of Upton, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Flagle; four sisters, Margaret Haley, Olive Straley, Hilda Hornbaker and Mary Straley; and a brother, Charles Higgins.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Church of God, West California and South Park avenues, Mercersburg. The Rev. Norris E. Sword and the Rev. Clair E. Ebersole will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Run Brethren Cemetery, Welsh Run, Pa.
The viewing will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Grace Martz
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Grace Martz, 77, of McConnellsburg, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at her home.
Born May 9, 1921, in Knobsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Barbara Forney Kerlin.
She worked at H.J. Heinz Co. in Chambersburg and at Seylors Rest Stop as a dishwasher.
She was a member of Knobsville United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed bird watching and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Martz, whom she married Jan. 2, 1937; four daughters, Mary Ann Hykes of Waynesboro, Pa., Barbara Ellen Deinler of Mercersburg, Pa., and Patricia Mae Everts and Glenda Kay Carbaugh, both of McConnellsburg; two sons, Harold E. Martz of Hustontown, Pa., and Douglas Michael Martz of McConnellsburg; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Amanda Cooper; and nine brothers, Elmer, Ira, Jim, George, Daniel, David, Jacob, Alvin and Sam Kerlin.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Knobsville United Methodist Church. Pastor George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to services at the church.
Myrl H. Shoap
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Myrl H. Shoap, 78, of 6040 Molly Pitcher Highway, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1920, in Shippensburg, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Florence Craig Shoap.
He retired in 1983 from Fairchild Industries, formerly of Hagerstown, where he worked for 38 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Brown Shoap; two sons, Myrl E. Shoap of Lottsburg, Va., and Gerald L. Shoap of Shippensburg; two sisters, Mary E. Hurley of Carlisle, Pa., and Thelma F. Trimmer of Morristown, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters; and four brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. The Rev. Lloyd T. Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
Viewing will be Sunday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
F. Loretta Nelson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - F. Loretta Nelson, 59, of 4235 Dixie Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at her home.
Born April 25, 1939, in Paw Paw, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joshua and Dorothy Whitacre Anderson.
A seamstress, she retired from J. Schoeneman Co., Chambersburg.
She was a member of Chambersburg Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin C. Nelson, whom she married Oct. 16, 1955; two daughters, Pamela Nelson of Scotland, Pa., and Kathy Christman of St. Thomas, Pa.; a sister, Doris Toney of Cleveland; four brothers, Garland Anderson of Charles Town, W.Va., Roland Anderson of Springfield, Va., Kenneth Anderson of Paw Paw and Lynnwood Anderson of Cumberland, Md.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Ken Gibble will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary L. Trail
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Mary Louise Trail, 53, of Warfordsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born July 16, 1945, in Hancock, she was the daughter of Raymond Bishop of North Carolina and the late Catherine Virginia Thompson Brake.
She was employed by Insignia Management of Lanham, Md., and was manager of Quaker Creek, Hancock, for 10 years.
She attended St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock.
In addition to her Father, she is survived by her husband, James Franklin Trail of Warfordsburg; three daughters, Cathy L. Baker of Baltimore, Jamie L. Carr of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Carol Ann Trail of Needmore, Pa.; two sons, James W. Trail of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Michael S. Trail at home; a brother, Gary E. Keefer Sr. of Hancock; a stepbrother, James Brake of Chicago; seven grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kenneth Edward Brathwaite.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
The family will receive friends today and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.
Morris D. Working
FAIRFIELD, Pa. - Morris D. Working, 52, of 1711 Waynesboro Pike, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Gettysburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Luella Ruth Working of Fairfield.
He was a 1963 graduate of Fairfield Joint High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Mansfield.
After his discharge from the Navy, he was employed as a driver for elderly people. He also was a self-employed contractor.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private services will be Monday at the convenience of the family at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Eugene M. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Jacob's Church Cemetery, Adams County, Pa.
There will be no viewing.

Lester G. Hoover
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lester G. Hoover, 80, of 41 Acorn Circle, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg.
Born July 20, 1918, in Rock Hill, Pa., he was the son of the late Martin Albert and Minnie Hunsecker Hoover.
He was employed by Southern Welding Supply in Chambersburg as a manager, retiring after 25 years of service. He then was employed by Chambersburg Area School District as a bus driver, retiring after 12 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.
He also was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg. He worked for more than 20 years with the Chambersburg Little League as an umpire, coach and with league representation.
He had been a Boy Scout leader in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Sylva H. Hartzok Hoover; one daughter, Carol L. Adams of Chambersburg; one son, Richard G. Hoover of Chambersburg; one sister, Esther Armstrong of St. Thomas, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Hoover; and one half brother, Harvey Hunsecker.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
