Melvin F. Shultz
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Melvin F. Shultz, 62, of 211 E. Main St., died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born April 26, 1936, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Cleason B. Shultz of Fayetteville and the late Hilda Rose Shultz.
For the past 14 years, he had been employed with Rocky Spring Golf Course at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. Earlier, he worked at Caledonia Golf Course near Fayetteville and Teledyne-Landis in Waynesboro, Pa.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of General James Chambers Lodge 801 F & AM, Chambersburg; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest 145, Shippensburg, Pa.
He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and doing repair work for friends.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Hock Shultz, whom he married Oct. 20, 1958; a son, Ricky F. Shultz of Chambersburg; and a grandson, Ricky F. Shultz Jr. of Chambersburg.
Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services.
Masonic services will be conducted by members of General James Chambers Lodge 801 F & AM at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Frances A. Socks
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Frances A. Socks, 60, of 8899 Tomstown Road, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born July 10, 1938, in Quincy Township, Pa., she was the daughter of Henry Wilson Socks Sr. of Waynesboro and the late Mary Evelyn Creager Socks.
She was a 1958 graduate of Quincy High School.
Early in life, she was employed by Quincy Orphanage, now known as Quincy United Methodist Home, in the housekeeping department. She then worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill and prior to her retirement on disability in 1996, worked at Regency Thermographers in Waynesboro in the greeting cards department and the catalog department.
She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waynesboro, where she taught in the primary department for 12 years and was a visiting teacher of the church for many years.
She was a member of National AARP.
In addition to her Father, she is survived by two sisters, Mildred L. Finney of Waynesboro and Phyllis I. Ecker of Frederick, Md.; a brother, Henry W. Socks Jr. of Point Saint Lucie, Fla.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro. Bishop Gary A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Elizabeth V. Cutchall
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Elizabeth V. Cutchall, 80, of 124 N. Main St., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Bessie V. Ritter Forney.
Her husband, Harold K. Cutchall, died in 1990. They were married June 3, 1946.
She was employed by Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown as an executive secretary for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Mercersburg Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing, but the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Guy S. Hawbaker
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Guy S. Hawbaker, 84, of 12520 Fort Loudon Road, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Nov. 13, 1913, in Montgomery Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Sarah Catherine Hawbaker Hawbaker.
He was formerly employed by Mercersburg Academy and the former McCleary Oil Co., both in Mercersburg. He was last employed by the former Mercersburg Tannery, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of Greencastle Church of God.
He was a member of Two Top Ruritan Club, Mercersburg.
He was judge of elections for Montgomery Township for many years. He also assisted in the restoration of the Old Log Church of Blairs Valley, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rowe Hawbaker, whom he married in 1935; a daughter, Ruth E. Burall of Mercersburg; a son, Russell C. Hawbaker of Mercersburg; two sisters, Ruth Rohrer of Hustontown, Pa., and Mary Jane Timmons of Mercersburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Greencastle Church of God. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Run Brethren Cemetery, Welsh Run, Pa.
A viewing will be held at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Raymond E. Glass
FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Raymond E. Glass, 64, of 6993 Path Valley Road, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born March 23, 1934, in Richmond Furnace, Pa., he was the son of Grace Glass Liberatore of Palm Beach, Fla.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 23 years, retiring in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry Division for nine years.
He was a Protestant.
He was a life member of Wesley Yeager Post 606 American Legion, Fort Loudon; Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 VFW, Mercersburg, Pa.; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842 in Chambersburg. He was a member of Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club in Chambersburg, Pa.
He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by a brother, Ronald C. Glass of St. Thomas, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Jackson.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Karl R. Herman will officiate. Burial will be in Carrick United Methodist Church Cemetery, Metal Township, Pa.
Viewing will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Guy L. Mills
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Guy Leroy "Geezzer" Mills, 73, of 5500 Lincoln Way East, and formerly of South Mountain, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1925, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Bernard F. Mills Sr. and Lela Jane Suffecool Mills.
Early in life he lived in Clear Spring. Later his family moved to Waynesboro, Pa.
He was employed by Samuel Dixon State Hospital, now South Mountain Restoration Center, retiring in 1990. He was previously employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 29 years as a truck driver.
He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.
He attended Fayetteville Church of God, Fayetteville.
He was a member of National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Barnes Mills, whom he married June 9, 1950; a stepdaughter, Norma J. Naugle of South Mountain, Pa.; two sisters, Helen Rook of Waynesboro and Jane Reese of Gateway, Va.; three brothers, George H. Mills, Glenn A. Mills and Ronald W. Mills, all of Waynesboro; two stepgranddaughters; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Hillard Mills, Bernard F. Mills Jr. and David Mills.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain, with military graveside services conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Blanche R. Croteau
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Blanche R. Croteau, 90, of 321 S. Washington St., died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg, where she resided for a week.
Born Nov. 8, 1907, in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Zenaide Rouleau Binette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalmat T. Croteau, in 1992.
She was a self-employed dressmaker and seamstress and did alterations for the former Dreyfus Men's Shop in Waynesboro, Pa., and the former Keller's Men's and Boys' Shop in Greencastle.
She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church of Skowhegan, Maine, a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Waynesboro, and then St. Mark's Catholic Church of Greencastle. She was a member of P.C.C.W. of the church.
She had been a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Skowhegan and was a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary of Waynesboro and Greencastle. She was a member of AARP Chapter 2977 of Waynesboro and National AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Vivianne D. Beeler of Greencastle; one son, Normand P. Croteau of Lakeside, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta B. Nevels.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave. in Greencastle. The Rev. Joseph L. Stahura will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., in Greencastle, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Kelvin L. Horst
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Kelvin Lee Horst, infant son of Durrel L. and Cindy F. Martin Horst, of 13190 Gearhart Road, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, several hours following his birth.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, James L. and Mary Jane Martin of Hagerstown; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Betty Jane Horst of Waynesboro, Pa.; maternal great-grandmother, Mary H. Martin of Hagerstown; paternal great-grandparents, Rebecca M. Horst of Hagerstown, and Elmer J. and Mary M. Horst of Waynesboro.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Paradise Mennonite Church Cemetery near Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrel Martin and the Rev. D. Richard Martin will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
