Glenn S. Smith
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Glenn S. "Smitty" Smith, 85, of 222 Butternut Lane, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Piney Mountain Home.
Born April 6, 1913, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wylie and Ella M. Shatzer Smith.
He retired as an automobile mechanic for Shively Motors.
He was a member of Crider United Brethren Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Morris Smith, whom he married in 1933; two daughters, G. Joanne Grove and Shirley June Coy, both of Chambersburg; two sons, Richard E. Smith of Manchester, Ky., and Glenn S. Smith II of Chambersburg; a sister, Marian Wible of Waynesboro, Pa.; a brother, Lester Smith of Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lena King; a half sister, Hazel Elliott; and two brothers, Cecil Smith and Wylie Smith.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Criders United Brethren Church.
The Rev. Richard Mose, the Rev. David Newell and Pastor Richard E. Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa.
The family also will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

Evelyn N. Heefner
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Evelyn N. Hess Heefner, 89, of 142 Madison Ave., died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born July 26, 1909, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Hallie Goetz Hess.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wilson Heefner, in 1985.
They were married in June 1930.
She was a 1927 graduate of Waynesboro High School; and a 1929 graduate of Shippensburg State University.
She was employed by Waynesboro School District for 22 years, teaching elementary children, mostly first- graders. She retired in 1973.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Hagerstown, and taught Sunday School classes, sang in the church choir and was an elder of the church.
While living in Stockton, Calif., she attended Quail Lakes Baptist Church.
She was a member of Pennsylvania Association of Retired Teachers; Franklin County Retired Teachers Association; Mount Vernon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 398, Waynesboro; Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary; National AARP; and a charter member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro, which she and her husband organized in 1977.
She is survived by four children, Dr. Wilson A. Heefner of Stockton, Colin F. Heefner, Jay R. Heefner and Madolin L. Harbaugh, all of Waynesboro; three sisters, Glovelia Williams and Shirley Hovis, both of Waynesboro, and Rodetta Nulle of Burlingame, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, James H. Hess, Leroy F. Hess, Fred H. Hess and Preston L. Hess.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Harold W. Boyden
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold W. Boyden, 79, a resident of Menno Haven and formerly of Parkesburg, Pa., died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 23, 1919, in Todd, N.C., he was the son of the late Lillard and Amanda J. Grimes Boyden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Frances Lee Boyden, in 1988.
He retired in 1989 from Schneur's in Parkesburg after more than 10 years of service.
He was a former member of Newlinville Mennonite Church, Coatesville, Pa.
He is survived by two daughters, Effielow B. Fleagle of Chambersburg and Clemmie J. Richards of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Forrest D. Boyden of Westminster, Md., and Wallace L. Boyden of Lancaster, Pa.; a sister, Bertha Cox of Independence, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
Pastor Harold R. Engel will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services.

William J. Cauffman
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - William J. "Bill" Cauffman, 85, of 11383 Anthony Highway, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Oct. 1, 1912, in Mont Alto, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Mollie M. Shockey Cauffman.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was a life member of Mechanics Steam Fire Engine and Hose Co. No. 1 in Waynesboro, Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association, and Franklin-Fulton County Firemen's Association.
He was a member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle, Pa., and Cascade American Legion Post 239 in Cascade.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Cosgrove Cauffman, whom he married March 25, 1948.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
