Margaret V. Del Prete
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Margaret V. "Ginnie" Del Prete, 75, of 18 Kensington Drive and formerly of Sykesville, Md., died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 19, 1923, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Elizabeth Bayer Kistrup.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dudley P. Leizear, in 1974.
She was a 1941 graduate of Glen Burnie High School, Glen Burnie, Md.
She was a homemaker.
She served in the U.S. Navy.
She was an avid dancer, animal lover and horticulturist.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Del Prete; a daughter, Linda A. Reddington of Monroeville, Pa.; four stepsons, Wayne Del Prete of Riverside, Conn., Lee C. Del Prete of Baltimore, Douglas G. Del Prete of Marblehead, Mass., and Wayne L. Del Prete of Reston, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, A. Doris Kistrup.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg; and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Haight Funeral Home, Sykesville.

Virgie E. Summers
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Virgie E. Hardsock Summers, 76, of 3347 Anthony Highway, died of heart failure Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at her home.
Born April 1, 1922, in Pond Bank, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Pearl Rock Hardsock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward "Bill" Summers, on Jan. 4, 1998. They were married Feb. 28, 1942.
Early in her life, she was employed at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa. She also did seasonal work in local orchards.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by two sisters, Violet Mae Polider of Waynesboro, Pa., and Shelvey J. Martin of Chambersburg; two brothers, Millard W. Hardsock of Chambersburg and Leo R. Hardsock of Westminster, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Sprow in 1995 and Edna Book in 1991; and two brothers, Howard Hardsock in 1992 and William Hardsock in 1996.
Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Revs. George S. Mouer Sr. and Menno Sollenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Olivia L. Bowling
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Olivia L. Bowling, 2, of 6682 Slabtown Road, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born Feb. 24, 1996, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of John P. and Sandra L. Scruggs Bowling.
She loved camping, walking, hiking and picnicking.
She was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, J. Andrew Bowling and Benjamin P. Bowling, both at home; maternal grandparents, Jerry R. and Mary Esta Shockey Scruggs of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; paternal grandfather, Joseph E. Bowling Jr. of Waynesboro; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Beryl J. Tresselt Bowling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. A wake service will be held there at 8:30 p.m.
Kelly L. Clingerman
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Kelly Leo Clingerman, 71, of Warfordsburg, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, near Amaranth, Pa.
Born Dec. 18, 1926, in Bedford County, Pa., he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary E. Smith Clingerman.
He had been employed with L.R. Smith Lumber Co., Amaranth; and Allan Williams and sons Lumber Co., Crystal Springs, Pa.
He was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church near Amaranth.
He is survived by his wife, Cora E. Decker Clingerman of Warfordsburg, whom he married April 28, 1951; a daughter, Barbara A. Fischer of Warfordsburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rintha Clingerman; and four brothers, Granville Clingerman, Herman N. Clingerman, Arnold Clingerman and William Delbert Clingerman.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Christian Church. The Revs. Delmas Bard and John Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, which will be open today from 2 to 9 p.m.; and on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

John J. Ford
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John J. "Jack" Ford, 51, of 3398 Braemar Court, died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Inova-Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.
Born April 12, 1947, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Catherine J. O'Donnell Ford of Gettysburg, Pa., and the late John Ford.
He received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa. He received both his master's and doctorate degrees from Michigan State University.
He had been employed as a professor of geography earth science at Shippensburg University for the past 24 years.
He served with the U.S. Army Reserve F.A., retiring with the rank of major.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg, Pa.
He had been active in many local community and professional organizations.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Ellie" Haney Ford, whom he married June 7, 1969; two sons, Brian J. Ford of Austin, Texas, and Timothy P. Ford of Madison, Wis.; and a sister, Carolyn Ford Shavulsky of Jefferson, Pa.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 305 N. Prince St., Shippensburg. The Revs. Thomas Hemler and Lawrence W. Sherdel will be concelebrants. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Old Main Chapel of Shippensburg University, Shippensburg.

George F. Knepper
NEW OXFORD, Pa. - George F. Knepper, 82, a resident of Cross Keys Brethren Home, and formerly of York, Pa., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at the home.
Born March 1, 1916, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John S. and Daisy Bell Barnes Knepper. He was the stepson of the late Dorothy McLaughlin Knepper.
His wife, Anna F. Fisher Knepper, died in 1952. They were married Sept. 9, 1936.
Early in life, he worked at Funk's Drugstore in Waynesboro. He became a machinist and machine operator for companies in the Waynesboro area. He then worked as a machinist for York International in York, retiring in 1980 after 34 years of service.
He was a member of York Lodge 266 AF&AM, Viking Athletic Association and Prince Athletic Association, all in York.
He is survived by a son, George E. Knepper of Dover, Pa.; a sister, June Gantz of Waynesboro; two half sisters, Mary Lou Walker of Winterhaven, Fla., and Jean Dinsmore of Harrisburg, Pa.; a half brother, Edgar M. Knepper of Wilmington, Del.; a niece, Maryann Winters Humm of Harrisburg, whom he helped to raise; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to services.

Sarah B. Turner
LANCASTER, Pa. - Sarah Brown Turner, 92, of Lancaster and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster.
Born March 16, 1906, in Clarke County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Rufus and Emma K. Russell Bell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. Turner Sr., in 1977.
She retired from Moffett's Pharmacy, Charles Town.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Margaret Spagnolo of Sun City, Calif.; a son, Raymond F. Turner Jr. of Lititz, Pa.; a sister, Edith B. Pine of Berryville, Va.; 10 grandchildren, including Raymond B. Snyder of Clifton, Va., whom she raised; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary B. Carpenter; and two brothers, Joseph A. "Dick" Bell and Ammie M. "Cap" Bell.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville. The Rev. Richard E. Neal will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town.
Margaret E. Sheffler
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Margaret E. Patterson Sheffler, 91, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, and formerly of Philadelphia Avenue, Waynesboro, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 10, 1907, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Barry and Minnie Cordell Patterson.
Her husband, Earl O. Sheffler, died in 1985. They were married in December 1941.
Early in life, she was employed by Waynesboro Laundry.
She is survived by a son, William "Barry" Brake of Waynesboro; a stepdaughter, Frances Oberry of New Orleans; three stepsons, Earl O. Sheffler Jr. of Chicago, Charles Sheffler of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Ralph Sheffler of South Mountain; a sister, Ethel Emory of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; a brother, Raymond Patterson of Kinston, N.C.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Punt; two stepdaughters, Genevieve Sanders and Katherine Burns; a stepson, Arthur Sheffler; two sisters, Marie Downin and Mary E. Reardon; and three brothers, Herman, Edward and Charles Patterson.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
