Ona L. Evans
TAMPA, Fla. - Ona Lantz Evans, 87, formerly of Portage, Chambersburg and Waynesboro, Pa., died Monday, June 8, 1998, at her daughter's home in Tampa.
Born March 9, 1911, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Cicil Woods and Bessie Reigh Mater Lantz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis F. Evans. They were married May 29, 1937.
She was a 1928 graduate of Altoona High School; and a 1930 graduate of Lockhaven Teachers College in Lockhaven, Pa.
She taught from 1930 to 1937 in the Altoona School. She then taught mostly elementary school from 1954 to 1973 in the Portage schools.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, and a former member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Portage.
She was a member of Waynesboro Senior Center, Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association, United Methodist Women, Franklin County Retired Teachers Association and AARP. She also was an active volunteer worker.
She is survived by two daughters, Marion A. Evans of Waynesboro and Louise E. DeVore of Tampa; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy H. Sourbier and Sara Kise.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Jay Zimmerman will officiate. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Lillian A. Shuman
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lillian Anna Shoemaker Shuman, 77, of 714 Clayton Ave., and a resident of Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born May 25, 1921, in Rahway, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Flora Lillian Post Shoemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Craig Shuman, in 1994. They were married Dec. 3, 1943.
She was a 1939 graduate of Waynesboro High School and a graduate of Waynesboro Business College.
She was employed by the sales department at Landis Machine Co. Before retiring in 1983, she worked in the law offices of Robert P. Shoemaker for 25 years.
She was a member of Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years and directed Junior Choir for seven years.
She was a Cub Scout den mother. She also was a member of Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, AARP and Waynesboro Historical Society.
She is survived by three children, Ruth Anna Strunk of Merritt Island, Fla., Richard Craig Shuman Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md., and Lillian Louise Shuman of Langhorne, Pa.; her twin sister, Ruth C. Cunningham of Carmel, Ind.; a brother, Elmer E. Shoemaker of Littlestown, Pa.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert P. Shoemaker.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Clara G. Swank
QUINCY, Pa. - Clara Gertrude Swank, 94, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home; and formerly of Staunton, Va., died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born March 24, 1904, in Mt. Crawford, Va., she was the daughter of the late Levi and Nettie M. Bowman Swank.
She attended Shenandoah College for three years; and later attended Lebanon College in Lebanon, Va., for three years.
She was a domestic worker and also cared for her parents.
She was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church, Dayton, Va.
She is survived by cousins.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Dayton Cemetery, Dayton.

Glenn E. Hege
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Glenn E. Hege, 62, of 2363 Sollenberger Road, was pronounced dead Sunday, June 14, 1998.
Born Nov. 26, 1935, in Peters Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar S. and Mary Ommert Hege. He was the stepson of Janet Hege of Chambersburg.
He was employed as a truck driver by Cumberland Valley Co-Op, formerly in Chambersburg, and now in Shippensburg, Pa., and previously operated a farm in the Upton, Pa., area.
He was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Upton.
In addition to his stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Carol M. Zimmerman Hege, whom he married Aug. 30, 1958; a son, Curtis L. Hege of Shippensburg; two sisters, Mary Jane Beck of Mercersburg, Pa., and Marie Eshleman of Greencastle, Pa.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

James A. Bonsky
MONT ALTO, Pa. - James A. Bonsky, 40, of 36 Creekstone Drive, died Friday, June 12, 1998, at his home.
Born May 11, 1958, in Portsmouth, Va., he was the son of William and Shirley McNulty Bonsky of Lapeer, Mich.
He was a 1976 graduate of Eisenhower High School in Washington, Mich.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981 with duty stations in Korea, Utah, Maryland, Virginia and Hawaii. He was a Gulf War veteran. Before his retirement on May 7 with the rank of staff sergeant, he received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (third award), Army Good Conduct Medal (fifth award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon II, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (third award), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Pistol Bar, Grenade Bar and Small Bore Pistol Bar. He also received the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Operator-S Bar.
He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Rochester, Mich.
He also was a member of BPOE Lodge 225 in Rochester.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Yong Sun "Yu" Bonsky, whom he married March 9, 1985; a daughter, Lynda M. Bonsky of Portage, Wis.; three sons, Jason A. Bonsky, Leonard A. Bonsky and Justin A. Bonsky, all at home; a sister, Lynda M. Mueller of Oxford, Mich.; and three brothers, William E. Bonsky of Central, S.C., Michael J. Bonsky of Virginia Beach, Va., and David A. Bonsky of Honolulu.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Helen I. Harvey
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A memorial service for Helen I. Shakley Harvey, 78, who died Sunday, March 29, 1998, in Chambersburg, will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 54 E. Corydon St., Bradford, Pa. The Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes will officiate. An informal reception will follow the service. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa., at the convenience of the family.
She is survived by a daughter, Holly Matzelle of Chambersburg; a son, Jeffrey Harvey of Denver; a sister, Eleanor Cooper of Birmingham, Ala.; two granddaughters; and a cousin.

Peter S. Fuller
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Peter S. Fuller, 57, of 1929 Blakewood Drive, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 1, 1940, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Jay Fuller of Chambersburg and the late Marie E. Dillon Fuller. He is the stepson of Eva E. Steele Fuller of Chambersburg.
He was a 1958 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was a railroad foreman in Chambersburg for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked as a driver for Roxbury Rehabilitation and Treatment Center.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.
He also was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 A.F. & A. M., Chambersburg; past commander and a member of Continental Commandry 56; a member of George Washington Royal Arch Chapter 176 of Chambersburg; and was active in local Native American powwows, and was a member of the Bear Clan of the Plains Indians, participating in many rendezvous.
In addition to his Father and stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie A. Groce Fuller; a daughter, Bridget A. Bruso of Daleville, Ala.; a son, Stephen M. Fuller of Shippensburg, Pa.; a brother, Jay M. Fuller of Atlanta, Ga.; a grandson; three nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jeffrey Fuller.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no public viewing; however, visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where a Masonic service will be conducted by members of George Washington Lodge 143 A.F. & A. M. at 12:30 p.m.

Vincent O. Shockey
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Vincent O. Shockey, 66, of 87 Minnich Road, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Rossmand R. and Mary A. Vinson Wetzell Shockey.
He was a 1949 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He was a supply systems analyst at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, retiring in 1989 after 34 years. He also delivered the Public Opinion newspaper.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church and served as its treasurer.
He also was a member of Joe Stickell Post 15 American Legion in Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Lois K. Keebaugh Shockey; three daughters, Teressa S. Minnich of Soldotna, Alaska, Darlene K. Fickes and Pamela J. Varner, both of Chambersburg; a son, James V. Shockey Sr. of Chambersburg; a sister, Elizabeth Snurr of Waynesboro; two brothers, Robert R. Shockey and Paul Shockey, both of Waynesboro; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
