Mia R. Clark

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mia Ray Clark, infant daughter of Bobby R. Clark and Jody L. Souders of 76 S. Main St., died Thursday, May 21, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

She was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Alex T. Souders and Zachary J. Souders, in 1995.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, Pa. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.

There will be no public viewing.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Holly A. Craver

BRANDON, Fla. - Holly Ann Craver, 44, of 813 E. Bloomingdale Ave., died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 23, 1953, in Williamsport, Pa., she was the daughter of Doris Mae Young Gohn of Damascus, Md., and the late Randolph Lewis Follmer.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, David A. Craver; one daughter, Somer Lynn Milley of Brandon; three sisters, Tana Follmer of Pennsylvania, Kelly Gohn of Damascus and Trina Follmer of Watsontown, Pa.; three brothers, Michael Gohn of Damascus, Teagan Follmer of Watsontown, and Randolph R. Follmer of Milton, Pa.; one grandson; and stepfather, Herman B. Gohn of Damascus.

Memorial services will be Friday at noon at Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Grounds Road, Boyds, Md. Pastor Bruce Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Dale W. Smith

HARMONY, Pa. - Dale W. Smith, 79, of 106 Longvue, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at his home.

Born July 29, 1918, in Windsor, Pa., he was the son of the late Herbert and Margaret Leiphart Smith.

He was a 1946 graduate of Elizabethtown College, Lancaster County, Pa. He received a master of science degree from Temple University, Philadelphia.

He retired in 1982 as superintendent of Seneca Valley School District. He came to Southwest Butler County School District, now Seneca Valley, in 1966. He previously had been superintendent, principal, teacher and supervising principal at districts in eastern Pennsylvania.

During World War II, he served in Europe with a U.S. Army combat engineers' battalion.

He was a member of English Lutheran Church, Zelienople, Pa.

He was a member of Zelienople Rotary Club. He was a former member of West Shore Rotary Club of Harrisburg, Pa. He also was a Shriner and a member of Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. He served on committees for the United Way and the Chamber of Commerce in the Zelienople area.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Jackson, whom he married Dec. 23, 1947; a daughter, Willa Kay Bowers of Hagerstown; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at English Lutheran Church, Zelienople. The Rev. Robert Keplinger, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Windsor Union Cemetery, York, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

Memorial donations may be made to Rotary Foundation, Zelienople, Pa. 16063; or English Lutheran Church, Zelienople, Pa. 16063.

Goldie B. Reichard

SHADY GROVE, Pa. - Goldie B. Reichard, 81, of 1915 Buchanan Trail East, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa., of injuries from an automobile accident in Guilford Township, Pa.

Born May 22, 1917, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David Irvin Brookens and Ina Ellen Eckenrode Brookens Smith.

She received her GED in 1984 through the Waynesboro School District.

A local artist, she studied under artists Godfrey Beal, Lelia Hawbaker, Al Brule, Clyde Roberts, Pat Newroth Ostrasky and Betty Kaytes. She taught a class of 13 students for 10 years and also taught a local paraplegic artist for 20 years.

She and her husband enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for 19 years.

She was a life member of Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church near Chambersburg, Pa., where she was a member of Adult Sunday School Bible Class and taught in Junior Sunday School Class for 20 years. She was a member of Wednesday Morning Bible Study of the church.

She was a member of Waynesboro Heart Club; Waynesboro AARP; and a life member of Studio Club.

She is survived by her husband, David E. Reichard, whom she married June 1, 1935; one daughter, Ina Shreiner of Chambersburg; one grandson, Curtis L. Shreiner of St. Thomas, Pa.; one granddaughter, Amy Mata of Savannah, Ga.; and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, James Blaze Smith; and one brother, Arthur Brookens.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Michael Allwein and the Rev. Elizabeth R. Brookens Sturman will officiate. Burial will be in Grindstone Hill Cemetery near Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Building Fund of Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Michael C. Rossman Sr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Michael C. Rossman Sr., 38, of 457 E. Washington St., died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at his home.

Born June 29, 1959, in Lansing, Mich., he was the son of the late William M. and Nancy J. Cheney Rossman.

He was a 1977 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

He was employed with Mott's Inc. in Aspers, Pa. for three years. He previously had been employed at the former Borden's Inc., Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Rossman, whom he married July 19, 1980; one daughter, Nicole Sherrie Rossman at home; one son, Michael C. Rossman Jr. at home; two brothers, William "Bill" Rossman of New Britian, Pa., and Todd Rossman of Battle Creek, Mich.; and maternal grandmother, Dorothy Burns of Lake Wales, Fla.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Richard A. Randall will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jay F. Schetrompf

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Jay F. Schetrompf, 61, a resident of Fulton County Medical Center Skilled Care Unit, and formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at the skilled care unit.

Born March 15, 1937, in Warfordsburg, he was the son of Janet H. Ward Schetrompf of Warfordsburg and the late James R. Schetrompf.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Sheeder Schetrompf, whom he married June 22, 1958; one daughter, Marcya J. Schetrompf of Warfordsburg; one son, Jayme F. Schetrompf of Warfordsburg; three sisters, Marlene Mohn of Shippensburg, Pa., Nancy Fox of Warfordsburg, and Margaret Carnell of Needmore, Pa.; two brothers, Gerald R. Schetrompf and John A. Schetrompf, both of Needmore; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Buck Valley Methodist Church in Warfordsburg. The Rev. William Peters and the Rev. Sam Stoey will officiate. Burial will be in Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday. The funeral home will be open from noon to 9 p.m. today.

Dean E. King

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dean E. King, 70, of 1064 Westgate Drive, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.

Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Orbisonia, Pa., he was the son of the late Elmer and Grace Whitsel King.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy A. Rosensteel King, in 1991.

He retired in 1990 as an insurance salesman. He had been employed by Washington National Insurance Co., American General Insurance Co. and Consumer's Insurance Co.

He was a member of New Franklin Assembly of God Church, Chambersburg, had served as a church deacon and on the church board.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Bard King, whom he married in January 1992; one daughter, Vickie Bailey of Fayetteville, Pa.; three sons, Robert D. King of Warrenton, Va., John King of Chambersburg and Steven C. King of Tallahassee, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Delores Eyer of Chambersburg and Wavalene Bard of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one stepson, Dallas Bard of Needmore, Pa.; two sisters, Betty Hershey of Harrisonville, Pa., and Shirley Brown of Mount Union, Pa.; two brothers, Kenneth King and Donald King, both of Mount Union; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Sean A. Hinton and the Rev. Wilbur Benner will officiate. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Pa.

The viewing will be Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Tori A. Berkey

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Tori Alyssa Berkey, infant daughter of Richard "Rick" D. and Emma Pearson Berkey Jr., of 51-A Eastern Ave., was stillborn Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Taylor A. Berkey at home; maternal grandmother, Tessa M. Pearson of London, England; paternal grandparents, the Rev. Richard D. and Linda K. Berkey Sr. of Greencastle; paternal grandparents, Frank and Delores M. Waddell Sarka of St. Michael, Pa.; paternal great-grandfather, Wade A. Berkey of Johnstown, Pa.; and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Andrew Pearson; great-grandmother, Madeline Allison Berkey; and an uncle, Frank Wade.

Services will be today in Johnstown, Pa. The Rev. Rodger D. Berkey will officiate.

Arrangements by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home are incomplete.

Charles A.L. Brauss

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Charles A.L. Brauss, 73, of 14978 Buena Vista Road, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 8, 1924, in Bethlehem, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles O. and Mary E. Anthony Brauss.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy F. Busch Brauss, in 1992. They were married Feb. 23, 1946.

He was a 1941 graduate of Allentown High School. He also attended college for two years while he was in the military.

After high school he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He then joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1971 after 26 years of service. He received a number of Bronze Stars and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, among other honors.

Later he worked for Otis Co., a petroleum drilling company in Louisiana.

He was a member of Cascade American Legion Post 239.

He is survived by two  daughters, Linda A. Ruh of Beaverton, Ore., and Bonnie J. Updegraff of Cascade; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. Chaplain William A. Robertson will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hulda S. Baer

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Hulda S. Baer, of 441 Fairview Ave., died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at her home.

Born in Mont Alto, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Abraham L. and Anne Wile Staley.

She had been a member of First Christian Church of Waynesboro before it closed.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Baer, whom she married June 14, 1937; two sons, John Baer and Donald Baer, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Margaret Hollenberry of Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa.; and a grandson.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Quincy.

Arrangements are by Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc. in Waynesboro.

Evelyn M. Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Evelyn M. Sheffler Wilson, 91, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home in Chambersburg, and formerly of 102 Hillcrest Ave. and Trinity House, both in Waynesboro, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 4, 1906, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Daisy Zentmyer Sheffler.

Her husband, Charles E. Wilson, died in 1955. They were married April 29, 1926.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

She was a life member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Auxiliary in Waynesboro.

She is survived by four  daughters, Shirley L. Houser of Willingboro, N.J., Mary Jane Lasher of Waynesboro, Virginia L. Monn of Chambersburg and Diane Harbaugh of Cascade; three sons, Edward C. Wilson of Gurley, Ala., Fred W. Wilson of Key West, Fla., and James M. Wilson of Seattle; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty I. Wilson; two sisters, Flora E. Sheffler and Mary R. Rock; and two brothers, Earl O. Sheffler and Paul Sheffler.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
