Brenton Snyder
HERNDON, Pa. - Brenton "Mick" Snyder, 46, of R.R. 1, died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1951, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Hilda Stone Snyder of Hagerstown and the late Clarence Snyder.
He was a rail inspector and shipper with Bethlehem Steel Co., Steelton, Pa.
A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.
He attended Grace Community Church.
He was a member of Fiddlers Run Sportsman Club and Local 1688 of Steel Workers Union, Steelton.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jean Hoch Snyder; five sons, Brenton Snyder Jr. of Hagerstown, Elwood Heintzelman of Dornsife, Pa., Mark Heintzelman of Millersburg, Pa., and Glenn Heintzelman and James Heintzelman, both of Herndon; three sisters, Clarceena Martin, Eva Eichenberger and Debra Snyder, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, Gerald Snyder and Jeffrey Snyder, both of Hagerstown; 15 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dale Heintzelman.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church, Herndon. The Rev. James B. Banks will officiate. Burial will be in Himmels Church Cemetery, Rebuck, Pa.
Viewing will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Charles Russell Baker, 82, of 26 E. Baltimore St., who died Sunday, May 10, 1998, was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Virginia Baker.
Mark M. Funk
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mark M. Funk, 84, of 291 Mill Street, Fort Loudon, Pa., died Monday, May 11, 1998 at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born Dec. 25, 1913, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John W. and Irene Spies Funk.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive "Grace" Byers Funk; and by his second wife, Florence M. Snyder Funk, in 1997.
He had retired from E.D. Plummer and sons as a construction foreman after 33 years. During World War II he worked at Edgewood Arsenal near Bethesda, Md. He then worked on the atomic bomb at DuPont's Tennessee plant. He worked at Fairfield Ship Yards in Baltimore and Glen L. Martin's Construction Co. of Baltimore.
He was a member of the Charlestown United Methodist Church in Mercersburg.
He was a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas, Pa.
He is survived by one daughter, Lucille Gossert of Romney, W.Va.; five stepsons, Clifford G. Hughes of Coriapolis, Pa., Frank A. Hughes and Kenneth D. Hughes of Glen Burnie, Md., Clair G. Hughes of St. Thomas, Pa., and Ronald L. Hughes of Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Patricia A Eutzy of York, Pa.; three sisters, Bertha Barwick of Montrose, Pa., and Doris Ward and Cora Straley both of Mercersburg; two brothers, Wallace Funk of Welsh Run, Pa., and John Funk Jr. of Waynesboro, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Don Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

David M. Saylor
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - David M. Saylor, 47, of 3052 Cook Road, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at his home.
Born May 24, 1950, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late James and Katherine Miller Saylor.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and attended Hagerstown Business College.
He was a mechanic with Roadway Express Inc. in Carlisle, Pa. He previously was employed by PIE Nationwide Trucking in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Greenvillage Church of God near Chambersburg, Pa., and the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class. He had served as an usher and trustee and as treasurer of the Missionary Society.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan L. Cook Saylor; two sons, William Ryan Saylor of Chambersburg and Wade Saylor, at home; two sisters, Ruanna Hess and Brenda Kish, both of Martinsburg; two brothers, James Loring Saylor and Glenville Saylor, both of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Saylor.
Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Ronald E. Dull will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be no viewing.

Robert H. Maloy
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Robert H. Maloy, 76, of 6341 Quail Circle, and formerly of Redding, Conn., died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born July 23, 1921, in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mabel E. Love Maloy.
He was a graduate of LaSalle Military Academy of Long Island, N.Y., and attended Manhattan College in New York City for four years.
He was part-owner of the family-owned Bertschmann and Maloy Insurance Agency in Manhattan and the Maloy Agency, Staten Island, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he worked for five years in the accounting department of Pope John Paul II Center of Health Care, Danbury, Conn.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard and was a graduate of New London Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Waynesboro, Pa. He was a former member of both Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Georgetown, Conn., and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Redding.
He had served as treasurer of Mark Twain Library in Redding. He enjoyed boating and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Agnes E. Everett Maloy; a daughter, Catherine M. Maloy of Ridgefield, Conn.; a son, Steven R. Maloy of Danvers, Mass.; a sister, Mabel J. Randall; two brothers, Edward J. Maloy II and John F. Maloy, both of Staten Island; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Maloy and Michael Maloy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Redding. Monsignor John B. Hossan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. A Christian wake service will be conducted Saturday at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Thomas J. Hemier.

Mary Jane Matteson
GREENSBURG, Pa. - Mary Jane Matteson, 61, of Greensburg, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, in Greensburg.
Born May 19, 1936, in Fairplay, she was the daughter of Nora Emmert Eakle of Latrobe, Pa., and the late Donovan Eakle.
She was a member of Jeannette (Pa.) Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Laura Peters; and two grandsons, Ryan Alan Peters and Corey Lee Peters.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce E. Matteson.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Elva Mae Horst
HARRISONVILLE, Pa. - Elva Mae Horst, 64, of R.D. 1, Box 752, formerly of 2004 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1934, in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Marvin B. and Lucy Ellen Peck Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Horst, in 1996.
She cleaned houses.
She attended McConnellsburg Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg, Pa.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of McConnellsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her first husband, Wilbert O. Keefer of McConnellsburg; two daughters, Darlene Gress of McConnellsburg and Gaye Alene Deshong of Annville, Pa.; five sons, Donald O. Keefer, Thomas E. Keefer, Edward J. Keefer, Ronald L. Keefer and Robert L. Keefer, all of McConnellsburg; a sister, Regina Peck of McConnellsburg; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McConnellsburg Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.
Brush S. Winans
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Brush S. Winans, 93, a resident of Piney Mountain Nursing Home, Fayetteville, and formerly of Greene, N.Y., died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born June 5, 1904, in Amenia, N.Y., he was the son of the late Sutherland B. and Amanda Conklin Winans.
He graduated from Pine Plaino High School in Amenia. He attended the former Bliss Electrical Engineering School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lea N. Lewis Winans, in 1988. They were married March 23, 1936.
He was retired from New York State Electric and Gas after 35 years as an electrical engineer. Later he operated the H&R Block tax preparation office in Greene.
He was a Presbyterian.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy W. Neidzielski of Leitersburg and Marta E. Vincent of Melrose Park, Ill.; six grandsons, three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hunting C. Winans.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Robert S. Edmundson will officiate.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 18, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton, N.Y.

Isaac R. Timmons
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Isaac Ray Timmons, infant son of Douglas R. and Denise K. Wolff Timmons of 800 Pensinger Road, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, from a congenital heart defect.
He was born May 8, 1998, in Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, RaeAnna M. Timmons, at home; one brother, Channing D. Timmons, at home; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Joanne Timmons of Greencastle; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Ada Wolff of Greencastle; maternal great-grandparents, Lewis and Mary Hummer of Greencastle; and aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
There will be no viewing.
