H. James Pearson
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Rev. H. James Pearson, 80, of 419 N. Church St., died of a heart attack Monday, April 13, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1917, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry A. and Suzannah Dagherty Pearson.
He was a 1936 graduate of Franklin High School, Franklin, Pa.
He worked in steel mills in Johnstown; as an insurance agent for New York Life. He was a part-time minister at Church of the Brethren in Nanty Glo, Pa. In 1959, he became a full-time pastor at Snake Spring Valley Church of the Brethren in Everett, Pa. In 1962, he became minister at Rouzerville Church of the Brethren.
After retiring from the ministry in 1966, he worked as a youth supervisor at the Victor Cullen Center in Sabillasville, Md. He later was a bill collector for Citizens National Bank of Waynesboro and was last employed by the office of the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Waynesboro; and the Waynesboro Ministerium.
He was a former member and president of Waynesboro Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Gossard Pearson, whom he married July 14, 1939; two daughters, Karen J. Christman of Mont Alto, Pa., and Winifred LaRue Bouchelle of New Market, Va.; one son, L. Roger Pearson of Clear Spring; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kent J. Pearson; one sister, Sara Miller; and one half brother, William Pearson.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Clinton F. Bingaman and the Rev. Roger K. Myers will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. The Rev. H. Don Rough will officiate.

Mabel E. Stouffer
QUINCY, Pa. - Services for Mabel E. Stouffer, 84, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of Michaux Manor Living Center, Fayetteville, Pa., and 104 S. Allison St., Greencastle, Pa., who died Sunday, April 12, 1998, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Hades Church of the Brethren, Hades Church Road, Waynesboro. Elders Dean Gearhart, George Martin and Don Clapper will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle; and Thursday one hour prior to service at the church.
Frank E. Hann
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Frank Edward Hann, 74, of HCR 80 Ravensburg Road in McConnellsburg, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at his home.
Born July 28, 1923, in Websters Mills, Pa., he was the son of the late Rush David Hann and Adelina Kuhn Hann.
He was a retired machinist for Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa.
He was a member of the Corner Church of the Brethren, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Anna B. Adelsberger Hann, whom he married in 1956; one daughter, Judy Esque of McConnellsburg; four sisters, Cleo Keefer of Big Cove Tannery; Lois Leevy of Chambersburg, Pa.; Jessie Fix and Arlene Kendall, both of McConnellsburg; three brothers, Blair Hann of Big Cove Tannery; John Hann of McConnellsburg; and Chalmer Hann of St. Thomas, Pa.; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Free Brethren Church in Websters Mills. The Rev. William Garland and the Rev. Chalmer Hann will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa., and one hour before the service at the church.
Lillian A. Langham
LEWISTOWN, Pa. - Lillian A. Langham, 78, of Lewistown and formerly of Burgard Apartments and Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown.
Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Millerstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Bessie E. Reigle Parsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard P. Langham, in 1996.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown.
She is survived by her foster daughter, Judy Statler of St. Thomas, Pa.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two nieces, Betty Pry of Lewistown and Helen Smith of Lynchburg, Va.; and one nephew, Otis Stever of Millerstown, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown. The Rev. Roger R. Reece will officiate. Burial will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
The viewing will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

James E. Strang
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - James Edgar Strang, 77, of 4555 Coldsprings Road, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1921, in South Mountain, Pa., he was the son of the late James Edward and May A. Wagaman Strang.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.
He was employed in his early life as a forest warden for the department of forestry. Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 32 years as a warehouseman.
He was a member of Adams County Fish and Game Association; and National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie Knouse Strang, whom he married Oct. 11, 1954; one daughter, Laura V. Stine of South Mountain; two sons, Rusty E. Strang and Michael L. Strang, both of South Mountain; two sisters, Kathleen Kauffman and Gloria Grove, both of South Mountain; one brother, Harry Strang of South Mountain; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Claudine Bakner, Hubert Strang, Kenneth Strang, Denton Strang; and three infants.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. David L. Keener will officiate. Burial will be in Strang Cemetery, South Mountain.

Christopher S. Richardson
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Christopher S. "Chris" Richardson, 10, of 8875 Monn's Gap Road, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa., the result of a truck and bike accident near his home.
Born Oct. 30, 1987, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Robert W. Richardson Jr. and Tina M. Welsh, both of Waynesboro.
He was a fourth-grade student at Fairview Elementary School, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Fairview Chapel Church, Tomstown, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Amanda S. Richardson, at home; one brother, Robert W. Richardson III, at home; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Freeman of Waynesboro; paternal grandparents, Robert W. and Mary Jo Richardson Sr. of Zullinger, Pa.; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Wayne L. Kuhns will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edwin H. Frehn
HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Edwin H. "Jake" Frehn, 56, of Hustontown, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born May 6, 1941, in Springfield Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles O. and Goldie Fraker Frehn.
He is survived by a niece, Shirley D. Snyder of Hustontown, with whom he lived for the past 12 years; and two sisters, Anna Shore of Fort Littleton, Pa., and Marcella Trego of Newark, Del.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Frehn and Harry Frehn.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown.
There will be no public viewing.
Friends may call Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ethel C. Vaughn
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Ethel Catherine Bowders Vaughn, 77, of 145 W. North St., died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa.
Born June 8, 1920, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roy Herman and Lula Louise Stains Bowders.
She attended State Line schools.
She was employed as a press operator at Wayne Sportsware in Waynesboro, from 1950 to 1960, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Antrim Assembly of God Church in Greencastle, Pa. She and her husband served in lay ministry at Potomac District Camp Grounds in Marlowe, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce J. Vaughn, whom she married March 13, 1937; one son, Robert A. Vaughn of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Annabelle Salisbury and Thelma May Cline, both of Waynesboro, and Frances Geraldine Zeger of Shady Grove, Pa.; four grandchildren, including grandson, Gary L. Vaughn, who was raised in her home; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Marie Vaughn Ibex; and one sister, Doris Leona Bowders.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Antrim Assembly of God Church, 11192 Bemisderfer Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Rodger D. Berkey will officiate. Burial will be in Beautiful View Cemetery in State Line.
The family will receive friends at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, today from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Connie M. Rockwell
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Connie M. Rockwell, 70, of 3768 Lemar Road, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Nov. 19, 1927, in Markes, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dayton and Catherine Heinbaugh Mellott.
She had been employed by the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, Pa. She retired in 1987, after 42 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg.
She was a member of the auxiliaries of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both of Mercersburg.
She was a tutor for Franklin County Literacy Council. She also was a member of Amalgamated Clotheriers Union.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith C. Trego of Chambersburg; a son, Paul D. Rockwell of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Catherine Trego of Chambersburg; one aunt; and her former husband, John W. Rockwell of Chambersburg.
She was preceded in death by one sister, and one brother.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Samuel L. Sheffler will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
The viewing will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
