McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Rebecca L. Straley, 17, of Woodside Drive, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the home of her uncle, Roger Lee Hornbaker, McConnellsburg.
Born Aug. 31, 1980, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Cindy L. Hornbaker Straley of McConnellsburg and John W. Straley Sr. of Greencastle, Pa.
She was a junior at Central Fulton High School, McConnellsburg. She was enrolled in the nursing assistant program at the Fulton County Vo-Tech School. She had planned to pursue a career in nursing. She was manager of Lady Spartan basketball team.
She attended Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg.
In addition to her parents and uncle, she is survived by a sister, Sarah E. Straley of McConnellsburg; two stepsisters, Candy Straley Orris of Dillsburg, Pa., and Crystal Straley of Ocean City, Md.; a stepbrother, John W. Straley Jr. of Dover, Pa.; and maternal grandmother, Phyllis L. Hornbaker of McConnellsburg.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evangel Assembly of God Church, West Maple Street, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Belvy C. White will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.
Visitation will be at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Mary V. Spiker
EVERETT, Pa. - Mary V. Spiker, 76, of Everett, formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at PennKnoll Village, Everett.
Born May 19, 1921, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Benson and Francie Plessinger Akers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Spiker, in 1958.
She was employed by Sagner's Sewing Factory, McConnellsburg, Pa., and Park N' Dine in Hancock.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg.
She is survived by a sister, Mabel Rohm of Warfordsburg; a niece and a nephew.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Whips Cove United Church of Christ, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Delmas Bard and the Rev. Jerry Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Warfordsburg.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa., and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
Robert R. Stains
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Robert R. Stains, 63, of 115 N. Church St., died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born July 5, 1934, in Waterfall, Pa., he was the son of Romaine A. Cutchall Carbaugh of Chambersburg and the late Robert J. Stains.
He was employed in maintenance by Swiss Cleaning Limited, contracted at Scotland School for Veterans Children, for 10 years. He retired in 1997.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Freedom in Christ Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Audrey L. Bowser Stains, whom he married on June 30, 1962; five daughters, twins Darlene L. Quivers and Debbie S. Webb, both of Chambersburg, Laurie A. Weyant of Shippensburg, Pa., Bobbie E. Thomas of Chambersburg and Dixie J. Heim of Hanover, Pa.; a son, Charles R. Stains of Fayetteville, Pa.; a sister, Judy M. Pike of Chambersburg; a brother, Larry W. Stains of Chambersburg; three stepbrothers, Robert C. Carbaugh of Chambersburg, Norman Thrush and Terry Thrush, both of Cambria, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles A. Carbaugh; a stepbrother and a stepsister.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George R. Pogue Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the service. Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842 will conduct a service Wednesday at the funeral home at 8 p.m.

Violet A. Bartlett
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Violet A. Bartlett, 75, of 553 Pennsinger Road, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Oct. 31, 1922, in South Mountain, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Minnie Rider Kauffman.
She attended schools in the South Mountain area.
She was a homemaker.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Bartlett, whom she married May 31, 1965; two daughters, Sandra Powell Garling of Waynesboro and Diana Powell Bigler of Hagerstown; four sisters, Hazel Loy Loudenslager of Quincy, Pa., Ada Beck Ulrich of Fayetteville, Pa., Mary Kauffman Carbaugh of Waynesboro and Joan Miller of Nags Head, N.C.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Schaeffer and Mildred Powell; and a brother, Rennis Kauffman.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. Gerald Carbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Albert E. Crone
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Albert Eugene "Sonny" Crone, 63, of 144 Brown St., died of a heart attack Monday, March 30, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1934, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Sallie Reicard Crone of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa. and the late Robert Crone.
He attended Monterey Schools.
He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Combat Engineers.
He was employed by Wayne Tool Co., Waynesboro, as a machine operator for the past 34 years.
He was a member of Calvary Chapel Episcopal Church, Beartown, Pa.; and attended Calvary Assembly of God Church of Waynesboro.
He was head steward for International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union AFL-CIO District Lodge 98.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet Dull Crone, whom he married Aug. 21, 1954; one sister, Patsy Honodel of Waynesboro; one niece and three great-nieces.
Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 116 Snider Ave., Waynesboro. Pastor Dwan N. Newsome and Pastor Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Raymond O. Butts
ZULLINGER, Pa. - Raymond O. Butts, 80, of Mountain View Trailer Court, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 2, 1917, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Taylor and Dorothy Butts.
He attended Waynesboro area schools.
He retired in 1972 from Landis Tool Co., where he had worked as a painter. Prior to that he had worked for Frick Co.; Fairchild Aviation; Bob Embly Welding; and Colonial Hardware in Waynesboro. In retirement he worked for Andy's Antiques.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Eastern Service Medal with two bronze service stars.
He was a member of American Legion, Joe Steckle Post 15; VFW John McLaughlin Post; Eagles Club, Waynesboro; and ATH & L Fire Co. 1.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Butts of Greencastle, Pa.; a son, Samuel Butts of Greencastle; two sisters, Lorretta Fleagle of Rouzerville, Pa., and Ester Bowers of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Zentmyer and Gladys Staley; and two brothers, Norman Butts and Melvin Butts.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home, corners of South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Frank P. Reasner
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Frank P. "Phil" Reasner, 73, of 222 Joyce Drive, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 8, 1924, in Greene Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Ralph and Bertha McClure Reasner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva R. McNew Reasner, in 1992.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a glider pilot on the D-Day invasion and received the purple heart and two bronze stars.
He was employed by LEAD at Rocky Spring Golf Course as greenskeeper for 12 years; he was last employed by Chambersburg Area School District, retiring in 1982.
He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fayetteville.
He was a life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; a member of Loyal Order of Moose 842; AMVETS Post 224; Landis-McLeaf Detachment Marine Corps League; and a life charter member of Fayetteville Fire Co.
He is survived by two daughters, Sue McNew of Camden, Del., and Penny Kauffman of Fayetteville; two sons, Jeffrey G. Reasner of Shippensburg, Pa. and P. Ralph Reasner of Chambersburg; seven sisters, Helen Gerhold, Frances Horne and Dorothy Reasner, all of Fayetteville, Margaret Schaal of Laurel, Md., Grace Trimmer and Faye Staley of Gettysburg, Pa., and Sarah Reeser, of Shippensburg; five brothers, Lindsey Reasner, Richard Reasner and Carl Reasner, all of Fayetteville, Glenn Reasner of Chambersburg, and Ralph Reasner of Visalia, Calif.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, with graveside military honors conducted by members of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Orville J. Crumbacker
ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Orville Junior Crumbacker, 72, of 6299 Nugget Way, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 28, 1925, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Orville Koons and Lillian Cordell Crumbacker.
He attended Waynesboro schools.
He served with the U.S. Navy as a petty officer third class in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was employed as a carpenter at Frank Barnes of Hagerstown; then worked for Callas Contractors of Hagerstown for 18 years as a carpenter; and Landis Tool Co. of Waynesboro, retiring in 1988 after 10 years.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Greencastle, Pa.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 32 of Waynesboro and national AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Turner Crumbacker, whom he married June 22, 1974; his first wife, Emma Deloris McKean Crumbacker; three daughters, Brenda J. Thompson of Hagerstown, Judy A. Woodward of Mercersburg, Pa., and Karen M. Talhelm of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Gary L. Crumbacker of Greencastle and Gregory W. Crumbacker of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Kenneth W. Snodderly of Hagerstown and Wayne E. Snodderly of Mechanicsville, Md.; two sisters, Margaret Freeman of Waynesboro and Jackie Kline of Waynesboro; a brother, Robert Crumbacker of Zullinger, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle. Pastor J. Herman Fisler will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
