Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

DONALD H. ROBOSKY

Donald H. Robosky, 60, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born in Forbes Road, Nov. 24, 1939, and was a son of the late John and Edna Altman Robosky. He had been self-employed for years in the flooring business and was Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters , Edna Stevenson, Betty Thompson, Audrey Elder, Gladys Bullis, Barbara Page, Mariam Sanderson, William, John, Richard and Ronald Robosky. Don is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Donald H. Robosky Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Irwin, Lisa Shuey and her husband, Lou, of Derry and John Robosky and his wife, Vickie, of Greensburg; his two sisters , Margaret Semenko of Forbes Road and Linda Barrick of New York; and the following grandchildren: Donald Robosky III, Tyler Shuey, Ranae Shuey, Kassi Robosky, Jenna Robosky, Rik Edmunds and Tiffany Edmunds. Family and friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin J. Fromm officiating. The family wishes memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 615 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601.

LENORA A. (PINAZZA) RUSBARSKY

Lenora A. (Pinazza) Rusbarsky, of Akron, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in her home in Ohio. She was born in Pleasant Valley, a daughter of the late Louis and Helen Farlen Pinazza, and lived in the Akron, Ohio, area for the past 35 years. Prior to retirement, she worked for Taldine Monarch in Ohio, and was a member of the Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church in Akron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rusbarsky, in 1999; and a sister, Norene Pinazza. She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia and husband, Miles Siedow, of Arizona; three brothers , Louis and wife, Marty Pinazza, of Akron, Ohio, Tony Pinazza of Trafford and Larry Pinazza of Florida; and four sisters , Dora and husband, Frank Brandt, of Ohio, Helen Caruso of Trafford, Almeda and husband, Joseph Simola, of Level Green and Lorinda Wodnick of New York. Friends will be received at the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME, 429 Duquesne Ave., Trafford, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Barbara Church, Harrison City, with Father V. Paul Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

WESLEY A. STIFFEY

Wesley A. Stiffey, 57, of Pitcairn, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000. Husband of Charlene (Slepsky) Stiffey; Father of Rebecca L., Timothy M. and James C. Stiffey; and brother of Jane West, Jean Kelly, Shirley Higgins, Hazel Poth, Janet Hall, Lena Warr, Alma Stipcak, Francis "Dewey" Stiffey, Wayne Stiffey and William Stiffey. Friends received Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

EDITH LOUISE WALKER

Edith Louise Walker, of Ross Township, on Wednesday, June 28, 2000, who recently celebrated her 89th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Wilson H. Walker; and mother of Sandra Russ Brugger of Cleveland, Ohio. Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME INC., 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, (412) 367-3100. Funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Simons Funeral Home. Mrs. Walker was appreciated for her kind and loving nature. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

DOROTHY MAXWELL AXEL
Dorothy Maxwell Axel, 73, of Smithton, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born June 5, 1927, in Meigs, Ga., a daughter of the late Harvey and Ethel Maxwell of Monticello, Ga. She was a member of the Hope Memorial Lutheran Church of Smithton. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and a charter and life member of the Lt. Wayne F. Forsythe Post 790 Ladies Auxiliary of Smithton. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary most of her adult life, serving as a past president of the Westmoreland County council and district president of Westmoreland County. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold Axel Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Nancy Axel, and two grandchildren, Mark and Marisa Axel, all of Smithton. She is also survived by a sister, Betty J. Maxwell of Monticello, Ga. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the L.L. BARTHELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Second Street, Smithton. Funeral services will be held Monday in the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Pittavino officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Memorial Lutheran Church or the Arthritis Foundation.

DOROTHY M. BOYLE

Dorothy M. Boyle, 75, of West View, on Thursday, June 29, 2000. Sister of Jack Pierce, formerly of Pittsburgh, now of Dade City, Fla. aunt of George Wochley of Franklin Park, Peggy Wulff of Butler, Brian Pierce of Carnegie and Lori Pierce of Ross Township. Also survived by her cousin, Margaret "Peg" Sterling of Zelienople, two great-nieces and two great-nephews. Dorothy Boyle was a great friend to many. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Perrysville, where funeral service will be held Monday 10 a.m. Interment Allegheny County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be offered to the American Lung Association of Pennsylvania .

ESTELLA E. FORSHA

Estella E. Forsha, 90, of Latrobe, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at her home. She was born May 19, 1910, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Hughes Marks. She was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Latrobe, and was its past financial secretary for more than 30 years. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Forsha Sr.; two sons , Ronald W. Forsha Sr. and Walter E. Forsha Jr.; a daughter, Betty June Buncie; a grandson, Walter E. Forsha III; and a granddaughter, Brenda Verneau. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy J. Verneau and her husband, Wilford, of Harlem, Ga.; a son-in-law, Donald Buncie of Jeannette; two daughters -in-law, Dolores J. Forsha of Ligonier and Cheryl L. Forsha of Dawson; a sister, Nina King of Latrobe; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. William E. Ordelt officiating. Interment Coles Cemetery, Derry.

ANNA SIMS McGREW

Anna Sims McGrew, 86, of West Newton, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 21, 1913, in West Newton, a daughter of the late Anton and Margaret Siska Sims. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in West Newton, the SNPJ Lodge 64 of Collinsburg, the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 278 of West Newton, and the Auxiliary Catholic War Veterans Post 1669 of Uniontown. She had worked at the Standard Fusee in West Newton and Christy Park in McKeesport, prior to her marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. McGrew; three brothers , Joseph Sims, Anthony Sims Jr. and William Sims Sr.; and three sisters , Agnes Sims, Mary Sims Thorne and Angeline Sims Beadling. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and several cousins. Friends will be received at the RICHARD F. DODSON FUNERAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John Regoli as celebrant. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Second Street, West Newton.

ANNA OLINICK PETRAS

Anna Olinick Petras, 91, of Braddock Hills, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000. She was born Feb. 5, 1909, to Maria Kaczak and Onuphruis Olinick. Wife of the late George Petras; mother of George Petras, Shirley A. Skrabski, Mary M. Skutski and the late Donald Petras; sister of Mary Copeland, Sue Grazulewicz, Julia Janodowski, Helen Warso, Michael Olinick, John Takarchek, Peter Takarchek and the late Katie Forosisky, Charles and Frank Olinick; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the RONALD V. LUCAS FUNERAL HOME, corner of Bell and Jones avenues, North Braddock, (412) 271-1361, where a blessing service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.

EVALYN (SWEDIE) PREMRU

Evalyn (Swedie) Premru, 88, a resident of Bakerstown for 50 years, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Richland Township. Born in Pittsburgh, July 4, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Roman) Swedie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eugene F. Premru, in May of 1998; and a sister. Survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. Friends received Sunday from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. The Rev. Donn Ed will officiate. Interment in Bakerstown Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hosanna Industries, 109 Rinard Lane, Rochester, PA 15074; First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8, Bakerstown, PA 15007; or Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, DeSoto Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

JANE F. SPRINGER

Jane F. Springer, 102, of Ligonier, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier Township. She was born March 3, 1898, in Ligonier Township, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Fowler. Prior to her retirement, Jane had taught school in the Ligonier Valley and in Unity Township. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ligonier. Jane was deeply loved by her sons and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Springer, in 1960; a son, James E. Springer; and nine brothers and sisters . She is survived by two sons , Robert B. "Bob" (and wife, Viola) Springer of Rector and Gene Springer of Latrobe RD4; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will be held in the funeral chapel Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul D. Poerschke officiating. Interment in Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier.

DONALD J. BAKER
Donald J. Baker, 13, a nine-year resident of Erie, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, in the Hamet Medical Center, Erie. He was born July 6, 1986, in Indiana, Pa., a son of Donald A. Baker of McIntyre, and Denise M. Chronoski Baker of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister and two brothers , Miranda Joy Baker, Benjamin Allen Baker and Brady Roy Baker, all of Greensburg; a close friend, Kim Wright of Greensburg; his maternal grandparents, Jake and Patsy Chronoski of McIntyre; and his paternal grandparents, Roy and Thelma Baker of Tunnelton. Friends will be received Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lota Jones officiating. Interment Iselin Union Cemetery, Iselin.

MARY ANN BALLEW, Sharpsburg
Mary Ann Ballew, 60, died Friday, June 28, 2000, in Mercy Providence Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Dec. 21, 1939, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Sponsel Kastory.
For more than 25 years, Mrs. Ballew served on the board of directors for the Center in Sharpsburg.
Survivors include two daughters , Veronica Parison of Natrona Heights and Brenda L. Ballew of Sharpsburg; three sons , Alan D. Ballew, James B. Ballew and Robert J. Ballew, all of Sharpsburg; and a sister, Helen Fritz of Sharpsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Ballew Sr.; a sister, Clara Gurtner; and a brother, Thomas Kastory.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until funeral services at 8 p.m. Monday in Worrell Funeral Home, Main and Ninth streets, Sharpsburg.
