FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Charles J. McCleary, 80, of 60 Dymond Ave., died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Caledonia Manor, Guilford Township, Pa.
Born Dec. 10, 1917, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles N. and Mary Diehl McCleary.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He worked as an ammunition handler for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. Previously, he worked as a truck driver.
He was a member of Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, Chambersburg; and a life member of Junior Fire Co., Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Banks McCleary, whom he married Dec. 11, 1948; one daughter, Twila Rhine of Shippensburg; one son, Robert C. McCleary of Fayetteville; one foster son, Richard Smith of Florida; two sisters, Mildred Linninger of Shippensburg and Dorthy McGuire of Duncannon, Pa.; two brothers, Earl McCleary of Dillsburg, Pa., and Norman "Bunk" McCleary of Chambersburg; three grandsons; two foster grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three stepmothers; and three sisters.
Services will be Monday, March 23, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Bishop Rodger F. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leroy M. Bussard
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Leroy M. Bussard, 62, of Williamsport Pike, who died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Bussard, in 1995.
Lydia S. Fogal
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lydia S. Fogal, 90, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.
Born March 23, 1907, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Florence E. Cromwell Lower.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fogal.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one brother, John W. Lower Jr. of Chambersburg; and one sister, Mary Ellen Baker of Cape Coral, Fla.
Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel F. Lawler S.J. will officiate. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

Dorothy B. Zullinger
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy B. Zullinger, 81, of 270 S. Main St., died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 22, 1916, in Newville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Z. and Alice Gutshall Burkholder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Zullinger, in 1982.
She was a 1932 graduate of Newville High School. She attended Carlisle Business School.
She was employed as a librarian for 35 years at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church, Chambersburg.
She was a member of the national Association of Retired Federal Employees and local AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Gibbs of Leesburg, Va.; one sister, Lucretia M. Brandt of Newville; two brothers, Richard L. Burkholder of Newville and Ronald G. Burkholder of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one grandson; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin J. Burkholder, Coyle R. Burkholder and Dale E. Burkholder.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chambersburg Bible Church, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer and the Rev. David W. Kraft will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the church Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Robert G. Hahn
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Robert G. "Bob" Hahn, 55, of 318 N. Grant St., died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1942, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Wilbur C. and Mary E. Zimmerman Hahn.
He was a 1960 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He was employed by Global Patterns in Waynesboro and then with Bonded Applicators, Waynesboro, for a short time. He then became a self-employed contractor with the business, Robert G. Hahn Contractor.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Carol S. Spencer Hahn, whom he married on Feb. 15, 1964; two daughters, Angela W. Masters of Waynesboro and Jennifer S. Seterquist of New York City; two sisters, Shelby J. Fleagle of Chambersburg, Pa., and Patricia A. Favorite of Thurmont, Md.; one brother, David W. Hahn of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks and Pastor William Shank will officiate. Burial will be private in Green Hill Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends in the church parlor Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Mary R. High
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary R. High, 102, of 101 Glen St., died Monday, March 23, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born Feb. 14, 1896, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Charlotte Brown Schwartz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. High, in 1954.
She was a cook at restaurants in Chambersburg. She was retired.
She was a member of Christian Life Assembly of God Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Enola H. Kelso of Baltimore and M. Ruth Stubler of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Guy E. High; two sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christian Life Assembly of God Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Howard L. Beaver and the Rev. Willis I. Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Dennis E. Smith
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Dennis E. "Smitty" Smith, 56, of 939 Park St., died Sunday, March 22, 1998, in Williamsburg, Va.
Born Sept. 4, 1941, in Waynesboro, he was the son of M. Annabelle Wiles Dentler of Waynesboro and the late Norvel E. Smith.
He was a 1960 graduate of Waynesboro High School. He attended Catonsville Community College, Catonsville, Md.
He was employed as a guard by Pinkerton Security at Mack Trucks, Hagerstown. He then worked at Victor Cullen, Sabillasville, Md., and at Grant Store in Waynesboro as a salesman. He was a manager of Waynesboro Radio Shack. He was employed as a guard by Franklin County Prison and Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa. He retired on disability in 1995. He operated the hauling business You Call We Haul.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Cuban missile crisis.
He was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro.
He was past commander of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro, where he was a service officer. He was a member of Eagles Club, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, YMCA and South Chapter 2977 AARP, all of Waynesboro, Fraternal Order of Police and National AARP.
He was a YMCA swimming coach for several years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, MaryLou Bentz Smith, whom he married on July 1, 1965; his stepfather, Merle F. Dentler Sr. of Waynesboro; three daughters, Laura A. Bittner of Cascade, Melissa J. Cauffman and Dawn M. Kriner, both of Waynesboro; one sister, Sharon R. Fry of Waynesboro; one stepsister, Linda Mull of Chambersburg; one stepbrother, Merle F. Dentler Jr. of Chambersburg; five granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Michael V. Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa. Military graveside services will be conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.

Clyde R. Freeman
ORBISONIA, Pa. - Clyde Richard Freeman, 74, of Ridgley Street, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at his home.
Born Oct. 15, 1923, in Rivesville, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Effie Ford Freeman.
He retired in 1986 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa.
He was a member of Orbisonia United Methodist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Post 572, Orbisonia. He was a former member of Orbisonia-Rockhill Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Emery Freeman, whom he married on April 25, 1943; two daughters, Kim M. Freeman of Orbisonia and Karen S. Beatty of Shirleysburg, Pa.; two sons, Gary W. Freeman and Clyde W. Freeman, both of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard E. Freeman; three sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Ridgley Street, Orbisonia. The Rev. G. Phillip May will officiate. Burial will be in Orbisonia Cemetery, Orbisonia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Walter R. Bard Jr.
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Walter Raymond Bard Jr., 67, of R.R. 2, McConnellsburg, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Washington D.C.
Born Sept. 1, 1930, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Walter R. Bard Sr. and Amy M. Sipes Bard.
He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot and JLG and was a self-employed auto body technician.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 3rd Armored Division in the Korean War.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a life member of VFW Post 655, American Legion Post 561, and Fulton Overseas Veteran's Association, all of McConnellsburg, and Disabled American Veterans of Chambersburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Faye McQuade Bard, whom he married on May 10, 1952; one daughter, Vickie Seville of McConnellsburg; two sons, Dennis L. Bard and Douglas L. Bard, both of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Lucille Bard Knoll of Chambersburg; one brother, Kenneth G. Bard Sr. of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kermit L. Bard; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. The Rev. David Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville. Full military service will be conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
