WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Emma Marie Hartman Whitmore, 87, of 8786 Capitol Hill Road, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1910, in the Fox Hill area of Quincy Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Daisy Smith Hartman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer William Whitmore, in 1959. They were married in 1929.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Fairview Chapel.
She is survived by four daughters, Bernice L. Fickes of Fayetteville, Pa., Patricia L. Provard and Sally Jean Bakner, both of Waynesboro, and Martha K. Weirman of Mentor, Ohio; two sons, D. Robert Whitmore of Georgetown, Idaho, and William E. Whitmore of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Sally Singer and Esther Cordell, both of Waynesboro; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, James Hartman.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Wayne L. Kuhns will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
June E. Kirby
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - June E. Kirby, 79, of 620 S. Main St., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born June 5, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Leslie G. and Martha J. McDonald Hockensmith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Kirby, in 1979.
She was a 1937 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by three sons, Gary L. Kirby of Honolulu, Thomas L. Kirby of Oswego, Ore., and Dan H. Kirby of Baltimore; one sister, Joan L. Martin of Chambersburg; one brother, Lester G. Hockensmith Jr. of Chambersburg; one granddaughter; and one stepgranddaughter.
A public memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Catharine D. Bomberger
LANCASTER, Pa. - Catharine D. Bomberger, 97, of 613 State St., died Monday, March 2, 1998, at St. Anne's Home, Columbia, Pa.
Born in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Sarah Downs Schnebly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Bomberger, in 1977.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Lancaster.
She is survived by one son, Col. Richard W. Bomberger Jr. of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Mary Bomberger Burke, with whom she lived.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 321 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster. The Rev. John H. Emmert will officiate. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Lillie M. Coble
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lillie M. Coble, 83, of Greencastle, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at her home.
Born April 26, 1914, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Moria Byers Lowens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Coble, in 1997.
She attended Lemasters High School.
She was employed by Windsor and Sylvania Shoe factories in Greencastle, retiring in 1974.
She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemasters, Pa.
She is survived by one daughter, Audrey Weaver of Hagerstown; two sons, William T. Coble and Robin Coble, both of Greencastle; two sisters, Margaret Kissinger and Esther Ernst, both of Mercersburg; one brother, Edward Lowens of Menno-Village; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle Ruble will officiate. Burial will be in Coble's Cemetery, St. Thomas, Pa.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert H. Murray Jr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Robert H. "Bob" Murray Jr., 55, of 1128 Marvern Drive East, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 29, 1942, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Robert H. Murray Sr. of Chambersburg and the late Lois Ann Clippinger Murray.
He was a 1960 graduate of Chambersburg High School; and attended the former Shippensburg State College, Shippensburg, Pa., for two years.
He was employed by Franklin County Transportation; and Chambersburg Broadcasting Co., both of Chambersburg.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He was a life member of Goodwill SFE and H. Fire Co. 3, Chambersburg, and was secretary for the past 10 years. He was a member of Chambersburg Fireman's Relief Association; Franklin/Fulton Fireman's Association; life member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and a member of Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association.
In addition to his Father, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Mundorff Murray, whom he married Aug. 15, 1965; one son, Robert W. Murray of Chambersburg; and one brother, Gordon P. Murray of Spring Run, Pa.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Rennes F. Bowers III will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Zelda V. Corwell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Zelda Viola Corwell, 95, of 250 Garfield St., and formerly of 262 Linden Ave., died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Feb. 13, 1903, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Wrights Shatzley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Corwell Sr., in 1968. They were married Jan. 17, 1920.
She was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of Open Door Church, Chambersburg. She was a charter member of Jolly 60's class.
She was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg.
She is survived by four daughters, Janet V. Evans, Mary E. Beard and Donna R. Mellott, all of Chambersburg, and Margaret M. Hoover of Cambry, Ind.; one son, Harry T. Corwell Jr. of Chambersburg; one sister, Grace Peters of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, John Shatzley of Apopka, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Monn; four sisters; two brothers; two granddaughters; and two grandsons.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The viewing will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Richard W. Anthony
QUINCY, Pa. - Richard W. "Dick" Anthony, 80, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 104 Reynolds Ave., Mont Alto, Pa., died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born July 25, 1917, in Shady Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar F. and Carrie K. Smith Anthony.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theater.
He was employed in the cutting department of Waynesboro Knitting Mill. Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked in technical services for Penn State Mont Alto for 12 years.
He was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife of more than 44 years, Pauline L. Benshoff Anthony; and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 113 S. Church St., Waynesboro. Pastor Brent K. Driver and Chaplain C. Albert Guyer will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro; and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Donald C. West Sr.
FAIRFIELD, Pa. - Donald C. West Sr., 84, of 1135 Old Waynesboro Road, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born July 21, 1913, in Upper Strausburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Wallace B. and Flora Viola Clabaugh West.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred L. Ferguson West, in 1991.
He was employed by GAF as a foreman. He retired in 1978 after 35 years with the company.
He was a member and elder of Greenstone Apostolic Church, Greenstone, Pa.
He was a life member of Blue Ridge Sportsman Club, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
He is survived by one daughter, Mildred Lucille Coshun of Fairfield; one son, Donald C. West Jr. of Calahan, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Margaret Perkins of Virginia, and Elizabeth Ann Reda of New York; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Greenstone Apostolic Church, 2509 Iron Springs Road, Fairfield. The Rev. Eugene M. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Fountaindale Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
