Margaret V. Gossert
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Margaret V. Gossert, 86, of 217 Lincoln Drive, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Franklin County Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 13, 1911, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Milton R. and Nora Brookens Reasner.
Her husband, Robert W. "Bob" Gossert, died in 1993.
She was a lifelong member of Coldspring United Brethren Church and Women's Missionary Association.
She is survived by one brother, Donald Reasner of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Kerby Skinner and Zandra Skinner; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Coldspring United Brethren Church, 1094 Brookens Road, Fayetteville. The Rev. Peter S. Edwards and the Rev. Lester E. Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.
John F. Martin
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - John Frederick "J. Fred" Martin, 88, of 192 Baumgardner Court, and a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 31, 1909, in Guilford Township, Pa., he was the son of the late J. Albert and Maude Smith Kreps Martin.
He was a retired farmer. He retired from Frick Co. of Waynesboro, Pa. He also had worked for the former Omwake and Oliver Orchards in Greencastle, the former Geiser Co., Waynesboro, and Chambersburg Engineering Co.
He was a member of Solomon's (Grindstone Hill) Evangelical Lutheran Church near Chambersburg, Pa.
He was a member of Greencastle Senior Men's Group.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary A. Oberholzer Martin; two daughters, Maryle E. Monn of Waynesboro and Patricia A. Logan of Harrisburg, Pa.; three sons, John F. Martin Jr. of Chambersburg, Donald G. Martin of Waynesboro, and Larry E. Martin of Macungie, Pa.; one brother, I. Eugene "Jiggs" Martin of Greencastle; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Small, Mary Zeigler and Ruth Miller; two brothers, Kenneth Martin and Donald Martin; and one grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Solomon's (Grindstone Hill) Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg. Pastor Michael Allwein will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Hazel A. Angle
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Hazel A. Angle, 83, of 2075 Scotland Ave., and formerly of 606 E. Catherine St., Chambersburg, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Menno-Haven, Chambersburg.
Born May 16, 1914, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Ira B. and Lydia Hock Wenger.
Her husband, Ernest M. Angle, died in 1984.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School and the former Chambersburg Business College.
She had been a secretary for McIntire Oil Co. in Chambersburg, and formerly worked at Stanley Co.
She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg, Buds of Promise Sunday School Class and Missionary Society, and was church pianist.
She was a member of the President's Associates of Huntington College in Huntington, Ind.
She is survived by one sister, Janet McGehee of Chambersburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of King Street United Brethren Church, 172 E. King St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester Stine and the Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Lois M. Fickes
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lois M. Fickes, 59, of 2110 Black Gap Road, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born March 29, 1938, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Mary K. Noll Cook of Chambersburg and the late Charles A. Cook.
She was a housekeeper at Caledonia Manor Nursing Home in Fayetteville for 25 years.
She was a social member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Clyde J. Fickes; two daughters, Linda L. Karns and Brenda K. Fickes, both of Fayetteville; four sons, Randy L. Fickes of Shippensburg, Pa., and Donald W. Fickes, Clyde J. Fickes III and Paul L. Fickes, all of Fayetteville; one sister, Helen Hobbs of Fayetteville; three brothers, Richard Cook, John Cook and Gary Cook, all of Fayetteville; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Cook, Charles Cook, Donald Cook, Frank Cook and Terry Cook.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Geraldine L. Rife
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Geraldine L. Rife, 79, of 2130 Philadelphia Ave., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at her home.
Born March 17, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Jesse A. Leidig and Mabel Kelso Leidig Thompson.
Her husband, Wilbur M. Rife, died in 1973.
She was a 1935 graduate of Chambersburg High School, and attended the former Chambersburg Business College for one year.
She was employed by the state of Pennsylvania for several years. She was employed in the payroll department of Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 15 years. She and her husband owned and operated Rife's Mobile Home Park in Chambersburg from 1956 until the late 1970s.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, a member of the Loyalty Sunday School Class, Naomi Circle, and United Methodist Women, serving as past president. She also was a member and past chairwoman of the church financial committee, and a member of the church administrative board. She was treasurer of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of United Methodist Women for more than eight years.
She also was a member of AARP Norland Chapter 3261, Martha Custis Chapter 342 Order of Eastern Star, Falling Spring Court 139 Order of Amaranth, and Ladies Auxiliary to Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all in Chambersburg, a member of Samaria Shrine 43 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Gettysburg, Pa., and a life member and past president of Business and Professional Women's Club, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Sanda R. Rife of Chambersburg; one son, Mark C. Rife of Chambersburg; one brother, Jess A. Leidig of Chambersburg; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Family Life Center of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Harold E. Posey will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Estalene M. Dyer
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Estalene M. Dyer, 65, of Kuhn Road, and formerly of Dyer Road, Mercersburg, Pa., died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born July 11, 1932, in Little Cove, Pa., she was the daughter of Mary Frances Younker Moats of Little Cove and the late Ira M. Moats Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin I. Dyer, in 1996.
She was a homemaker and a retired farmer.
She was a member of Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, Hollow Road, Hancock.
She was a member of Eastern Milk Association.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Judy K. Stotler of Hancock; three sisters, Shelby Hovermale of Hancock, Doris Barker of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Patsy Barnhart of Clear Spring; three brothers, Ira Moats Jr. of Hancock, Kenneth Moats of Greencastle and Rick Moats of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, Hollow Road, Hancock. The Rev. Harry Strite and the Rev. Paul Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Little Cove United Methodist Cemetery, Little Cove.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock; and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open today from noon until 9 p.m.

Beulah M. Martz
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Beulah M. Martz, 85, formerly of HCR 64, Harrisonville, Pa., died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit.
Born July 20, 1912, in Licking Creek Township, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William R. and Rosalie DeShong Mellott.
Her husband, John R. Martz, died in 1956. They were married in 1928.
She was employed by Howard Johnson's Restaurant at the former Cove Valley Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
She was a member of Hustontown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty J. Trogler of Chambersburg, Pa.; five sons, John W. Martz of Columbus, Ohio, George E. Martz of Oxnard, Calif., Roy R. Martz and Samuel T. Martz, both of McConnellsburg, and Robert H. Martz of Harrisonville, Pa.; two sisters, Faye Fogle of Chambersburg, and Rosella Souders of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, one son, two sisters and one brother.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at McConnellsburg Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Francis W. Dickson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Francis "Frank" W. Dickson, 65, of 432 N. Franklin St., and formerly of Wyoming, Pa., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 29, 1933, in Wyoming, he was the son of the late Charles Dziedzic and Martha Bugno Dickson.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean War.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot Building 1, Chambersburg; and operated Dickson's Photography in Chambersburg from 1970 to 1989.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg; and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wyoming.
He was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; and Burt J. Asper 46 American Legion, both of Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Howard Dickson, whom he married June 21, 1953; and a daughter, Arlene Cummings of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by a son in 1959.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
