Myron Mickley Jr.
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Myron "Junior" Mickley Jr., 75, of 7013 Anthony Highway, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at his home.
Born June 23, 1922, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George Myron and Margaret Mae Wile Mickley.
He was a 1942 graduate of Quincy High School, Quincy, Pa.
He worked in engineering publication for Fairchild Aircraft in Washington County for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1983, then worked part-time at Gibble's in Chambersburg until 1992. In earlier years he was employed by Wertz and Miller Orchards, Landis Tool Co. and Landis Machine Co.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II.
He was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, where he was a deacon and served as superintendent of Mixed Couples Sunday School Class.
He visited Franklin County nursing homes and hospitals each week.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Irene Miller Mickley; three daughters, Margaret Irene Shaw of Waterfall, Pa., Lavon Marie Dougherty of Fayetteville, Pa., and Marion Louise Donegan of Waynesboro; one son, Ordean Myron Mickley of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one niece; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Mickley, in 1986.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Jaye M. Bartle and the Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

Mary E. Lantz
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary E. Snyder Lantz, 98, a resident of ManorCare Health Services; and formerly of 209-B Elder Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 6, 1899, in Chewsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Mary Lowe Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Lantz. They were married June 20, 1920.
She and her husband operated their family farm; and later local farms in Waynesboro.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, since 1937. She was the oldest member of the church. She was a former member of Otterbein sisters Sunday School class. Earlier, she played the piano at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Chewsville; and also sang in the church choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Thelma L. Koontz of Waynesboro; two sons, Robert K. Lantz of Ephrata, Pa., and the Rev. Wilbur F. Lantz of Celebration, Fla.; a brother, Charles Snyder of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Charles R. Lantz Jr. and Donald S. Lantz; and a brother, Frank Snyder.
Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery, Smithsburg.
The family will receive friends Monday a half-hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Thomas S. Shindledecker
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Thomas S. Shindledecker, 74, of 690 Williamson Road, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998.
Born Jan. 19, 1924, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey R. and Alice A. Stull Shindledecker.
For 30 years he was a self-employed painting contractor, and later did maintenance work at Citizens National Bank in Waynesboro.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater, including Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was a member of Eagles Club Inc. in Waynesboro, Waynesboro American Legion and the 29th Division Association Inc.
He enjoyed going to flea markets, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Josephine Woodring Shindledecker; one daughter, Sandra Zentmyer of Ocean City, Md.; one son, Melvin L. Shindledecker of Mont Alto, Pa.; one sister, Reberta Johnson of Baltimore; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. The Rev. Robert L. Fitz will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle.
Doris E. Heefner
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Doris E. "Dee" Heefner, 60, of 25 Hazel St., died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at her home.
Born June 2, 1937, in Letterkenny Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer D. and Minnie B. Miller Byers.
She was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg High School, and received a bachelor of arts in religion from Wilson College in 1989.
She was a bookkeeper and tax accountant and was a notary public from 1972 to 1996.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She received a certificate in Christian Education from Ghandi Memorial Center in 1989, a plaque from International Society of Poetry and was listed in Tapestry of Thoughts in 1996.
She is survived by her former husband, Theodore C. Heefner Jr.; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Heefner of Lansing, Mich., and Toshia Dee Heefner-Foor of Chambersburg; two sons, Reginald Lee Heefner and Timothy Raye Heefner, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Dorothy Sanders and Martha McCardell, both of Chambersburg; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Heefner.
A service of celebration will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Alice W. Banks
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alice W. Banks, 90, of 556 S. Main St., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at The Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 19, 1907, in Millwood, Va., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Allen and Evelyn Carter Williams.
Her husband, Edward R. Banks, died in 1980.
She was head chef at Franklin Farms, now known as Franklin County Nursing Home, for 15 years, and head chef at Guilford Nursing Home for more than 10 years. Most recently, she was a cook in the Corpus Christi Church Rectory in Chambersburg.
She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, serving as a minister of the sick, in addition to her membership in the Legion of Mary, the Gospel Choir and Columbian Ladies.
She also was a member of Falling Springs AARP and a volunteer at South Mountain Restoration Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Edna I. Banks of Chambersburg; two sons, Thomas M. Banks of Wayne, Pa., and Benjamin L. Banks of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, with Monsignor Thomas Brenner and Monsignor Hubert McGuire as celebrants.
Visitation will be at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Thelma L. Gray
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Thelma L. Gray, 74, of 302 E. Catherine St., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at The Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1924, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Delno Sr. and Sarah Jane Jones Blakey.
Her husband, James A. Gray, died in 1993.
She was a 1943 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She retired in 1993 from Long Jewelers in Chambersburg, where she worked in sales. She also worked at the former Silver's Country Corner in Chambersburg.
She was a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church in Chambersburg, and served on the trustee board.
She served as secretary of Mount Vernon Cemetery Association.
She is survived by one daughter, Constance L. Gray of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Delno Blakey Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Leroy R. Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

James E. Mellott Jr.
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - James E. Mellott Jr., 21, of HCR 80, Box 176, died Monday, March 2, 1998, on Timber Ridge Road, Fulton County, Pa.
Born Dec. 17, 1976, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of Alice M. Keefer Mellott of McConnellsburg, and the late James E. Mellott Sr.
He was employed as a welder by JLG Industries in McConnellsburg.
He was a member of McConnellsburg VFW.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Tammy Smith of Needmore, Pa.; and his maternal grandmother, Clara M. Keefer of McConnellsburg.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Mennonite Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Keith Clugston and Elijah Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m.
Della A. Pryor
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Della A. Pryor, 91, of 98 Carlton Circle, St. Thomas, Pa., and a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born March 10, 1906, in Upperstrasburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James W. and Clara A. Mower Douglas.
Her husband, Albert L. "Ely" Pryor, died in 1969.
She was previously employed at Letterkenny Army Depot.
She was a member of Mount Olivet United Brethren Church, Edenville, Pa.
She is survived by one daughter, Lois Yeakle of St. Thomas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in St. Thomas. The Rev. Stan McCammon will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
