Robert Smith
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Robert Smith, 63, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Shepherd Choice Nursing Center, Gettysburg.
Born Feb. 1, 1934, in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Elvin and Myrtle Sanders Smith.
He attended Fairfield High School.
He had been employed at Pipe and Nipple Factory in Adams County. He then worked as a fruit and dairy farmer.
He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Asrnsberger of Gettysburg and Dorothy Eshelman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Glen Smith and Roy Smith, both of Waynesboro, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Carroll Lukenbach, director of Pastoral Services of Shepherd's Choice, officiated at a private memorial service. Burial will be private in Fountandale Union Cemetery.

Vernon W. Nicholson
BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Vernon Woodrow "Bob" Nicholson, 68, of 15511 Norwood Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Thurmont, Md., he was the son of the late Edward A. and Edna Gall Nicholson.
He was a 1948 graduate of Thurmont High School.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during the Korean War.
He worked for 38 years as an electrical foreman for H.P. Foley in the Washington D.C. area.
He was a member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit.
He was a member of IBEW Local 26, from 1953 until his retirement in 1991; American Legion Post 239 in Cascade; Eagles Club; South Mountain Rod and Gun Club; William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 in Waynesboro; National AARP; and Retired Members Club Local 26.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Hull Nicholson, whom he married Aug. 2, 1956; one daughter, Debi K. Etter Dickinson of Rouzerville; one son, Gary L. Nicholson of Blue Ridge Summit; two grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Nicholson and Evelyn Bonney, both of Frederick, Md., and Gloria Green of Thurmont; and one brother, Edward S. Nicholson of Frederick.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Lee Nicholson; and one brother, Sonny Nicholson.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit. Pastor Robert S. Edmundson will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Barbara A. Bikle
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Barbara Ann Bikle, 46, of 2484 Black Gap Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Fla.
Born Dec. 2, 1951, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Ferdinand C. and Doris Forrester Bikle Jr. of 2484 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg.
She was a 1969 graduate of Shippensburg High School; and a 1971 graduate of Penn Hall Junior College.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church; Hutton Sunday School Class; and Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Churches of America.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Ferdinand Bikle III of Fayetteville, Pa.; one nephew, Ferdinand Bikle IV of Lancaster, Pa.; and one niece, Marie Bikle of Fayetteville.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Karen Minnich-Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Greene Township.
Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

Eleanor L. Laidig
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Eleanor Louise Laidig, 89, of McConnellsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Skilled Care, Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born Dec. 10, 1908, in Taylor Township, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alexander R. and Carrie Cutchall Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy R. Laidig, in 1971. They were married May 2, 1943.
She attended Shippensburg College and graduated from Pittsburgh University.
She taught in elementary schools in Taylor Township for 35 years.
She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, where she was a member of Ladies Aid.
She was a member of Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by three stepdaughters, Evelyn Heefner, Ruby Shiley and Anna Thomas, all of Harrisburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel A. Laidig; two sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. Pastor David Arnold will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Visitation will be Sunday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

William W. Lutz
FANNETTSBURG, Pa. - William W. "Red" Lutz, 73, of Fannettsburg, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1924, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Walter S. and Ruth Heberlig Lutz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Hurst Lutz, in 1971.
He was retired from Cressler's Trucking, Shippensburg, where he worked as a mechanic. Earlier, he was an independent truck driver working for Daily Express, Carlisle, Pa.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a member of Shippensburg Fish and Game Association; Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223; Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168; Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club; and Tri-state Trap League. He was a life member of Hub City Club.
He is survived by two sisters, Sara J. Foreman and Anna L. Strawmyre, both of Shippensburg; one niece and three nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. The Rev. Ted Hale will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Graveside military services will be conducted by Shippensburg VFW and American Legion posts.
The viewing will be Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

John T. Monti
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John T. Monti, 61, of Talhelm Road, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 1, 1937, in New York City, he was the son of the late Louis and Anna G. Zoellner Monti.
He was owner and operator of Dol-Jon Inc. Trucking, Chambersburg, since 1982. He was previously employed by Central Motors, Hagerstown, and Greencastle Ford.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Dolly Covalt Monti; two daughters, Lisa Vecchio of Uniondale, N.Y., and Karen Mather of Lake Harmony, Pa.; one son, Robert Monti of Uniondale; one stepdaughter, Michelle Hess of Hagerstown; one stepson, Christopher Buhrman of Mount Joy, Pa.; one brother, Peter Monti of Brandon, Fla.; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. Pastor John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Frances E.P. Divelbliss
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Frances Elizabeth Price Divelbliss, 85, of 202 Homewood Ave., died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at her home.
Born April 28, 1912, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Stover and Alice Weaver Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orson "Jack" Divelbliss, in 1995.
She was a 1930 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She was first employed, following graduation, at McCrory's 5 & 10 store. She was later employed in the accounting department at Landis Tool Co. from 1935 to 1950. From 1950 until retiring in 1978, she was employed as a secretary at Waynesboro Savings Association.
She was a life member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she served as a secretary of the church school and Board of Christian Education for many years. She also was a member of various church councils.
She was a charter member of Waynesboro South Chapter 2977 AARP and a member of National AARP. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and Bloodmobile.
She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Price and Robert "Bob" Price.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Raymond V. Cosey
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Raymond V. Cosey, 79, of 46 Baumgardner Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born April 9, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Alvey V. and Bertha P. Cook Cosey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. Miller Cosey, on Dec. 13, 1997.
In his early life, he worked as a plasterer for the former Ed Stoltz Appliances in Mercersburg, Pa. He later worked at Frick Co. in Waynesboro and Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa. He retired from Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army, 709th Military Police Service Battalion. He served in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, Coseytown, Pa.
He was a life member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319, Greencastle, and member of Greencastle Sportsman's Association.
He is survived by one daughter, Bonnie J. Cosey Showalter of Chambersburg; two stepsons, Robert S. Miller and Richard H. Miller, both of Greencastle; two sisters, Pauline C. Miller of Greencastle and Thelma R. Musselman of Mercersburg; one brother, C. Robert Cosey of Coseytown; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Walter G. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church Cemetery, Coseytown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where the Greencastle VFW will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
