CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jean A. Menter, 73, of 6196 Mountain View Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1924, in Philipsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Jean M. Wilson Shugert.
She was a 1943 graduate of Philipsburg High School.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for 16 years by Geyer Lumber Co. in Chambersburg. She retired in 1985.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; Ladies Golf League and NCO Wives Club, both of Letterkenny.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Menter, whom she married on Dec. 22, 1951; and one godchild, Leslie J. Byers of Ashland, Va., whom she raised.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Linda J. Jaymes will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Natalie E. Johnston
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Natalie E. Johnston, 65, of 7850 Lincoln Way East, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at her home.
Born Jan. 14, 1932, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arley and Dorothy Barfoot McCarty.
She was a 1951 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She was owner and operator of Caledonia Dal Kennels, Fayetteville.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lawton, Okla.
She was a member of Dalmatian Club of America, Delaware Valley Dalmatian Club and National AARP. She was involved in breeding, selling and showing of dalmatians for more than 40 years.
She is survived by her husband, William G. Johnston, whom she married on July 27, 1957; one daughter, Nannetta K. Pine of Fayetteville; one sister, Mildred Powell of Chambersburg; and one grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel H. Kelchner will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Greene Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Donna O. Hoskins
MARION, Pa. - Donna O. Hoskins, 47, of 5544 S. Main St., died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at her home.
Born Nov. 18, 1950, in Goldsboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Doris Britt Sessions.
She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, Goldsboro.
She was a partner of the former Art Craftree, Greencastle, Pa.
She was a member of Lioness Club of Greencastle, where she was awarded Lioness of the Year in 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Harry C. Hoskins III; two sons, Harry C. Hoskins IV of Chambersburg, Pa., and Richard C. Hoskins of Marion; two sisters, Teresa Kitchen of Suffolk, Va., and Rose Wagner of Monticello, Va.; two brothers, Jerome Sessions of Hephzibah, Ga., and Alan Sessions of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Evelyn G. Rogers
ELLISVILLE, Miss. - Evelyn G. Rogers, 84, of Ellisville, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at South Central Regional Medical Center, Laurel, Miss.
Born May 28, 1913, in Pleasant Hall, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Wright Guyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland G. Rogers.
She was employed by the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg and the former Glen L. Martin Aircraft Manufacturing in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Ellisville United Methodist Church, Ellisville.
She is survived by one daughter, Dixie Walters of Laurel; one son, Lee Dennis of Pachuta, Miss.; one sister, Alverda Eckenrode of Fayetteville, Pa.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.

Elizabeth B. Capaldi
ORLANDO, Fla. - Elizabeth B. Capaldi, 84, of Orlando, and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Columbia Park Medical Center, Orlando.
Born Oct. 16, 1913, in Williamsport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Paulene Mary Geiger Finz.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William Capaldi; one stepson, Robert Capaldi of Fairfield, Calif.; one sister; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, Md. The Rev. Charles A. Erzkus will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Ross E. Zeger
QUINCY, Pa. - Ross E. Zeger, 78, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 11735 Ridge Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 28, 1919, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph Howard and Blanche E. Rockwell Zeger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mattie Bitner Zeger, in 1984.
He was a 1937 graduate of Mercersburg High School.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.
He served as director of the Farm Union's Co-Op of Greencastle.
He is survived by two daughters, Alice M. Eggleston of St. Clair, Wyo., and Rebecca Ann Zeger of Frederick, Md.; one son, Harold B. Zeger of Greencastle; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one stepgreat-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Zeger, in 1989.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Donald M. Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Rosalie L.H. Hockensmith
BEDFORD, Pa. - Rosalie L. Henry Hockensmith, 77, of Mount Valley Apartments, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at her home.
Born April 25, 1920, in Clear Ridge, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Lucretia Miller Henry.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bedford Valley United Methodist Church, Bedford.
She is survived by two sons, Gary L. Hockensmith of Wells Tannery, Pa., and W. Craig Hockensmith of Lancaster, Pa.; one sister, Lucille Keefer of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service and committal will be today at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. Pastor Barbara Ammann will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Ridge United Methodist Cemetery, Clear Ridge.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today one hour prior to the service.
Charles J. Miller
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Charles J. Miller, 67, of 256 E. Madison St., died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at his home.
Born Aug. 5, 1930, in Greencastle, he was the son of the late Russell B. and Catherine A. Phipps Miller.
He was a Greencastle High School graduate.
He retired from Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa., after 42 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
He was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Pennsylvania Chapter 110 and Greencastle Sportsman's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dolly M. Deshong Miller; two sons, Eugene C. Deshong of Frederick, Md., and Roger L. Deshong of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn E. Miller.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. and the Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday.
