Ethel J. Long
NEW GRENADA, Pa. - Ethel Jane Long, 101, of New Grenada, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Skilled Care, Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born March 10, 1896, in Six Mile Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William Z. and Roseanne Graffious Shue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Delmar Long, in 1981.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Mabel Bergstresser of Waterfall, Pa.; two sons, Robert H. Long of Wells Tannery, Pa., and Earl D. Long of New Grenada; seven granddaughters; three grandsons; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four children, three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. Pastor George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in New Grenada Church of God Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday one hour prior to the service.
Anna L. Sheaffer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna L. Sheaffer, 70, of 145 N. Franklin St., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born July 18, 1927, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Annie E. Fegan Andrews.
Her husband, William H. Sheaffer, died in 1982.
She is survived by two sisters, Patricia M. Hile and Ruth S. Hopkins, both of Chambersburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Mary D. Hock
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Mary D. Hock, 71, of 2526 Hafer Road, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at her home.
Born April 24, 1926, in East Waterford, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ada Harmon Darling.
She was a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Wingerd in Chambersburg, Pa., retiring in 1983 after 25 years.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph A. Hock, whom she married June 10, 1951; two daughters, Bonnie A. Bluett of Red Lion, Pa., and Angela K. Feldman of Chambersburg; one son, Michael W. Hock of Fayetteville; one sister, Dorothy Yocum of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Harold E. Posey will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mildred C. Stumbaugh
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mildred C. Stumbaugh, 81, a resident of ManorCare Health Services; and formerly of 2813 Enoch Brown Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 26, 1916, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Carrie Brubaker Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Stumbaugh, in 1981.
She attended Greenmount School.
She was a homemaker; and helped her husband operate the former Gateway Gulf Service Station on South Main Street, Chambersburg.
She was a member of Ebenezer Guitners United Brethren Church near Greencastle, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship.
She is survived by four daughters, Janet Wingert and Ethel West, both of Chambersburg, Phyllis Snider of Williamson, Pa., and Nancy Leidig of Greencastle; three sons, Roger Stumbaugh and John "Fred" Stumbaugh, both of Chambersburg and Douglas L. Stumbaugh of Greencastle; four sisters, Marion Garling of State Line, Pa., Iva Burger and Frances Ganoe, both of Greencastle and Norma Jean Yeager of St. Thomas, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph Stumbaugh Jr.; a daughter, Doris Hess, in 1993; and a sister, Margaret Poper.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Guitners United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Ralph Fry and the Rev. Richard Mose will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle and at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

William G. Wyrick
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - William Glen "Barney" Wyrick, 82, of 304 Meadow Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1915, in Shippensburg, he was the son of the late James and Elsie Snoke Wyrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Romaine D. Wyrick, in 1986.
He retired from Shippensbug University and earlier in his life worked for Nu Car Carriers.
He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Funk of Chambersburg; one brother, James Monroe "Red" Wyrick of Shippensburg; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and three sisters.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. The Rev. L. Fitzgerald Reist and Dr. Frances H. Norton will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
The viewing will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

George E. Fuller Sr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - George E. Fuller Sr., 63, of 1188 Boyer Mill Road, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 27, 1934, in Dubois, Pa., he was the son of the late Stanley and Gracie Gray Fuller.
He was a 1952 graduate of Dubois High School. He attended the University of Kentucky.
He retired in 1996 after 38 years of service as an ironworker for Local 404, Harrisburg, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612, American Legion, St. Thomas, Pa.; 40 et 8 Club, Chambersburg; and Eagles Inc., Waynesboro, Pa. He played football for the former Chambersburg Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife, Delores D. Spiker Fuller, whom he married Nov. 14, 1964; three daughters, Teresa L. McBeth, Lorie M. Heckman and Stacy D. Nelson, all of Chambersburg; one son, George E. Fuller Jr. of Las Vegas; two sisters, Louise McMillan of Dubois and Margie Pernesky of Montaque, Mich.; two brothers, James Fuller of Dubois and Samuel I. Fuller Sr. of Chambersburg; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel F. Lawler, S.J. will be celebrant. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by members of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612, American Legion Honor Guard.
The viewing will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roy M. McLaughlin
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Roy M. McLaughlin, 79, of 993 E. McKinley St., and formerly of 30 W. Washington St., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born July 27, 1918, in Bellewood, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton B. and Mary E. Armstrong McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Banks Iser McLaughlin, in 1997.
He retired as owner and operator of the former McLaughlin's Auction, Chambersburg. Prior to this, during the 1940s and 1950s, he had been employed at the former Swift and Co., Chambersburg.
He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Chambersburg.
He had served as a jury commissioner for Franklin County, Pa.; served two terms as a councilman in the borough of Chambersburg; and served as state inheritance tax supervisor in Harrisburg, Pa.
He is survived by three sisters, Phyllis Hewitt of Milroy, Pa., Lillian Bernice McCleary and Dolores Fisher, both of Chambersburg; four brothers, George McLaughlin of Fayetteville, Pa., John McLaughlin of Fort McCord, Pa., Ray McLaughlin and Robert McLaughlin, both of Chambersburg; seven nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Phyllis J. Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, Pa.
Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mabel R. McPherson
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Mabel R. McPherson, 66, of 1081 Knob Hill Drive, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.
Born Dec. 12, 1931, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William L. and Catherine E. Mull Appel.
She was a 1950 graduate of Chambersburg High School, Chambersburg.
She had been employed at United Telephone Co. in Chambersburg during the 1950s. She was then employed as a sales person at the former Joe the Motorist's Friend in Chambersburg during the 1960s. She last worked as a processor at Knouse Foods in Chambersburg from the 1960s to 1980s. She was an Avon representative for 27 years.
She was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
She was a member of American Business Women's Association, Heart of the Valley Chapter, Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Harland F. McPherson, whom she married April 5, 1980; two daughters, Suzanne Pugh of Fayetteville, Pa. and LuAnn McCleary of Winnsboro, S.C.; four sons, Walter C. Bietsch III of Chambersburg, Michael L. Bietsch of Swansea, Ill, W. Patrick Bietsch of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, and Roger H. Bietsch of Beaver, Pa.; two stepsons, Harley McPherson of California and Warren McPherson of Georgia; three sisters, Mary C. Jones and Hazel Baer, both of Chambersburg and Janet Stone of Hammondsport, N.Y.; one brother, William L. Appel Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a foster brother, Raymond Martin of York, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 17 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Stepler; and a stepson, Norman McPherson.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg. The Rev. Michael Miller will officiate. Private burial will be in Fetterhoff Chapel Cemetery, Guilford Township, Pa., prior to the services.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
