Marie E.H. Hoover
NORFOLK, Va. - Marie Evelyn Harne Hoover, of the 700 block of Miller Street, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at a local hospital.
She was a native of Waynesboro, Pa.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk.
She was a charter member of St. Mary's Infant Home.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Edward Hoover; two sisters, Mildred Eyer of Waynesboro, and Hazel Jones of Wilmington, Del.; and one brother, Charles Harne Jr. of Frederick, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Rafferty as celebrant. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
A Christian Wake Service will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, 3401 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23503.
Amos A. Angle
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Amos A. Angle, 83, of 11957 Two Top Road, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born July 4, 1914, near Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Ethan A. and Pearl Householder Angle.
His wife, Hazel Zeger Angle, died in 1974.
He worked as a carpenter for Rockwell Construction Co. in Mercersburg, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Welsh Run Church of the Brethren.
He also was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed attending youth sporting events in the area.
He is survived by three daughters, Martha A. Spielman, Josephine Faye Heinbaugh and Elizabeth K. Cline, all of Mercersburg; four sons, James A. Angle of Chambersburg, Joseph R. Angle of New Haven, Utah, Paul E. Angle and Ronald E. Angle, both of Mercersburg; two sisters, Kathryn Gipe of Oxon Hill, Md., and Leona Shatzer of Mercersburg; two brothers, Harry Angle of Boonsboro and David Angle of Mercersburg; 29 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three daughters, Janet Angle, Nancy Bowers and Dorothy Kyler.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Welsh Run Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Henry Hunsberger and the Rev. Joseph F. Long will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
A viewing will be at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Alta G. G. Ritchey
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Alta Grace Guillard Ritchey, 98, formerly of Wells Tannery, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Blue Ridge Haven East, Harrisburg.
Born April 30, 1899, in Sandy Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Drucella Clippinger Guillard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke G. Ritchey, in 1979.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Wells Tannery.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Hoover of Harrisburg; one son, Vaughn J. Ritchey of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one sister, Charlotte Guillard of Wells Tannery; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister; and three brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa. The Rev. George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Breezewood, Pa.
Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mary H. Stenger
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Mary H. Stenger, 86, of Piney Mountain Home, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born June 9, 1911, in Upper Strasburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Martin and Fannie Elizabeth Hoover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wallace Stenger, in 1975.
She was a member of Open Door Church.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Harrison and Mildred L. Stenger, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; and nine nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Air Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Janet M. Hardsock
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Janet M. Stoops Hardsock, 62, of 2972 Anthony Highway, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at her home.
Born March 8, 1935, in Guilford Township near Pond Bank, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Orville L. and Reba Bumbaugh Stoops.
She did seasonal work at Musselman's.
She was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church, Pond Bank; and attended Fayetteville Church of God, Fayetteville, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, David C. Hardsock Sr., whom she married July 19, 1952; four sons, David C. Hardsock Jr. of Pond Bank, Stephen I. Hardsock of Finksburg, Md., Manuel E. Hardsock of Chambersburg and Brian K. Hardsock of Fayetteville; four sisters, Faye McKee of Altoona, Isabelle Miller of McConnellsburg, Vivian Stoops of Holidaysburg, Pa. and Connie Seals of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; three brothers, Eugene Bumbaugh of Mont Alto, Pa., Glenn Stoops of Pond Bank and Marlyn Stoops of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one infant son; and one sister, Mary Stoops.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Fayetteville Church of God, 5276 Treher Road, Fayetteville. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. and the Rev. Mervil Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 South Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa.
Robert C. Souders
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Robert C. "Bob" Souders, 70, of R.R. 2 Box 159, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at his home.
Born April 5, 1927, in Ayr Township, Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of Bessie Everetts Souders of McConnellsburg and the late Raymond E. Souders.
He was a former farmer in Fulton County; then, in 1967, he worked at Grove as a welder, for 20 years.
He was a member of McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. for 50 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dolores M. "Doll" Culler Souders, whom he married Dec. 16, 1950; two daughters, Cheryl Deshong and Kimberly Keaton, both of McConnellsburg; one son, Harvey C. Souders of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; three sisters, Marian Carbaugh, Betty Keebaugh and Helen Sheeder, all of McConnellsburg; two brothers, Paul M. Souders and Roger L. Souders, both of McConnellsburg; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Souders and Phillip Souders.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Cito United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 North 2nd St., McConnellsburg.
For the convenience of friends, visitation will also be at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service.
Kenneth W. Stallsmith
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Kenneth W. Stallsmith, 81, of 106 Crider Ave., died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 23, 1916, in Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late George W. and Maude C. Wierman Stallsmith.
He was a 1936 graduate of Biglerville High School, Biglerville, Pa.; and a graduate of Carlisle Business School, Carlisle, Pa.
He was retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa., after 26 years.
He served with the U.S. Army, Company 1, 111th Infantry during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was a member of Open Door Church, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Yates Stallsmith; two sisters, Julia Bucher of Aspers, Pa. and Lena Miller of Gettysburg, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Fair and Mildred Miller.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Keith Skelton, the Rev. Jerry Traister and the Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, with military graveside services conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
