Catherine H. Dumas
EMMAUS, Pa. - Catherine Helen Dumas, 92, of 149 Elm St., and formerly of 32T W. King St., Waynesboro; Philadelphia; and Claymont, Delaware, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa.
Born April 18, 1905, in Fairfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Francis Dwyer and Emma Catherine Shindeldecker McIntire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married Feb. 2, 1952, George Francis Dumas, in 1962.
She worked as a secretary at Curtis Publishing Co. in Philadelphia.
She was a member of St. Andrews RC Church.
She was a member of Golden Age Club of Lancaster, Pa.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Speigel of Emmaus and Delores Newton of Claymont, Del.; one sister, Mary B. Davidson of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Miller; and two sisters, Mary B. Davidson and Ruth J. Goldsborough.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at noon at St. Andrews RC Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Anthony Schepis
HARRISONVILLE, Pa. - Anthony Schepis, 77, of HCR 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pa.
Born Jan. 26, 1920, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Pietro and Angelina Pino Schepis.
He retired in 1963 from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service.
He was employed by the U.S. government at the Philadelphia Quartermasters as a missile mechanic.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, McConnellsburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Maria T. Furnkranz Schepis, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1952; three daughters, Linda M. Miller of Shirleysburg, Pa., Susan C. Hopkins of Latonia, Ky., and Christina T. Schepis Parrish of Gaithersburg, Md.; three sons, John Schepis of San Antonio, Anthony Schepis of Burlington, Ky., and Michael A. Schepis of Hustontown, Pa.; two sisters, Catherine Voha and Jennie Butler, both of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Peter Anthony Schepis; one sister, Carmela Denicola; and one brother, Adam Schepis.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. The Rev. Joseph Orr will officiate. Burial will be Mount Tabor Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Martha E. Best
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Martha E. Best, 66, of 410 E. Washington St., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1931, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wayne F. and Sarah Benedict Best.
She was a 1949 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, after 34 years of service. Earlier, she had been a beautician in Chambersburg.
She was a member and Sunday school teacher at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one son, Trent A. Best of Chambersburg; one sister, Dorothy A. Gsell of Chambersburg; two brothers, W. Richard Best of New Franklin, Pa. and G. Robert Best of Chambersburg; and one stepgranddaughter.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Karen Minnich-Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Maude Jacobs
QUINCY, Pa. - Maude Speilman Jacobs, 94, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 1510 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at Quincy Home.
Born Oct. 16, 1903, in Amersterdam, Pa., near Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Nettie Flohr Speilman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married Dec. 31, 1929, M. Earl Jacobs, in 1986.
She had been employed, as a cashier, with American Stores.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren, Waynesboro.
She was a member of American Legion; Ladies Auxiliary, Post 15; and BPO Elks Ladies Auxiliary 731, Waynesboro.
She is survived by one niece; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, M. Howard Jacob.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. The Rev. John Paul Holsy will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery.

Joseph A. Avellino
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joseph A. Avellino, 84, a resident of The Inn at Luther Ridge, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Chambersburg.
Born Jan. 16, 1913, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Philomena Iandaoli Avellino.
He was a graduate of the former Southern High School, Philadelphia. He attended and played football at LaSalle College, Philadelphia. He later played semi-pro football in the Philadelphia area.
During World War II, he worked as a ship fitter at Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard. He retired after 25 years as owner and operator of the former Kitchen Krafters, Philadelphia.
He attended church at Luther Ridge Retirement Community. He was associated with Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Chambersburg.
He was a former member of Philadelphia Lions Club; and a member of the former Formica Fabricators of Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Green Avellino; one daughter, Phyllis Romando of Maple Shade, N.J.; one son, Joseph J. Avellino of Turnersville, N.J.; two stepdaughters, Sharon Toomey of Fayetteville, Pa., and Barbara Ciavarella of Wayne, Pa.; one stepson, George W. Geyer IV of Sewell, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; and five brothers.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jude T. Dawson-Amoah will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Helen R. Yeakle
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Helen R. Yeakle, 73, of 13277 Buchanan Trail West, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Peters Township, Franklin County, Pa.
Born June 20, 1924, near Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Ruth Smith Rock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Yeakle, in 1985.
She retired from Corning Glass Works, after 25 years.
She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove, Pa.
She was a member of AARP; and a volunteer for Mercersburg Chapter of Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by one daughter, Ginger L. Brindle of Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Ruth Nelson; one stepson, R. Eugene Yeakle of St. Thomas, Pa.; one brother, Carl Rock of Mercersburg; one sister, Grace Keefer of Little Cove, Pa; one stepsister, Beulah Bivens of Mercersburg; two stepbrothers, Harry Burkholder of Mercersburg and Leroy Burkholder of Reading, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Orville Yeakle; and her stepfather, Walter Burkholder.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Henry K. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.

Clark G. Rosenberry
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Clark G. Rosenberry, 76, of 629 Pine Mountain Drive, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1920, in Illinois, he was the son of the late Clark G. and Frosie Livingston Rosenberry Sr.
He retired from ITT Domestic Pump Co., Shippensburg, Pa. He then was employed part-time at Lowe's in Chambersburg, Pa.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He was a member of First Church of God, Chambersburg.
He was a member of AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Schooley Whitfield Rosenberry, whom he married May 5, 1971; five daughters, Linda Jennings, Marlene Allen, Peggy Johnson, Vera Rosenberry and Georgia McLaughlin, all of Illinois; two sons, Danny Rosenberry of Illinois and Jeff Kirkpatrick of Chambersburg; one stepdaughter, Patricia Keith of Chambersburg; one stepson, Bob Whitfield of Greencastle, Pa.; three sisters, Evelyn Larson of Quincy, Pa., Kathleen Washinger of Orrstown, Pa., and Carol Fox of Illinois; 15 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters; and five brothers.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Trevor E. Rosenberry will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery, Harrisonville, Pa.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
