Mary F. Watson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary F. Watson, 84, of Franklin County Nursing Home, and formerly of 1519 Hollywell Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born March 29, 1913, in Bressler, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Clara Sentman Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason M. Watson, in 1975.
She retired in 1975, after 15 years with the former Stanley Co. Earlier, she worked for Shirtcraft Factory, Shippensburg, Pa.; and for Chambersburg Hospital.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Doerner of Chambersburg; one son, Glenn A. Watson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Gertrude Hollar of Chambersburg and Dorothy Finkey of Shippensburg, Pa.; one brother, Robert Powell of Mount Holly Springs, Pa.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Stuart Troutman will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
Friends may call today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothea L. McFerren
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Dorothea L. McFerren, 89, of 409 W. Eighth St., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 26, 1908, in Groton, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Rudolph N.T. and Alida Charlotte Johnson Lindstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. McFerren, in 1967.
She attended Bridgewater State Teachers College in Bridgewater, Mass., for three years and later graduated from Shippensburg College, Shippensburg, Pa.
A special education teacher in Waynesboro-area schools, she retired in 1973.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro.
She was a member of Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by one daughter, JoAnne Fromme of Camp Hill, Pa.; one son, Robert W. McFerren of Burke, Va.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church, West North Street, Waynesboro. The Rev. James Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., corner of South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Verna M. Kramer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Verna M. Kramer, 88, of 2075 Scotland Ave., and formerly of Kenilworth, N.J., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg.
Born March 3, 1909, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard D. and Mary A. Brumbaugh Hoover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn S. Kramer, in 1985.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Kenilworth.
She was a member of Canford Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in Girl Scouts through her church in Kenilworth.
She was a bowler.
She is survived by one sister, Mabel Graham of Chambersburg; four nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth E. Bowers; and one brother, George Hoover.
Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Chaplain Vernon D. Isner will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Sherman H. Hoover
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Sherman H. Hoover, 80, of 4832 Molly Pitcher Highway South, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at his home.
Born on Oct. 20, 1917, in Dover, York County, Pa., he was the son of the late Marcus C. and Myrtle B. Heilman Hoover.
He was owner and operator of Hoover's Frozen Custard, Park Circle, Hagerstown.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Army Medical Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Lalia B. Jarrett Hoover, whom he married on June 15, 1941; one daughter, Susan D. Gustafson of Port Angles, Wash.; one son, Donald D. Hoover of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Ethel McCall of York, Pa., and Helen Steiner of Ringgold; one brother, Kenneth H. Hoover of Fayetteville, Pa.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Olive Cemetery, Abbottstown, Pa. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
There will be no viewing.

Joseph E. Caldwell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joseph E. Caldwell, 60, of Chambersburg, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born March 24, 1937, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John and Mary Caldwell.
He had been employed by Grove Manufacturing Corp. for the past 28 years.
He was a member of First Church of God, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Staley Caldwell; one son, John H. Staley of Fayetteville, Pa.; one sister, Bonnie Koontz of Shippensburg, Pa.; three brothers, James Caldwell of Fort Loudon, Pa., William Caldwell of Shippensburg, and Larry Caldwell; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one sister.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Buck Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Glen W. Fetterhoff
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Glen W. Fetterhoff, 78, of 431 W. Baltimore St., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, of a heart attack in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born March 20, 1919, in Antrim Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Albert and Olive Yeakle Fetterhoff.
In his early life he was a farmer. He then worked at Frick Co., Waynesboro, and retired after 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army in England and France.
He was a post member of Harry D. Zeigler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6319, Greencastle, and member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, Greencastle.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Cummerson Fetterhoff, whom he married in 1944; one daughter, Doreen Bittinger of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sons, William Fetterhoff and David K. Fetterhoff, both of Greencastle; one brother, Robert L. Fetterhoff of Coseytown, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Yeager and Clara Heckman; and three brothers, George Fetterhoff, Arthur Fetterhoff and Clark Fetterhoff.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military graveside honors by Chambersburg VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Jean M. Snider
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Jean M. Snider, 66, of 205 Loudon Road, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born April 3, 1931, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. Wallace and Pauline Sites Michaels.
She was the former owner and operator of Jean's Beauty Salon of Williamson. She closed her shop in 1957. In 1986, she and her husband opened J&J Laundromat of Mercersburg.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mercersburg.
She was a former charter member of the former MMP&W Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Mercersburg.
She is survived by her husband, John N. Snider Jr., whom she married on Feb. 1, 1953; one son, Tyrone C. Snider of Mercersburg; one sister, Mary Byron of Chambersburg; one brother, Donald Michaels of Scotland, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
A private graveside service will be today in Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, Pa. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate.
