William F. Andrew
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - William F. "Stump" Andrew, 77, of 900 Lincoln Way West, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Sept. 30, 1920, in McKnightstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Leila Frederick Andrew.
He was a 1940 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 29 years, retiring in 1972. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the former Corner Confectionary Store on the corner of Catherine and Second streets in Chambersburg. He subsequently was employed at the former Lincoln Sports Center in Chambersburg. At the time of his death, he was employed at Shoemaker's Sporting Goods in Chambersburg.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the 129th Infantry Company K in the South Pacific. He received the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, where he was an usher.
He delivered Meals on Wheels in the Chambersburg area.
He was founder of Hitching Post Hunting Club in Horse Valley, Pa., a life member of Disabled American Veterans and Franklin Fire Company Station 4 in Chambersburg. He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion in Chambersburg, Chambersburg and Letterkenny Rod and Gun Clubs, National Association of Retired Federal Employees 1063 in Chambersburg, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842 in Chambersburg, Inter-Church Mixed Bowling League at Lincoln Lanes in Fayetteville, Pa., Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Izaak Walton League Franklin County Chapter, and Falling Spring Chapter 2840 AARP in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Eckenrode Snyder Andrew, whom he married Oct. 3, 1941; one sister, Theda Divelbiss of Chambersburg; one brother, Harvey L. Andrew of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one son, Walter Lloyd "Wally" Andrew Sr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Karen Minnich-Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg, with military graveside honors conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.
There will be no viewing.

Larry R. Whitfield
YORK, Pa. - Larry Ray Whitfield, 38, of 332 Wardorf Drive, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at 592 W. King St., York.
Born July 6, 1959, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Shirley A. Poe Whitfield of Chambersburg, and the late Sidney E. Whitfield.
He was a laborer with Galt Control in York for five years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Deborah Traylor of Shippensburg, Pa., and Brenda Gossert of Chambersburg; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Terry Whitfield.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Sean A. Hinton will officiate. Burial will be in Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Charles R. Seville
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charles Robert Seville, 60, a resident of Manor Care Health Services, and formerly of 6470 Wayne Highway, Waynesboro, Pa., and McConnellsburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Manor Care Health Services.
Born April 20, 1937, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Gladys Bishop Seville.
He was an equipment operator for PennDOT.
He was a Korean War veteran.
He was a member of FOVA, McConnellsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Musto Seville; one daughter, Mitzi Souders of McConnellsburg; three sons, C. Russell Seville, Warren Seville and Gregory Seville, all of McConnellsburg; two sisters, Winifred Gehr of McConnellsburg and Jane Hill of Waynesboro; three brothers, Roger Seville of Newville, Pa., Marlin Seville of Muncy, Pa., and Gary Seville of Baton Rouge, La.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Seville, Rodney Seville and Richard Bishop.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. 2nd St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, with military services conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ernest J. Tsikerdanos
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Ernest J. "Chick" Tsikerdanos, 73, of 11565 Hearthwood Drive, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at his home.
Born June 2, 1924, in Duluth, Minn., he was the son of the late John A. and Mary S. Hoehn Tsikerdanos.
He was a 1941 graduate of Schenley High School, Pittsburgh. He graduated from Georgetown University in the School of Foreign Service with the class of 1951.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was recruited by the OSS.
He was the recipient of the purple heart; Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Medal; Bronze Arrowhead; American Theater Service Ribbon; War World II Victory Ribbon; Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon; and two medals from the Nationalist Chinese Government. He was recommended for the Silver Star for action during World War II. He was discharged, in 1945, with the rank of corporal.
He served with the CIA in Formosa, Indonesia and Greece. He retired in 1979, returning as a consultant during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
He was one of three recipients of the Donovan Award.
He was a member of Saint Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Frederick, Md.; and the AHEPA of the church.
He was a life member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro and DAV of Gettysburg, Pa.; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and BPO Elks, both of Waynesboro; and OSS Detachment 101 Association, where he served as president and most recently as historian.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Zafero Zaferiou Tsikerdanos; two daughters, Susan M. Hufschmidt of Smyrna, Del., and Elaine Salb of Damascus, Md.; two sons, John E. Tsikerdanos of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mark E. Tsikerdanos of Frederick; two sisters, Marjory Carvovwis of Wheaton, Md., and Marie Tsikerdanos of Vermont; two brothers, James Tsikerdanos of Waynesboro and William Tsikerdanos of Mount Dora, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 920 W. Seventh St., Frederick. Father Anastasios Kousoulas will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. Military graveside services will be conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Trisagion Service at 8 p.m.

Joseph L. Starry
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Joseph L. Starry, 86, of 11271 Woodside Drive, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born Aug. 16, 1911, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar L. and Margaret Ellen Show Starry.
He was employed by C&P Telephone Co., Washington, D.C., for 33 years, as the lead installer. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of Anacostia Lodge 21 Free and Accepted Masons; Consistory; William R. Singleton Royal Arch 4; Kena Zembo Temple; Knights of Templer Potomac Commandery 3, all of Washington, D.C.; and C&P Telephone Pioneers Club.
He is survived by his wife of more than 49 years, Dorothy E. Simpson Starry; one daughter, Susan S. Katacinski of Dinuba, Calif.; one son, Robert B. Starry of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Robert S. Starry of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one niece and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Rhodes; and one brother, Silas F. Starry.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Chaplain C. Albert Geyer will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. Masonic memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. by Acadia Lodge 586 F&AM, Waynesboro.

Lillian C. Snider
QUINCY, Pa. - Lillian C. Snider, 89, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 6435 Rock Hill Road, Chambersburg, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born Aug. 12, 1908, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Abram H. and Alma Paxton Culler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Snider, in 1988.
She was a 1926 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Open Door Church, Chambersburg, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothea A. Rine of Newville, Pa.; five sons, Jerre K. Snider of Waynesboro, Joseph C. Snider, Stephen S. Snider, and Michael A. Snider, all of Chambersburg, and John A. Snider of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Lois Dengler of Gettysburg, Pa.; one brother, Enniss Culler of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David A. Snider, in 1982; and a sister, Miriam Cook.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Keith Skelton will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Kathryn A. Harlowe
MARION, Pa. - Kathryn A. Harlowe, 74, of 5791 Second St., died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at her home.
Born Oct. 17, 1923, in Powelten, Centre County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James R. and Alice Walk Flick.
She had been employed as a riveter at Goodyear Aircraft Co., Akron, Ohio. Later, she was employed by Leland Electric, Dayton, Ohio. More recently, she was employed by the former H.J. Heinz Co. and then Knouse Foods, both of Chambersburg, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Francis E. Harlowe; two daughters, Judy Ellis of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jacqueline Barnes of Chambersburg; two sisters, Grace Gross and Ethel Parker, both of Tyrone, Pa.; one brother, Donald Harry of Ashland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary M. Harlowe, in 1992; and a grandson, Eugene Harlowe.
Memorial services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
