Elizabeth S. Brown
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Elizabeth S. Brown, 86, of Manor Care Home, and formerly of 31 W. Third St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at the home.
Born July 11, 1911, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Washington and Bertha N. Stouffer Speak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard S. Brown, in 1984.
She was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro, where she was a member of Homebuilders Sunday School Class.
She was a member and was recently on the roll as honorary member of Chambersburg Garden Club, Chambersburg; member of Antietam Garden Club; charter member of SPARS Rose Society; member of Waynesboro Historical Society and Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Natalie Louise Newcomer of Waynesboro; one sister, Kathryn Summers of Waynesboro; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard G. Speak.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., corner of South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Roger Cales will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the service.

Mary F. Strausbaugh
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mary Frances Strausbaugh, 84, of 13995 Crest Ave., died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa.
Born March 4, 1913, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nettie Fisher Snively.
She attended Waynesboro schools.
She was a homemaker. She also did domestic work for several families in Waynesboro.
She was a member of Prices Church of the Brethren in Washington Township, Pa.
She was an avid baker and cook and was known for her fasnacht making on Fasnacht Day in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her husband, Leo W. Strausbaugh, whom she married Dec. 25, 1945; one son, Charles L. Strausbaugh of Waynesboro; two grandsons, Adam M. Strausbaugh and Bryan M. Strausbaugh, both of Waynesboro; one niece; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Snively.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. C. William Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Clyde W. Preisler
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Clyde W. Preisler, 65, of 841 Forest Road, died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born March 4, 1932, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Dyer and Artiscia King Preisler.
He was a 1950 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He worked as an electrician for 25 years for IBEA Local 143 in Harrisburg, Pa., retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamson, Pa., and attended Abundant Life Chapel, Chambersburg.
He was a life member of Franklin Fire Co. in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Daugherty Preisler; one daughter, Vickie L. Negley of Chambersburg; three sons, Robert L. Preisler of Chambersburg, Timothy S. Preisler of Palm Bay, Fla., and Stephen R. Preisler of East Berlin, Pa.; one sister, Alice Stouffer of Lansdowne, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Preisler; and two brothers, Ralph Preisler and Dyer Preisler Sr.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5327 Warm Spring Road, Williamson. The Rev. Alan R. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Charles T. Bouder
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Charles T. "Charlie" Bouder, 72, of 5684 Tick Ridge Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Harvey E. Bouder of Waynesboro and the late Kathryn A. Gardenhour Bouder.
He attended Waynesboro schools.
Early in life, he was employed by Waynesboro Shoe Factory, and later for Waynesboro High School for 41/2 years. He then worked for the Borough of Waynesboro maintaining parking meters and painting lines and signs in Waynesboro for 411/2 years, retiring in 1990.
A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church for 47 years, where he served on the board of trustees for 14 years. He also was an usher and a member of Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class.
He also was a member of national AARP.
In addition to his Father, he is survived by his wife, Nellie E. Bartles Bouder, whom he married May 25, 1945; two daughters, Zandra T. Bricker of Zullinger, Pa., and Sarah E. Bouder of Waynesboro; one son, Charles L. Bouder of Zullinger; one sister, Janet I. Hocker of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Richard H. Bouder of Harrisburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church, 14807 Hollowell Church Road in Waynesboro. The Rev. James M. Sollenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Harry W. East
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Harry William East, 79, of 407 S. Broad St., died Monday, Dec. 22, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born Dec. 30, 1917, in Hazelton, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Ida Jones East.
His wife, Grace Sophia East, died in 1986. They were married on Oct. 4, 1939.
He was employed by Landis Tool and Fairchild, retiring from Fairchild in 1972 as a mechanical engineer.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.
He also was a member of Red Run Train Committee; Hagerstown Stamp Club; national and local AARP, and worked with its tax advisory; and was treasurer of Boy Scouts Troop 19, and helped them with events.
He enjoyed playing 500 and pinochle card games, dancing, hiking, and gardening.
He is survived by four daughters, Diane Henicle of Greencastle, Linda L. Heefner and Carol Flood, both of Waynesboro, and Patricia E. Bishop of Severna Park, Md.; one son, David A. East of Waynesboro; one sister, Helen Oswald of Hazelton; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Kunkle; and one brother, Joseph East.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Quincy.
The family will receive friends in the church's library on Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.

James F. Thomas
SMITHSBURG - James F. Thomas, 80, of Still Meadow Road, and formerly of Stroudsburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1917, in Wind Gap, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Mary Peters Thomas.
He owned and operated the former James F. Thomas Electrical Contractor business in Stroudsburg for many years, retiring in 1983.
A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Stroudsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Elva Reimel Thomas, whom he married Oct. 11, 1946; one daughter, Susan Thomas Shupp of Smithsburg; three sisters, Ethel Werner and Doris Thomas, both of Hamilton Township, Pa., and Nancy Thomas of Easton, Pa.; and two grandsons.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Schmidt Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap. Burial will be in Wind Gap Cemetery in Plainfield Township, Pa.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Louise A. Eichelberger
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Louise A. Eichelberger, 80, of Chambersburg Road, and formerly of Highlane Street, Paramount, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at Piney Mountain Nursing Home, Fayetteville.
Born Dec. 24, 1916, in Highfield, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Nona Mae Kettoman Happel.
She was a 1934 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Linn E. Eichelberger, whom she married June 15, 1940; two daughters, Carole L. Keyser of Hagerstown, and Mary A. Thompson of Fairfax, Va.; three sons, Linn H. Eichelberger of Fayetteville, Vance I. Eichelberger of Decatur, Ind., and Dr. Dwight O. Eichelberger of Littleton, N.H.; six brothers, Emory Happel, Richard Happel, Rooney Happel, Leland Happel, Leslie Happel and Preston Happel; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Happel.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard Simpson and the Rev. Marcus Earp will officiate.
